My mom has a habit of just stepping off the curb and crossing the street or parking lot without checking for cars. Her reasoning is "well if I get hit and die I'll get to go to heaven sooner." I've scolded her every single time she does this because she's being so incredibly selfish. Like yeah sure you'll be dead so it won't matter to you but what about the poor innocent person you just traumatized?! We even know someone who accidentally killed a young child who suddenly ran in front of her car and even though it happened well over a decade ago she's still traumatized. If anyone wants to die that badly do it in a way that will not cause horrific consequences for other people.
@madhatterline

Well yeah but also it's daft to assume you will just be killed outright. She could be left in excruciating terrifying pain for minutes/hours, dying slowly. Or she could be left with terrible injuries & disabilities including the loss of limbs or brain damage. It happens. Why risk it.

Ive been in a dark headspace before and know how rough it is but I find dragging anyone else into it (ei doing death by other driver or death by cop) is crappy as hell. If you want to go out in a way that hurts as many people as possible that isn't a terroristic then by car is the biggest and easiest way for that Them 'using' that innocent person traumatizes that person both physically and mentally, and that trauma may make that person want to do the exact same thing that the crappy person couldn't do on their own which caused them to 'use' that person in the first place. Also there is no guarantee that the person will die and then if they live they are most likely left disabled and in a worst position than they were previously (medical bills, potential criminal charges, disabilities, etc) all the while there are innocent people who are now traumatized or dead themselves (one case I recall where someone went over the center line to end it and they lived but the other driver died, so the person who failed to end it was tried for manslaughter or murder or something, there might have even been kids in the car or kids involves somehow, she might have been pregnant when she died? hard to recall). Then there is the fact that in order to reach 'lethal speeds' your more likely doing this crap on a highway and that can lead to a pile up that will end up with many people wounded or unalive. You also can't determine who will be in the vehicle you choose 100% nor who are in the vehicles that may collide with the initial vehicle afterward. Your likely to get at least 1 vehicle with kids depending on the time of year and day. I feel people do this even more to truck drivers tho but don't realize that these people are the life blood of goods in our country as they literally transport goods across it and they see/go thru some horrific shit because people see a transport and think 'it will get the job done'.

@@madhatterline Oh yeah just thought of something, compartment syndrome. They get a crisis unit to help calm the person down/de-escalate as the crew figure out what to do, they realize they don't want to die but then go into a crisis when/if they figure out that they are as good as dead when they remove the wreckage that's pinning them. Imagine having probably about all of 30mins - 1 hr to come to terms with your death for real and not being able to tap out/second guess (which is usually why someone wants something 'fast' so they can't second guess and follow thru but they would get time to second guess but be unable to 'undo' it, existential fear and panic until the wreck is moved and they die. That would be really scary emotionally, which for someone already pushed towards that point may be even more terrifying than just a slow and painful death but feeling fine, feeling like they have 'hope' because of how compartment syndrome works and then be told or realize they are going to die and be fully aware of when its coming, you would be crapping your pants if your bowels weren't severed).

i feel like this is a good time to remind everybody to not guilt trip suicidal people for this though. the last thing people going through these kinds of things need is to feel even worse about themselves
@twit3537
@twit3537 2 месяца назад
@@cultofmel theres no guilt tripping unless actually drag others into their plan. Intrusive thoufhts happen so if you have thoughts to end it that way its different than actually commiting it using someone else so people who just think kt shouldnt feel guilty. Being suicidal doesn't excuse actively hurting others in the process od hurting/ending yourself. Ive been in that headspace and had to go to the hosptial because of it. Ive had intrusiv4 thoughts of doing similiar (and likr I said, nothing wrong with the thoughts, intrusive or otherwise, because its born from the headspace your in, its acting on them that is wrong as you hurt more than yourself) but luckily I live where there is free healthcare and the local psyche ward staff arent lacking empathy so being sdmitted regularly didnt screw me up more and made comfortable when I felt myself "slipping" to self admit. However if I were to act on some of the intrusive thoughts I had involving using other people driving as my "means to an end", then I would be held accountable for any trauma or death others face in the wake of the wreck Ive made and should be. It is becauze of the state of mind I did that but I still did that, you know what I mean? It wont erase the pain of the others who are now suffering by you or somene you love saying you did it to end your pain. It also isnt guilt tripping to state facts, that if I hadnt jumped in front of that truck then that road pile up with X amount of people dead and Y amount injured woildnt have happened because it started from me colliding with the truck. So it would be my fault. If stating this makes someone feel bad about their future plan then thats GOOD because it might help them delay enough to get help instead of thinking up a new one. Its also good because it shows they have empathy for others and a coubsellor can use that as an 'anchor' to help give them a will to live. I lived for my cats for example. Or if its about something they did in the past then there isnt much to say besides hopefully they got help and/or are working on themselves but you csnt change the past. And again, thoughts/plans do not automatically make someone guilty/make them have to feel guilty. They should talk about it to others, whether thru a helpline, friend or something, to get help before it gets to that point. Suicidal people shouldn't feel guilty about having intrusive thoughts or plans like this znd should reach out. I really hope that they can get help like I did The issue is if they act on it or want to act on it that they should know how many people they would be hurting besides just the innocent person in the car or truck. And also that its not 'guaranteed' that they 'wont make it' so then they potentially made their life 100x worse too. These are facts that if they live, they have to live with and everyone else invovled along with their loved ones too (and if suidicidal person doesnt make it that latter group of people, including their loved ones, will have to live with it). If these facts deter people from commiting this way then good, I hope they dont deter from seeking help and speakinf about it because like I said, action =/= thoughts/plan. Even if they were on thr curb but change their mind its dtill better than following thru and I hope they get help

