It's called as "Visual Novel". It's already popular in Japan since like.. the beginning of 21st century. Visual Novel is a novel that got visualised. Soo we can feel more about the story. It's a game but also a novel.

For a time I used to think the message of the story was that you should focus on your career so that you can ensure a long life with the one you love, but that's not it at all, Johnny only wanted to go to the moon until after River died because that's where they were supposed to meet up. Being an astronaut isn't important to him, it's just a means of getting back to his wife... the message is only that he loves her, and misses her, and wants to see her again

This game is perfect. It has not a single flaw in it. As incredible and hard to believe it may sound to someone, it's the absolute truth. It is a beautiful piece of art and I really want it to be remembered by the generations that will come. Even if you are not a gamer, you just have to experience it.

Rohan Thomas You can move with the arrows and interact with the environment when in front of an object/person and pressing enter. Same goes for forwarding dialogue, so the mouse is pretty much useless.

+Cat Of Nacata To be fair, this game is, in my opinion, more a visual novel than a video game. The only elements of actual "gaming" would be the puzzles and finding the memories required to move to the next "chapter". But this is, to me at least, perfection in every aspect of the word.

Ive never cried during a movie or video game but I was close to tearing up with this scene. We live in a world of gaming where everything is about having the best graphics and visuals. This game reminded reminded me that a game doesn't have to have great graphics to be a masterpiece.

Just finished this game and fucking hell, the best game I've played in a long time. Kan Gao is a beautiful genius, what a fantastic experience. If you've not played To The Moon yet (Shame on you!), but seriously if you haven't, I would recommend. 10/10.

This game, and the song, made me really think about life and how your choices, wether good or bad, makes you who you are today. For a whole week, I just contemplated the significance of everything I do and will do in my life, because a lot of things can have a huge impact on your life.

November 26 2014, the day my life changed, i quit being a fat slob and started being a beast, this game gave me that little push there when i watched markiplier play it, this scene in the game helped change me, i became more confident after this and i started becoming a different person. If i could go back to that day and feel what i felt before i would because thats when the feeling were highest. Everything will always be alright in the end

The thing is... I cried more because Johnny got his brother back. Which was what caused the ENTIRE rift between him and River. If that one event hadn't happened, then he would have recognized River the minute they met up anytime after the festival.

The bittersweet feeling i had when i first realized that the reason River kept asking John about the bunnies was to see if she could make him remember their first meeting and oh god i just realised this while writing but the reason River became more aloof after John told her about (what he thought was) their first meeting probably wasnt because of his reasons at the time, but bc she realised he didnt remember their actual first meeting at all and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i made myself even more sad now

I was very sceptic about this being a good game and being able to make me cry, but when I played it I was getting more and more into the story and at the end I was in a onions chopping spree. Then when I tell other people about how amazing and moving this game is they have the same sceptic reaction I had. It is frustrating cause they (we) shouldn't judge a book by its cover, and we know this quote but somehow we keep on not applying it...

This particular scene in the game demonstrates how important memories are. Every moment in your life is a treasure, even the good and the bad, happy or sad. That is life. I think that's one of the games message in its story. Knowing that if you let yourself down because of all the bad or sad moments, you won't achieve your dream. And perhaps even though you tried your hardest, all those moments you had still meant something to you and that it is no ones right to take them away from you.

Best love story of all time, Kan is a genius. I couldn’t stop thinking about this story, after I played it, for a month. This should be a big production movie, no other love story would hold a candle to it! Titanic, notebook, etc, have nothing on this. 2 times my heart was ripped from my chest on this were the erasure of River(accompanied my Laura’s great song) and the final moment where they held hands! Absolutely perfect!

Watched this game get streamed last night... was a great game, and then we got to this scene... I don't think there was a dry eye from anyone.. even the streamer had to sit back and you could see him trying not to cry. Excellent game and the perfect voice for the song. I didnt play the game myself but I did watch a playthrough. Ive never read, saw or played anything that hit me emotionally like this story. I got choked up at some points, cried at others. At the point just before this song, tears wee flowing. Then I heard the song and I lost it. I listened and watched that part many times just to feel that emotion, hoping I find a River of my own. still get choked up hearing this. Masterpiece all around

This game has had a large impact on my life. My brother Scott died June 7th 1971 from internal complications he was born with. I was born November 29th 1982 , I wish I could have met him and told him I loved him. If I ever find my self in Johnny's situation I could only hope this is possible by then. I would like to see my alternate life.
