To whom do we pray in the time of need? A questioner wants to know how he can reconcile his idea of prayer - that he is praying to someone - with the non-dual understanding that there is no distinction between subject and object.
Rupert explains that nearly all the devotional literature of the great religious and spiritual traditions is expressed in the form of the subject-object relationship - but it’s just a form, just a way of speaking. The same is true of prayer. The main thing to understand is that the God to whom we might pray is the God that we are. It is a prayer of our self to our self, couched in the limitations of language.
‘But’, Rupert suggests, ‘liberate your idea of prayer from the belief that it is something contained in or expressed in words. It might be, but that’s really the outer form of prayer. I don’t mean any criticism of it. It’s beautiful to pray with words, but that’s really the prelude to true prayer, which is an attitude of the heart, not something we speak with the mouth. Sitting in abidance or abiding as being is the ultimate prayer. Being knowingly the presence of awareness or resting in being is the highest form of prayer.'

just pray in heart for the only one who is behind all the existence...who made us all & this universe from nothingness....whose greater design is in action all where...who is the grand intelligence.....who is the only being all we belong to.....whose is the thought behind all thoughts......who is the being in all beings.....whose love's & intelligence manifestion is all the universe.....he is the who......who deserves all the prayers & praises.....The magneficient & most merciful . Its not about any religion... but the Reality himself .....all religions & all metaphysics belongs to......who is the only source of spirit of awareness of all the knowledge & The Soul of all the consciousness...... who is all where & all aware ..... The omnipotent & omnipresest......The omniscient....... Its not about his name but his feeling ...whatever you call him.....

Consciousness is the solace and haven for the mind. Silence and awareness. I ran into a short video about how to calm your brain when you're in the fight or flight mode, restless and reactive. You gotta press the tip of your thumb and hold it for 15 seconds, then press the edges of the tip for another 15 sec and interchange that for 5 to 10 times. I figured, what that does to you is focuses your mind on counting while you are feeling the pressure, expecting some kind of change... It brings you to the present moment, where you are safe and everything is okl right that moment, until your mind takes you over for another ride through the land of anxiety 😅 Consciousness is your solace and abode in which there's only peace. It's hard to be a human being. It's harder than being a bear or a lion for sure

There is nothing wrong with anxiety, it remains the peaceful consciousness. But we “resist” it because of ego based conditioning. This “resistance” creates the illusion that anxiety is a terrible thing.

In a dire situation, this nondual truth makes you feel like a trapped rat with nowhere to go, nothing greater than you to help you. And while it's a beautiful message when life is going well, when you are greatly suffering this advice essentially takes away every hope for relief from some greater power. For 99% of normal people, the nondual perspective of "you're on your own, there is only you (i.e. no help is coming)... but isn't that beautiful?" will understandably never be as popular as traditional dualistic religion.

Dualist believers who have experience feel the presence of God, so they do not blindly believe, but experience the presence of God, although they do not identify this presence as themselves, but in a dualistic way, as another thing, while they feel that God is in them and they are in God. Although they impose a dualistic point of view on their lives, they nevertheless know and experience God's peace. Not all religious people have the presence of God at the level of living, that is, in such a way that the presence is in the foreground. Many religious people only blindly believe in ideas, and the presence remains in the background, because it remains completely unnoticed in the midst of many ideas. In a terrible situation, presence can easily come to the fore, there is no need to pray, no matter what religion. A person who professes non-dualistic principles can also see the presence as another, more powerful thing, it is allowed to do so, and even the separated self basically sees the presence of God in the background as an independent existence.

Ive been a Buddhist for many years but am re-connecting with Christianity. I feel almost instant peace surrendering to God who is the Other, even though on some level I know there is no duality. With Buddhism, I just feel utterly alone.

If you believe in God, an all good God. Tragedy is where your faith is tested. You must have faith that there's a reason God allowed it to happen or in the case when somebody you love has a terminal illness. You should pray, "Please God let my loved one heal, but let thy will be done, not mine." This is the faith of Abraham. He was instructed to do the act of killing his own son, an act that no man in his right mind would do. But he had faith in God that he needed to do it. Then God told him not to do it. Abraham passed the test of his faith.

I don't feel Rupert addressed the issue. When we pray to God or a higher power, we are essentially asking for something to be different than it is. We are acknowledging our limitation in attaining that desire by ourselves.We surrender to a Higher power who appears to be different than us just by using that word. Even the most devout atheist will spontaneously scream out to God in a catastrophic situation. I don't think pondering God as Myself will work when confronted with a dire situation.

Maybe Graham ought to look into the theistic schools of Vedanta, they might suit him better?

Rumi was a Sufi Muslim , i wonder what Rupert means when he says “i am a closeted Sufi” I know Rupert would reject any kind of spiritual authority like organized religions , and i always wondered why Rumi with his wisdom still submitted to religion even if he was more mystical than a regular “believer” . Did i misunderstood anything here ?