Tired driving can have similar affects to drunk driving. If you’re tired while driving, make sure to have plenty of caffeine. And most importantly, pull over somewhere safe and take a rest. My mother's cousin's husband: drove buses for a large Canadian city's transit system. One day while driving; someone decided they wanted to self terminate by bus. They bolted out from between two cars into the path of his bus. There was nothing he could do. The worst part was that he was treated badly by his co-workers. He refused to return to driving buses and ended up quitting. He was troubled by it for years.

Not my story so I'll keep it short and vague my aunt refused to drive her son, my cousin somewhere. He then went to another guy and asked him for a ride. An argument started, I don't know how or why, and my cousin turned to walk away. That man then grabbed his shotgun and shot my cousin through his back. According to med staff he was dead immediately. My aunt never recovered and spends her days high and strung out. It's been nearly ten years.

So my mother died when I was 21, I had visited her place and she was "taking a nap" when I got there, I went upstairs to borrow a cigarette from her and she was unwakeable, sitting up against the bedframe snoring happily. I took the cigarettes, walked downstairs and told my dad "check on her every now and then please, she seems to be sleeping in a position that seems detrimental to her health." An hour and a half later she was dead from an OD on pain pills. I felt like something was wrong, and took NO ACTION AND I HATE MYSELF FOR IT.

I believe what the husband said about the grandfather was just waiting to hear about Rocky. A friend of mine cares for elderly nearing the end and she would sometimes take me along to see some of her patients. There was a lady who looooved her parrot Sacha. We would talk for hours about her and Sacha and their long life together. The parrot was fairly old too, but not near the end yet. My friend said when she was on her death bed, she begged to see Sacha and say goodbye to her. When they finally brought Sacha to her, they said their goodbyes and my friend said it looked like Sacha knew what was happening too because she was usually a very chattery bird but she was very quiet and cooing to her owner. After she was done saying goodbye, she died just a few minutes later. Sacha is with her grandkids now, and she's happy and healthy. Though she has a feather-pulling habit now. The anxiety of losing a strongly-bonded owner can make them do that. But she's otherwise living a good life and the grandkids take good care of her.

Birds are really sensitive so they do often live with anxiety after losing someone, but otherwise she was in good health and loved. @@CasualVFlowerEnjoyer Aaaaa I am so happy and excited about that then, thank you so much!! I only got into Vocaloid as a whole several months ago, but Flower has been one of my biggest hyperfixations ever since I started getting into Vocaloid (got introduced to it thanks to my favourite producer, GHOST and Pals, their work has been one of my big hyperfixations for that exact same amount of time as well). I adore Flower so much and am kinda in love with her, to be honest 👉🏻👈🏻 What about you, if I may ask? Do you know/like GHOST? Do you have any favourite songs featuring Flower? And yes, I know, birds are very intelligent and sensitive indeed. I used to have my own pet bird for a while, a rosella I named Spike. I got him for my 14th birthday in January 2016 and he was lovely and made me really happy. I did what I could to take care of him, I was very limited in my abilities because I had him at my father's place that I would only visit for the weekends and some holidays (long story, my parents are divorced and my father has been an abusive bastard my whole life), but Spike and I's time together did not last too long sadly... He passed away later that same year, in October 2016, because he got attacked by a cat or a weasel while in his cage that was kept outside on the porch of my father's house. He was given emergency surgery but did not make it. I was not there when it happened and only learnt about it once he had already been buried. I have felt so guilty for so long even though I know none of it was logically my fault, I could not have done anything and I was only a child (already dealing with an abusive alcoholic father, a lot of mental health issues, ongoing trauma, and more), but I still miss him and I feel so terrible about the fact that his precious life was cut short like that...

