Hey everyone! I'm back to fulfil the promise of more frequent remixes, and to start off the year I thought I'd try something new! I've never done written anything rock, and after some hard work, here's a rock remix of 'Withered Savanna' from the severely underrated OST of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity!
To be quite honest, this piece doesn't have much emotional significance to me, other than the fact that it's an amazing track from the underrated entry to the PMD series. I've only played through the game once, so I'm not entirely confident in pinpointing where the track plays in the story.
But I recently rediscovered this beautiful track listening to some of threelines3's phenomenal PMD arrangements (seriously, go check them out right now: / threelines3 . This remix is heavily inspired by threelines3's work with the same source track, and I even borrowed some harmonic elements from it. But, I have added my own spin, including a fun new section, new rhythmic and melodic additions, and of course the genre and instrumentation change. The main difference though is the change of key in the main section, which I transposed a semitone down, but it goes back to the original key towards the end for an emotional finish. I was also inspired by rock songs in anime and games, which is apparent in the style and structure.
I'm really proud of this one, it's been a while since I've had this much fun doing a remix. Exploring a new genre is definitely fun, and I hope I didn't do too bad in tackling something different. I hope you guys are enjoying the new year. Enjoy and I'll catch you guys later~
