I watched it last Christmas one season per night each, and now this year, I rewatched it, with my mother includingly, AHHH, WHAT A BANGER WE'RE HAVING!
If you stop to think about it even the song's name itself carries a deeper meaning."To the Beginning" means the end of a cycle and the start of another, the death of brave heroes and the tragedy which marks the birth of new ones. Shirou, Rin, Sakura, Saber, Ilya, Kirei. They were all affected or involved in the 4th Grail War, which would eventually lead them to the 5th.
The way they played this song as the series ending theme has, IMO, a greater emotional impact than playing it as the 2nd opening theme. It reminds me that not all stories have a happy ending. Fate/Zero certainly didn't, and this song conveyed that fact perfectly.
Fate zero had an open ending, fate inherently had a very happy ending all things considered , what it does NOT have is a HAPPY STORY line, it does NOT have that at all.(EXCEPT HEAVENS FEEL; PREPARE TO FEEL)
I wouldn't exactly call Heaven's Feel HAPPY, considering all of the shit ALL of the main characters go through in that route. UBW probably has the least shitty things happen to Shirou directly, while the Fate route had the least amount of crap for Tohsaka and Saber.
Hearing this play at the very end of FZ immediately after Shirou says he will take up Kiritsugu's dream and having that light shine down on Arturia from the hill of calmlann was honestly my favorite part of that series in general, and how it continued into the credits..damn. Just great stuff
@@tribacioustee2846 Some folks in particular may say that ufotable's Zero is the only good thing good about the Fate series(to which i obviously wholeheartedly disagree)...but to those people, i posit the notion that the very connection of Fate Zero back to the original work is a majority stake in what makes it such a powerful work. One may think Fate Zero on its own is a great series and it is, but it is enhanced infinitely so for fans who were already into Fate and made the connections back to the characters and thematic nuances knowing the trajectory to which these events would lead chronologically. Ahem, sorry i ranted at you, i just felt that it was a message i feel gets lost sometimes.
@@MrInuhanyou123 There's glimmers of good in Stay Night, let down by its structure. But I'm in total agreement, Zero is the most consistently solid work in the Fate series. The rest is really fanservice in comparison
@@tribacioustee2846 actually, i wasnt saying that at all, i was saying that FZ and FSN being connected makes FZ better as a work rather than it being its own thing cut off. So technically i was arguing the opposite of you. The structure of FSN makes it allowed to do things FZ, can not do, and in reverse as well, FZ can do things FSN cannot do due to its structure. FSN and FZ are both great works, excelling in different aspects.
I started to imagine in 11 years, when the song will complete 20 years, how everything will be different, and a lot of people dont will even know that kalafina existed... but this will always be in my heart
I think this is Kiritsugu speaking with Irisviel, mainly because of a few reasons and lines from the song itself: 1. "In order to create a future where no one will cry ever again." - Iri said this to Kiritsugu since she fully believes that he will create such a future. A world where there is no pain or sadness, a "perfect" world where everyone can be happy. 2. The two of them, Irisviel and Kiritsugu, love each other deeply and care for the other more than anything in the world(despite knowing the fact it would end in tragedy). Iri fully believes and loves him, and is willing to die for his ideals. Kiritsugu loves her as well, but is tormented by that love for her because he knows she will have to die for his wish/ideals. 3. "My screams and prayers doesn't reach anywhere and just disappear into the tainted crimson sky" - This line in the song is from Kiritsugu's inner self(I think). The screams and prayers part is him basically saying: "I wish to become the "Hero of Justice. I wish to protect the weak. I wish for a utopia, a utopia where no one will cry ever again."; The tainted crimson sky part is his days of being an assassin and taking part in countless bloody battles, fighting for a dream/wish that could not be fulfilled. 4. Irisviel is basically like a moral compass to him. She loves him with all her heart and will always want to walk the same path as him. She also gives birth to Illya so that Kiritsugu has one thing to come back to after the War is over. 5. "With my eyes shut I'll still reach out my hand, believing in your grief" - Again, this comes back to Iri. This line of the song seems to say that no matter what, Iri will always believe in Kiritsugu. The eyes shut thing seems to imply that, even after death, she will still love, care, and understand Kiritsugu, and will also recognize and comfort his grief and agony. (This is only a handful of what I can decipher from the song that relates to both of these two, and this only speculation)
