I have a feeling you meant ‘ward’, not ‘award’. …Although it IS rewarding to belong to such a ward, I’m sure.

I hear what you are saying. All of that totally makes sense. On the other hand, some people might say she never joined the church because she wasn't informed or interested enough in her lifetime. They might think she would now have learned about the gospel in the afterlife and might have understood and wanted the ordinances. Other people might say it gives the old man solace in the last few years of his life so it is worth it for him. They might say it doesn't matter anyway because it's all a made up story in the first place so it wouldn't make any difference to the wife in the afterlife anyway and gives him some comfort in his final days? And BTW I left the church in 1992 after I was born into it in 1954 for many reasons. But much of my family, including my 94 year old mother, is still a member. Family genealogy still gives her great comfort and for that I am grateful even though it is not part of my belief system now.

I think II heard about that same video at least 20 years ago. I'm going to ask my brother. He was at the MTC about that time. I will ask him. I had completely forgotten but I'm pretty sure it was the same one. Surely, someone out there has it.

Pondering aspects of the past and present, and then taking any questions to God who is the source of all that is true, good, and beautiful. That is how I got my evidence.

@@BubbaSpartans Thanks for your response. How would you respond to someone who has studied, pondered and prayed about the Book of Mormon, and has received an answer through the Spirit, that the book is not of God?

@@BubbaSpartans I had a friend with an interesting experience and eventually the Muslim faith. She had been agnostic her entire life and would not talk about religion at all. Thought it was all a bunch of "bunk." When some of us friends would get together and the topic of religion, scriptures, different holy books and religion came up she would always say, "Ok girls I'm heading out." I lost touch with her. 30 years later I walked into a bookstore and saw her there browsing. She had on a "hijab" and dressed in what looked like a wool dress when it was 90 degrees out! She remembered me and we stood and visited and went across the street to get something to drink. I asked her what the deal was with the hijab. She told me that 10 years ago she met a Muslim woman who gave her a copy of the Koran and asked her to just read it and ponder over it and if it were true Allah would tell her so. She finally agreed to read it and claimed she felt "warm water running through her veins and knew Islam was true." She seemed very happy and on I went and never saw her again. It's interesting to me how many people believe that various belief systems all give them the same answer......

To Cari J: I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for nearly 50 years, and have gone to church every Sunday for nearly 58 years since my birth. I have NEVER felt targeted as a woman in the Church! Even growing up in Southern California. The Church is of God and Jesus Christ and the truths found in the Church have blessed my life immensely!!!
