This is a great video John. when you are pulling with the pouch straight up and emphasizing the pointing with the forks you do not get a fork hit but your hand will get hit if you do not have that last moment of dropping your hand to avoid the hit.
Hi John, I really like your vids. Keep up the good work! Pickle Fork Shooters are usually flipped out of the way of the ball before it can hit the fork. If you still hit it, your bandset is too short or you are flipping it too slow ;-) In my experience, twisting the pouch has a negative side to it as well. I mostly shoot Paintballs at the moment, but in a over-the-top configuration twisting the pouch is more likely to result in a return-to-sender shot. Bill Hays mentioned it in one of his videos that this is a specific problem for OTT shooters while TTF shooters don´t have this problem. If i remember correctly, it is possible that the pouch keeps on turning when it reaches the point where it should release the ball. This can prevent the pouch to open correctly and the ball is not released and comes straight back at you. I had several return to sender shots when twisting the pouch. So i stopped twisting it. Since then no more RTS shots.
Hello John I've been watching pfshooter and he can't emphasise enough about twisting the pouch . He even puts bands between his fingers with no handle at all and twist pouch and no hitting fingers or hand, whilst shooting coins in the air. He even has elastics connected to a strap on his wrist with no danger hitting himself. You may have seen his vids by now if not check him out. He does a drive by sling shot vid as well shooting objects from his car while driving. Only prob there's no answer why twisting pouch stops slapping. Ps. You got me addicted to sling shots great vids john as I've got new hobby gonna start making me own. All the asdas near me don't sell the phera bands tho
Hi, John, would be great if you could get hold of some hi tech camera gear, and show a really slow motion close up, of what's going on, ! Maybe if you put a request at the end of the next video, someone who's got the gear, could help you with the filming, , then we'd all have the diffinitive reference vid, to end other people's speculation , !? ? Just a thought, cheers mate, keep up the good work, all the best, John W.
pfshooter also bends the pouchdown after twisting He has a slomo vid Showing the pouch going over the forks. He also held an egg at the level of the fork tips, and with the twist and bend, the egg isn't touched. I shoot bareback using the twist and bend technique. I don't get hit when I remember to do both twist and bend.
Take a look at pfshooter he has a lot of videos tilting forward and never a fork hit. I liked your acrylic slingshot you made shaped like a bat great job.
Very interesting , ..thanks a lot for sharing , ......I've always thought that pouch twisting is done to increase the accuracy , just to give the ball somekinda spin similar to a projectile shot through a rifled gun barrel . Cheers , 61diemai
Well fork hits with a PFS make sense, there is just no space for the ammo to pass over the fork obviously. That's why you twist the pouch, your finger makes a speed bump effect for the ammo and that causes it to fly over the fork. PFShooter made a lot of videos on that, check him out on youtube. The last test when you emphasized the pouch tilt is called tweaking the pouch and it really helps not to get fork hits. The emphasizing of fork tilt is new to me though. Good test anyway, cheers!
I understand that i makes the shot more forgiving . So if the shot is a bit out of line it will go high in the fork instead of into the fork . But if you have a near perfect release it realy dosnt matter.
hi john can i ask you something ok im already asking how can i make slingshot pouch out of pig skin the stuff that is on the chops of meat please respond
So... It appears that pouch twisting definitely decreases the chance of a fork hit. Not sure why though. =\ I think that the fork hits were being caused by gravity, and the reason it was not fork hitting when you were aiming up was because you were counteracting some of that force. I think you should repeat this but with the slingshot tilted forwards instead of the bands aimed upwards. I predict a fork hit with a forward lean and horizontal bands.