point 3 could also point to the ending of the HGW where the Grail's mud destroyed everything in flames ""My screams and prayers doesn't reach anywhere and just disappear into the tainted crimson sky" he spent hours screaming and looking for survivors
God damn it this anime....Why didn't I watch it earlier. Eevery second it's pure art, from de opening, the characters, the storyline, the art, the ending. Just...everything about it it's to die for
Guys... Good news www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-05-14/bunshun-kalafina-members-want-to-get-back-together/.146665 Kalafina may be going back To The Beginning
The series gave me unique emotions, it is so beautiful and classical while being full of tragedies .I still remember clearly the sorrowful face of saber standing on the piles of blood at the start of the op even tho it has been a long time i have watched this anime. One of the best so far
"If I could choose you and search for happiness just for the two of us" reminds me when Kiritsugu had a moment of weakness and asked Irisviel to throw away everything so they could run away with Illya, as well when the illusion of Angra Mainyu revealed that deep down he wanted to revive Irisviel and being with Illya again.
~The beautiful moonlight just quietly decays away to the beginning. My locked away desire is still far away into the darkness. *All of the days I lived together with you make up a gentle song* ~ I can only think about *Waver* and *Iskandar* 😭😭 my 2 fav characters❤❤❤ I finished Fate Zero 2 days ago and I am still sad about *Waver* and *Iskandar* 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💜💜
It may not be gory or horror but it was definitely brutal. People abandoning their morals, killing their families and slaughtering children, just for a wish but only to find out everything was a lie. Sacrificing everything just a piece of hope only to realize you've been played is the ultimate form of trolling
I find it fascinating to this day that Fate Zero is the prequel to Stay Night, and that this song is called To The Beginning, as if implying that everything that is happening in this arc is leading up to the events that resulted in the origins of the MC for the main series.
Fate Zero is the greatest greek tragedy I've ever seen or read. It's so good it's not even fair to what comes after it. Like, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel never had any chance to ever live up to Zero.
@@Xavslip Fate/Stay Night, which was composed of the Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven's Feel routes, was released in January 2004, and Fate/Zero was published in four volumes from December 2005 to December 2006.
In meinem Reich gibs keine Helden nur das Ende eines Traums Or in english In my realm exist no heroes, here only end dreams Perfectly fits with Zero in my eyes
Well that was a sad anime and this song describe it so well, it is almost weird that Gilgamesh was the only one who didn't have a bad ending considering how much of an asshole he is in UBW (to think that i considering to be an honorable guy in zero, i guess humanity can really show the worst of everyone
He became an "asshole" like what you usually call him because he became a fully human thanks to the bloody bath from the grail. Like humans, we always extinguish what we dont like. His human nature became fully in control so instead of just watching/observing in the sidelines in F/Z he decided to dirty his hand with such tasks like killing some people.
I want to watch it, but Gigguk made it difficult for me to start the franchise with this series. I can at least appreciate the awesome songs made for every Fate series, and this is one of my favorites.
It must be Iri to Kiritsugu, considering this is a F/Z opening. However, I like to think this is Rin singing about Shirou and his twisted ideals, that she would do anything to keep him from becoming the man the Hero EMIYA is. That even if he wouldn't do the same, she would choose him above the whole world. "My locked desire is still far away in the darkness." I like to think that means that she is still far from saving Shirou of becoming his future self, but she will try nevertheless. Truly a really good song, as it can have so many interpretations within the same series.