Sufi philosophy deals with the purification of inner self and is the way which removes all the veils between the divine and humankind. No matter what religion one subscribes to; GOD will allow it. The stillness between the prayers is the stillness of GOD. Your true essence is That stillness; not your action, words, or deeds.🧘‍♂️ Be still and know that I AM 🙏

so, from some where, Gods name, becomes a mental construct, "I am" , (?) but what of "the name that can be named is not the eternal name". then references, God is a BEING called "I am"? where does that come from, other than inferences in biblical Christian text? and then, the notion of asking ones own consciousness to be "mental" and define its nature (as "i am"), seems to be a "slight of hand" word play, to allow ones experience to be synonymous with God. the despair in this woman's experience suggest she has no capacity for feeling or being the embodiment of God ( or a sentient Being in Nature). although how ever true the reality (or capacity) of existing in "the pure light" (of God) may be, to attempt to make ones self the "God (mental) consciousness or "i am", seems to be asking the finite to become synonymous with the infinite by virtue of "willing it" (rather than being of the experience of it, or being in symbiosis ) . ... i really like Rupert's work and videos, but, for me, the use of "i am", always leaves me at a loss. .... the conscious expression of Nature is typically seen as the divine (in motion) made manifest, not mental, and Man takes his place within this context, whose EXPERIENCE is not mental either. " the Way of".. or "in relation with", may be more of how it is HAPPINING. mans BEING develops as an integral "by product" of Natures processes and their underlying forces or energies. in this respect, the spiritual development and stability of Man is only as good as his searching out or exercising practices that allow the divine (or light ) within to be revealed. this then begins to suggest to "pray for assistance", might not be as stable a position of existence as one that exist in "direct experience" with that which is "written by all things, strong to all things". be of the experience of the "unknown", with the mystery of it all, the primal vision, the compassion which is ever yielding and allowing for that which just IS.

It seems to me messy and illogical that first we create god, go thousands of years with the idea that it is something special just to after a circle come back and realize it is ourselves. Conclusion, there was never a justification for god yet some still use the word. Why?

But which God, because there is/are many God's because there are many religions whom all claim their God is the God. It's marvellous how a religion requires a God to confirm their/a religion. The problem here with this teacher is he is using God as the I am as your Being and still labels it with a Divine to fit in with his Guru teachings. Thats using two words to avoid confrontation. And then in the next breath you are praying or speaking to your Being. But the Being whom you are talking to within has not been explained how that within that you are talking to, derived. So, what is the real presence of self/Being within and how did it derive. It would have to be physical in nature because you are a physical intelligent species. Let's not use consciousness because consciousness is non physical and required something physical to be a faculty of. This teacher like many are only placing their own spin on beliefs without explaining exactly how it all derived in the real physical terms of everything. Consciousness did not form the Universe. Nor did a God form the Universe. So if you are praying or speaking to yourself, that would mean you are the God, we all are the Gods. There is an answer and unfortunately this teacher does not have a clue what that answer is and if he did he would not say for fear of blaspheme fate. Jesus had the answer but God believers nailed him to a cross for blaspheme.

@@ninianmilne The Soul is only a Spark, the very Spark that caused your Iteration Function for the beginnings of your lineage at its inception at an epoch. The physical source within you that formed at its inception at an epoch, formed to form the intelligent species and evolve its lineage as its been doing for aeons. The evolving process of the intelligent species requires a reproductive system and that physical source within is fully knowledgeable who best your human form would be suited to breed with and hence its emotional tool comes into play. That emotional tool one would call Love, followed by conception to breed and evolve the intelligent species and secure that physical source within existence. No God had a hand in that process. We the intelligent species physical source came from the Universe matter, therefore we are the gods because we came from out there. We are the Divine unto ourself. Love thyself and one another. It's not your choice. It is imprinted within.

@philmason7860 Well like I said, all so called Teachers/Guru's, whatever you want to call them are only placing their own interpretation on spiritual beliefs and parroting each other from what they have learned and Kenneth Wapnick is no different. No Teacher/Guru has a clue how the intelligent species formed because if they did, they wouldn't be saying what they are saying and expect you to believe. I mean I had a quick look at a Kenneth Wapnick video and it was enough for me at a 5 minute mark where he places a lot of emphasis on EGO, as all teachers do. What he thinks about the EGO told me he does not have a clue how the EGO derived and for what purpose and that tells me all of his teachings are out of whack. Basically he is speaking out of his rectum. Quote; your comment. You only said those words because you learnt that belief from somewhere and you don't know either that God/Christ are spirit eternal infinite etc. Thats just your merry little belief. For a start, When did a god first come to the realisation he is a god. A spirit is part of a person, that means you have to be a person first to have a spirit which is the so called soul, but, how and when did that soul first form. Your soul/spirit is just a SPARK for life that set of your physical source iteration function for your lineage of the intelligent species. Yes , your physical source within is seperate from your physical body and brain. Yes , the intelligent species was formed perfect because if it wasn't, it would not form in the first place if any of the fusing elements were missing. No God had a hand in that process. Getting back to your great leader Kenneth Wapnick ego interpretation. The EGO is just a tool to send and receive messages from the physical source within to the physical brain via the neurone cells transmission lines for the purpose of being aware of ones surrounds and evolving the intelligent species, like its been doing for aeons.

In my case, all my knowledge comes from my imprinted knowledge that was afforded to me from my lineage at its inception at an epoch which formed to form intelligent species. All the something in the Universe we see today came from Nothing, but that Nothing must have been in another form of something. Which means prior to Nothing, there was the Eternal/time, but the Eternal/time was just another form of Nothing which was another form of Something. Therefore your God was Something in matter form, just in another form. It would have to be, that cannot be denied. Now you won't read that information anywhere because it came direct from my imprinted knowledge. Going by that, do you really expect me to believe what you are saying or what the Video teacher is saying or anyone is saying. I would be kidding myself and live a life of confusion like they do. Quote; " A Course of Miracles" more like a course of Mackerels.

@philmason7860 Buddhism still prays to Buddhas for inspiration and supernatural figures. The only reason they do that is because they don't know who or what a God is. I said Jesus had the answer because Jesus knew there is no God because Jesus said , " I and the father are one" Hello! he didn't say he is God, he just said he and the father are one, which means there is no God, there is just him ie you only. And then God believers nailed him to a cross for blaspheme. Of course Jesus and we are the Gods because ewe came from matte from the Universe. We are also the Messiah due to our imprinted knowledge, if one cares to allow themselves be enlightened by the imprinted knowledge presence.