@@dinoheartnerd2265 I'm in love with her too lol she's like, cringey to say but, my main waifu. Be still, my lesbian heart lol I'm not as big on English vocaloid songs, I mostly prefer Japanese producers. I would say my favorite song featuring her is a cover of Close To You, she sounds very real in that one. Ghost Rule is also great because she was originally intended to be used in rock music so her growl is exceptionally good. I've been into vocaloid since 2008, I'm old af Which is why I'm glad Flower almost technically has a canon age of 26 rn, her official Twitter up until a year ago listed her birth year as 1997, a year younger than me. Its not there anymore, for whatever reason, but I'd still prefer it to be true rather than her being a perpetual teen like other vocaloids. Idk I'm ADHD rambling now woops I'm sorry to hear about your birdie's untimely end. I had two parakeets growing up, at different times. My first was named Joey and he didn't like anyone except me and mom. He was cute and my mom got him at a flea market if you can believe it. Mom ended up giving him away because she got tired of how noisy he was. We had him for years but one day she just decided he was too much. I was pretty little so I don't remember much about what happened to him after. My second bird was named Sundae and I gave him up to someone who had two parakeets but one died and now the bonded parakeet was lonely. Sundae was by himself so I thought maybe it would be best for him and the other parakeet if they were together. I didn't have the energy or room for two birds, my mental health and living situation were kinda rocky then. But I do know Sundae and his little friend are two peas in a pod now.

In the US, "pressing charges" is solely up to the prosecutors, and to a lesser extent the police and grand juries. If a victim "doesn't want to press charges", then charges are usually dropped because the prosecution usually won't have a case if the victim refuses to testify. If the victim is dead though, then whether or not their family members want to "press charges" is often irrelevant unless they have vital testimony.

Ever since I moved to New Orleans there's been creeps everywhere I look. They try every tactic possible to get women to go with them. I already have PTSD and realized unless I wanted to get hurt I'd need something to protect myself and got a reliable knife to carry on my belt. Had an encounter with a man twice my size that seemed just nice and offered a can of soda on a hot summer day, then blocked the exit and said he expected payment for the unopened can. I said I'd just give it back then and be on my way, he said that's not how this is going to work. He grabbed me and my brain just shut off and went into life and death mode. Why did it go directly into life and death mode? Because trafficking and murder after assault is so common nobody even looks if someone is getting assaulted in broad daylight in public. He grabbed me and all I thought was, "he's gonna kill me" so on reflex I grabbed the knife and just swung, once. It went through his side and sliced his stomach open, Mossy Oak Fixed Blade was one hell of a reliable knife. He just kinda froze and my feet just moved and I got the hell away from there. I did call for an ambulance but even the EMTs recognized the guy as a famous assaulter and ped0 that police didn't care to do anything about, but the EMTs had to take care of his "let's have a fun time"s. Police tried to have me arrested but they couldn't deny the evidence and video footage of him being the only one with premeditated malicious intent.

1) I have a similar story. My mom had a stroke when I was a teenager. Dispite I heard of key clues of stroke, it didn't help me, because women's strokes often differ from the classic scenario seen in man's cases. In my mom's case, she just went to sleep for 3 days and woke up an inadequate person. Given how hard she worked, such a long "nap" wouldn't have surprised me, and I thought that she deserves to finally have a rest, but it turned out to be a sign of something abnormal. It took us a few more days to realize that she suddenly forgot how to do everyday things (for example, she burned a pot of meat on the gas stove and didn't even notice, sitting in the kitchen in a cloud of smoke), had strange habits (she constantly made her own tea and forgot about it, there were 6 mugs of tea on the coffee table), misremembered her experiences or "invented" new memories. Unfortunately, she behaved too adequately in the hospital to be diagnosed with a stroke. However, blood vessel ischemia was noted, signaling that her blood pressure had risen to 300+ units at some point. 2) Had a conversation with Laura Branigan's best friend Natalie. Laura died of aneurism despite being aware that something is wrong for weeks. She for some reason decided to ignore headaches, but would complain about it to her friends. Natalie tried to push Laura into going to hospital, but Laura resisted with all her limbs like a little child. Then Natalie decided she had had enough, and withdrew from the problem.... Only to find her friend dead a few days later. She still can't forgive herself for not doing enough to send Laura to the hospital.

I did. I was 17 and only had my license for 3 months. I was heading home out of town, right when the speed changed from 45 to 55mph. So I started hitting the gas. I'm in the left lane when suddenly a car is right in front of me, I slammed on the brakes but the long tire marks on the road showed I had no option with so little vehicle experience. T-boned a 70 something woman. We skidded into the turning lane. She never was conscious from that point and died later in the hospital. I'm still struggling with the vehicular PTSD and other issues that I believe stemmed from that day.

