Just look at Waut, when u say that Jonas is not good.. He crashed 14 before jonas, and look at his form..... That Jonas even can compete on that level is amazing!
@@bernardo9202Jonas had much more serious injuries from that crash: broken ribs and collarbone, punctured lung, and bruised heart muscle. No comparison.
@@bernardo9202They weren’t hospitalized for 2 weeks genius. And furthermore, Jonas has already beaten Pogi twice now. They don’t need “Pr coverup” as a tactic to beat him. You’re not onto something, your ON something, buddy. 😂🙏😭
He is very very mature man, he radiates confidence without being arrogant, that is so rare. But I suppose thats what 2 titles and kids can do to a man...
jonas feels alot more open than last year. every interview last year he kinda said the same thing everyday, not giving anything away. this year he looks so relaxed
unbelievable that JV is at the level he is showing considering what he has been through, seems chilled out and seems confident he can ride into some form during later stages, but even if he does, the Pog he is up against is at the top of his game with a rolls royce of a team....just can't see anyone with a realistic chance....but then again this is the TDF !
yea its gonna be tough, also pogi has more early advantage this year and i believe he actually lost his confidence last after jonas broke him - which means this year we might see pogi rolling into later stages in higher confidence - also add that visma lacks support riders for pushing mountains and things look really stacked against vingegaard. If he wins despite on that he must surely be one of the greatest all time but i am very doubtful this tour can be turned around, i think pogi is the most likely candidate.
Jonas is right to be happy, is amazing to see him perform on this level so soon. I do think he is downplaying how hurt he is but we will see. Great showing either way.
The confidence of Jonas is just remarkable. I am wondering what are they planing to do in next stages. I know that hard mountain stages are coming, but still. And all this after a serious injury.
Yeah I don't understand that either. I totally root for Jonas (I am a Swede, always root for my Danish brothers), but Pogačar is clearly the stronger cyclist this year for obvious reasons. I can't see how Jonas can turn this around. Hopefully he proves me wrong!
It's just a mind game nothing else, it's effective in the last 2 tours maybe because they have super team, now it's opposite and not one but two or three or more monsters that he have to overcome.
He's a true champion, he's looking ahead, not looking back and he sees that things are within his grasp so he tells it like it is. What's not within his grasp is how Pogi will be in 3rd week. At the moment he doesn't look like he had to do much effort to be where he is so I'm not as confident as Jonas but of course that's out of his control
I think they’re all amazing at what they do, some have more strengths than others but the way they can come back from injury and still give their all is awesome! The power these guys(and girls) have and can hold for x amount of time is unbelievable
unbelievable!!! i still can‘t believe that vingegaard is at this level!!🙏 concidering what he went through it should all competitors make thinking what would have happened if jonas would be at 100%!!!☝️
There something about his confident vibe, even with all those set backs, he still believes . His not broken at all, there no BS and his direct. “My time will came” says Jonas . I like this type of Jonas. His ready for war and he doesn’t care what people think, I am telling you, let’s not be fooled, thats a dangerous man😅
Jonas is acting very confident, it'll be interesting to see what he pulls out. It might be a game he's playing, but I don't doubt his abilities. It'd be incredible of he manages to catch up or beat Pog... I'm rooting for Pog, but I also want to see a good race.
I appreciate they're pumping themselves up best they can. Then riding into form. And maybe hopes and dreams will come true. But I kind of doubt it in today's peloton.
@@Jon-cw8bb or few months, semantics lad. The fact is, he is in super shape (body and mind) considering. It took me months to even ride 10K after an accident.
@@Hansleonda Sure thing, maybe he was not in a crash, I may have dreamed about it. And I am happy that you guys recover brilliantly so fast yourselves. Congrats.
@@anaelisaahlmann6297 watch the latest l'équipe podcast. They mention talking to Jonas' coach and how actually Jonas did a lot of training in the runup to the tour. More than anyone expected. So he hasn't just gotten back on his bike. They prepared for the tour properly
From what we've seen so far I don't think he's in top form, but even if his preparation went exactly to plan he was never expecting to win the tour in a TT stage like this one. He will take minutes in the high mountain stages or he will lose.
He knows hes still on his way back to top performance and I'm happy his team isn't over expecting from him, very supportive. He knows he will keep getting fitter. But looks like he'll be fighting for a podium finish, definitely not winning this tour. Every hero has his lows. Congrats to Pogi, looks like its in the bag already.
Internet and social media, and they are in teams with mixed nationalities where they all have to speak English to communicate. Additionally, they are learning English in school from an early age.
He is absolutely right, won the tour by 8 minutes last year, 1 minute is nothing and people are already making it that pogacar have won - the tour has only just begun!
One of the most exciting trials in recent times due to the competition between the leaders. When Remco pedals and doesn't talk too much he is excellent, typical geek who when losing power first thinks about the burst tire, he would have made more difference. In an interview he stated that he thought he had snapped. Vingegaard one of the biggest winners because he comes from "Mordor and Arrakis".
"I'm not as consistent as I used to be" Wout Van Aert. However, you've never had a consistent preparation; always looking to change things up. If Wout wants to peak for the TdF and go for the green, I still believe he'd be unmatched in that.
No, there are plenty of pure sprinters that would currently demolish wout any day of the week. Philipsen, Pedersen, Girmay and Groenewegen . I think wout needs to focus on becoming a good TT man, domestique and breakaway rider.
@@mattiarubio3240 that's why he already beat them at Champs Élysées - which is harder than a green jersey btw. Wout has already outsprinted both Philipsen and Groenewegen in the past. However he'd be able to collect all the mid stage sprints probably, especially if there's just about and climb in the stage. But I think green jersey is not enough for him, he'd much rather win 3 stages including a TT and help his GC leader to win the Tour.
You all are really forgetful. Wout has always been in prime shape in TDF. Only this year not because of his heavy crash. Wout in prime shape is faster than Pedersen, and can ride Top 3 in flat sprint stages as well. If he doesn't need to domestique like the other sprinters Wout could have won green already 3-4 times. One year he combined it all and won with record points not even sprinting on the Champs Elysée
@@safetyinnumbers-cardanolan745 exactly. I dare everyone to rewatch last year's I think 8th stage? Finish in Limoges? Wout got blocked and still came in like a thunderbolt and still managed to get past Groenewegen lol...
I'm sure he's doing much better than him or his team thought they would after the crash. The tougher mountain stages is where they plan on gaining time. I really want to know how Pog has made these almost unbelievable gains in the TT compared to last year. Getting smoked by Jonas in the Tour and then coming in 9th at the world championships last year to this year only finishing 10 seconds behind Remco on a stage that favors Remco's aero position, out of this world!!! I really thought Pog would finish 30 seconds or more behind Remco.
@@TheWorldisaLIE2 he put most of that time into him on the TT no? when poggy blew up. todays time trial should of been Jonas time to stamp some authority back into this tour.. he’s waiting for poggy to blow again.
He came amazingly ready for someone who missed 2 months pf training. He knows something too. Feels way too calm compared to 2022 and 2023. It feels eery
He's not quite there yet, but for every day he's getting closer and in week three I think Pog will have to show his very best in order to keep Jonas behind him. Don't think Remco and Primoz will hold up when the going gets really tough.
When he says the power is there, the power is there. He is from a region famous for understatements. Whether it will be enough is yet to be seen, but if he fades in week 3 it would be a first for him.
I feel the third week will be very interesting. Tadej will have the Giro in his legs and Jonas will be coming into his best form. It will make for a facinating week.
It´s week 1 and he are 1:15 behind. Less than last three year at end of week 1. Incredible considering Jonas have not had time to train the route this year due to his bad crash.
@@Mike-zx1kxwhat are you smoking? 2023 he was in yellow after first week. 2022 he was just 35sec behind Tadej. In 2021 he was behind like 1:35 and he lost tour that year btw.
@fangru7294 In 2021 I thought that Roglic was the main GC contender on TJV and Jonas was only promoted halfway through the Tour. That could be part of the reason he lost the Tour that year.
He pushed as hard as he could. What’s the point of freaking out? Maybe he grows in strength as the race continues, Maybe Pogi shows a weakness. Maybe not. What can he do? Freaking out and getting depressed and upset about where he is won’t help him at all.
I really hope Vismas luck starts changing soon... They had the domestiques to help Jonas but one by one they crashed... I guess they used so much karma last yr winning 3 GTS that this yr was going to be different... It's difficult seeing Laporte and Wout in average shape... These are world class riders floundering... Jonas will not give up and if he can keep improving who knows... To be fair after his crash a top 5 is a incredible performance... If Bora can attack Pog and Jonas hide in their ranks who knows... It's all going to come down to last week and hopefully Jonas can get top 3....Just to finish this TDF will be a incredible performance... Stay safe all riders ❤😊
If he keeps saying that Tadej is only gaining a small amount of time on him in these stages then he knows he’s in great shape and is expecting to go big later on. Unless he keeps losing time little by little all the way to Nice and is down 4 minutes in the 3rd week.
U dare open ur mouth about jonas but turn a blind eye to the most obvious doper of them all? From start of year always riding aggressive and winning races going into to tour with powerful form and the most rich team with the most money to have the most suffistocated doping and even bribe money pogi??? Give me a damn break dude
I do not think that Jonas dared hope that he could hang on the best as well as he had at the moment. I think they hoped that he could use the first 2 weeks to improve his form, as he had only been able to take time from Pogi in the last week last year and the year before. He might have lost less time than fear now. And he might not be able to take time on Pogi later in the tour, but at the moment its not decided.
They know his training numbers and what he was able to do before the Tour started, they probably knew pretty much exactly what he’s capable of. It’s not like they’re going into the Tour guessing who they send in their lineup.
This is the most astute comment of the bunch. The parcours is not difficult for the next week, which means Jonas has another 8 days to gain more fitness (and not crash, of course). The last week may be a doozie. Pogi will try to add as much time as possible before then (he’s as aware as everyone that he may lack punch in last week), but we will now also see the lesser riders play a larger role (each of the top 4 have another rider in the top 10) and this may prove problematic as someone will need to chase them down.
The longer the Tour goes the worse it will get for him. He will crack at some point. Not enough training. Still impressive how fit he got in such a short time after the injury.
He's not happy to lose time, he can only do what he can do, he's clearly not in shape, his sponsors have prob required him to be there. He'll prob be better at the Vuelta.