Not my stories but I feel like I should tell them 1: My school’s high school English teacher was driving back home from mass, keep this in mind, miracles are real, he had felt like he should go to confession, so he did, he got hit by someone, maybe drunk, I don’t really know, everyone said the other guy was trying to end himself but he had a family, the other guy hit him and they both died, I hope everybody realizes how important it was that he had gone to confession right before the tragedy. 2: A very kind girl who was in high school at the time was driving home from her shift at the hospital she was at, everyone knew this girl, she was amazing, this drunk/high/both person hit her, she survived but was in the hospital and physical therapy for the longest time. His bail was very low, even though this was his second offense and she will be traumatized her whole life. It was unfair. I wasn’t crying, well, not until I made the connection, my sister was at college for NURSING at the time, I realized that that could’ve been her. I am so grateful she survived. Rejoice and be glad, for God is good!

When I was 8 I refused to leave my grandmas house and told my mom and grandma that I knew grandma was going to die so I cannot leave. I obviously eventually had to go. A week later, my grandma died of a heart attack in the middle of the night. I technically didn’t do anything, but I always felt like maybe if I didn’t say it out loud, it wouldn’t have happened. I don’t know how I knew.

Story 9 reminds me of a time that a guy passed in front of my vehicle specifically when I passed by, I reacted quickly and didn't hit him. I looked through the mirror and he kept standing in the same spot he was prior to me passing by him, probably waiting for another vehicle

The state is the one who would have pressed charges and they can do so even if you ask them not to. The state usually drops the charges if people ask for minor things because it would be really hard to make a case without their witness statements/agreement to testify. And they're not looking to waste their time on unwinnable cases. But people actually do not have control over whether charges are pressed, they are usually only asked if their testimony would likely be critical to the case and it would be pointless to charge Sarah Jenkins for punching you if you're not willing to make a statement about it and your witnesses don't want to either. In more serious crimes, they are also more likely to charge, even if it isn't justice to do so and is just a cruelty to everyone involved.

The government is who presses charges. They will take the will of the people affected into consideration when deciding whether they want to, or not, but ultimately people don't press charges, they may seek to have the government do it, but they don't.

Iirc in some areas you could be charged for mrder for defending yourself in your home if you had something like a bat 'kept close' in cases like the one OP and their young son being at home witht he armed intruder. Its because its pre-meditated or something with the bat being kept to harm someone in the future (even in self defense) or something. Thats iirc but I remember there being a big stink about people getting charged for defending themselves and their home when people break in (like one home owner injured the robber and was then sued for the robbers medical bills)

I never drive drunk and I hate people who do, it’s horrible and selfish. However I would say it’s definitely still “accidentally” taking someone’s life. The intention isn’t there but it’s negligence and for sure the fault of the driver. Similar to speeding and driving dangerously, it’s an accident for sure but the death is still on the person. I’ve lost a cousin due to another one of our cousins driving them around drunk, so I definitely don’t have a sweet spot for them or anything and I blame my other cousins but it was still not on purpose.

The last one with the drugs. Op absolutely has a degree of responsibility. Don't take people to get drugs. The majority i think is evenly split between the friend and the dealer. But the driver made a choice just like they did and bears responsibility for facilitating it.

I think I may have played a part in the death of my worst bully. I responded to a call for possible heart attack. Getting to the patient, we talk. She introduced herself and I’m thinking panic attack as the symptoms don’t seem to be lining up for a heart attack. I introduce myself. Color drained from her as she realized who I was. I focused solely on my job. Now she’s looking more like a heart attack over a panic attack. We load her up and I ride with her in the back along with her husband. I’m eyeballing the monitor and the husband asks if me and the patient know each other. I explained that we went to school together long ago. We never hung out or anything like that, but yes, we did have classes together. Monitor starts wailing and I go to work. Sadly, she was DOA. (Dead on Arrival) Faulty heart. I learned from husband that she had a history of heart issues and had recently given up sucking the cancer stick. I do like to think that during the final moments of her life, she finally understood the fear she caused me all those years ago, that for one brief moment, our positions were reversed.

Part of the issue when labeling drunk driving as intentional would be consent when it comes to sexual activities. The way i see lawyers arguing it is if someone cannot consent, they cannot have intent. Im not defending drunk driving, i almost lost one of my oldest friend when his driver missed the ONLY turn because of how drunk he was. Ended up decapitating the guy in the passenger seat. My friend was miraculously fine, but it messed him up for a while after and neither of us have more than one beer if we are going to drive anymore, even if we dont feel it.

13:14 State can press charges if it’s reckless driving or something around those lines. Those are criminal acts, and are handled by prosecutors, not individual complainants. Although I don’t agree that charges should have been pressed, it’s an awful but lawful situation. She did commit a crime, albeit in a golf cart of all things. It depends on jurisdiction & things like that. Case shouldn’t have been brought though, and that was the actions of a DA trying to make a statement most likely. Also doesn’t help that there was a child involved, state goes nuclear if there was a child involved.
