Jonas has balls of stainless steel. Unbelievable. What a performance closing the gap on Pogacar and then winning the stage. Congrats, Jonas. He's back.
Yes, he is strong... But did he have balls to attack? No😊... I still like Vingegaard as a person, but as a racer it is boring... All time behind the wheel all time only catching attacks... Meh
I really do not give a flying f about the strength of anyone’s balls and what material they might or might not be made of. But Jonas is still the sickly prince 😂
everyone is criticizing those 4 guys. remco fans, jonas fans, tadej fans, primoz fans, everyone should stop whining and realize what a presious privilege it is to watch those 4 magnificent riders participate in the tour de france at the same time. I hope they will all be in good health in good shape so that we can witness these beautiful mountain stages regardless of who wins.
Finally, someone say it loud! Tired of reading insulting comments everywhere! Just enjoy the show all this BIG champions make for us - the fans of cycling!
True Being a Remco I agree with him. At the moment, Jonas and Tadej are above him. To be honest so far, Remco is doing well. I hope he does not crack like at the Vuelta of last year.
Hooray for Jonas!! So happy to see him come back after such an awful crash earlier this year. I love how Pogacar and Jonas work together when needed, and compete when necessary. Much respect to both for the great sportsmanship, way to set the example!
That stage will go down as a classic! It needed the break away from Tadej to start it. You can see him and Jonas are still the two main guys! If anyone doubted Jonas’ fitness and heart then they won’t question it again for the rest of the tour. Roll on Saturday for another exciting stage.
I guess, nobody will doubt about Jonas shape anymore. But there is still a question mark around Visma. I don’t believe that Visma can help Jonas as they did 2022/23. But already now, this TDF is amazing!
@@marcushanemann2510 you’re right! UAE look much stronger on the climbs. It’s still Tadejs to lose but that would have took a psychological blow, no doubt about it.
definitely, i'm so tired of so many haters saying he never attack or whatever other bullshit its just like Djokovic in tennis, some haters who dislike him all the time
Great to see Vingegaard in form. Race is on! Also any race with Pogačar is so much fun. Win or lose he makes it so much fun for TV!!! Great stage today
It's unbelievable. What a character Jonas has. Tadej is more explosive, but once Jonas gets climbing, no one else is better in the long mountain stages. Tadej better watch out. Go Jonas.
Wow wow wow go Jonas, such an emotional interview from him, I was in tears feeling his relief, gratitude to family 👪 and realising I'm in this. Fantastic 👏👊😎
Primoz continues to hang around, just. Remco was humble, Jonas was ecstatic, Tadej was presidential. Yes, the bravado from the gravel stage has been set aside. What a second half of the TdF we shall have!
@@Hubertus-ko6yl Unlike Pogacar, Jonas knows you dont attack week 1-2 for little or no gains and waste energy. I like watching Pogacar, because his attacks are entertaing, but thats not how you win the TdF. Wheelssucking sound like a good strategy for him now.
@@Hubertus-ko6yl Lol, you write that like it's a dis... It's what you do in cycling. You preserve energy, as much as you can, so you have it when you need it. Like he did today, when he wooped Pogacars ass!
@@beatrix2523 He crashed badly in April, punctured a lung, broke his collarbone (that days after were operated and assembled with screws) and broke several ribs. On top he got an internal infection, probably from the operation. 12 days in hospital. For this reason Jonas have not practised on any of this years stages, something Pogocar and many others participating in the race have. Anyway, Jonas injuries were so bad that it are only a top athlete that even can recover so fast let alone compete. Jonas are a beast mentally and on a bike! The crash are all over RU-vid and it are a horrible one. Jonas in NATO position, getting oxygen on stretcher in an ambulance.
You have to give it to Jonas, that effort to get back on the wheel was a masterpiece. He looked exhausted at the end though so do UAE and Pogi actually take more of a positive from today than we first thought? and do they try it again and again until Jonas cracks/they think he will crack? VERY compelling tour thus far.
So far Tadej could be the one cracking. He is not riding smart and instead of being on the defensive he is underestimating Jonas. Jonas is the Champion for a reason and Tadej is wasting precious energy on attacks when he should be the one allowing Jonas to attack in my opinion. Jonas showed he has the heart of Legends...
@@crocopbullDo you really think he is underestimating Jonas? I’d say quite the opposite. The fact that he tries everything in the first and seeking week to gain time to Jonas shows that he doesn’t want to take any risk going into the third week with a low lead.
@Knofris I think Tadej lacks what Jonas has, and that is self-control. Jonas is very strategic and only pushes when he needs to. He is very economical on how he uses his powers. In contrast, Tadej tends to be careless and let's his competitive drive get the best of him at times. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Tadej has to be more cerebral when competing with Jonas as opposed to just relying on sheer strength and explosiveness. These riders are so opposite on how they approached the tour, and that is what makes this tour so intriguing and exciting to watch. Who knows who's going to win, but Jonas is perhaps the most cerebral rider of the gc contenders and has an unbreakable will. Tadej is the most gifted and relentless of them all.
@@Knofris I might be wrong and in all honesty Tadej always competes with the same hunger to destroy every rider in his path ajajaja. If he loses it is not for lack of effort that's for sure.
The balls comment was an answer to a question about Remco's attack on 77 km on stage 9. This has been taken out of context by the media as an attack on Jonas.
@@Medikto uh? The quote was “Sometimes you also need the balls to race,” Evenepoel said after the conclusions of the gravel-heavy ninth stage. “Unfortunately, maybe Jonas didn’t have them today.”
@@Medikto Nope, Remco made a very silly comment about Jonas and there was nothing that was put out of context. I did see his interview. Remco said this in the interview after stage 9. I quote - "Sometimes you need balls to race and Jonas din't have it today".
i´m not a fan of Remco but this is another opportunity he had to shut up and work. I´m Pogi fan though and still have alot of respect for Jonas. Unbelievable.
The back and forth between Jonas and pog last year is what made the beginning great. Having a tight top five and these two champs are making this years great. So good to see Jonas come back from a crash and punctured lung.
I think Jonas has now the psychological upper hand. After his fall a few months ago maybe Pogacar underestimated what he has to do during the TdF and maybe didn't push this much the last three months during his prep. He was definitely surprised how good Jonas was already again. 😅 That doesn't mean that Jonas is the favourite now but I think its much closer than expected. Either way I am convinced that it will be a brilliant Tour with many more tight stages 😄🫶
Pogi 100% more class than Remco. Vingegaard is the only one that maybe can threaten Pogi for the win. They are perfect for each other; 2021 1:2, 2022 2:1, 2023 2:1 - now making the TDF exiting as opposed to the Giro were no one could even think of unseating Pogi - 2024 ?;?.
Such a humble and talented group of riders. It's seriously been quite awhile since I have seen such honest, human answers. Each of these three are at the top of the game and so solid with each other and their performances. Such a pleasure to watch and listen to. Cheers to these great riders. Finally a fun tour to watch. IMHO, Sky made it somewhat boring over the years that they dominated. It seems to be a bit different now.
"To be honest, I think it was a good stage. Winning one of the hardest stages of the tdf is a good result for me, and actually better than I expected."
Guys, please stop insulting these BIG champions! No matter fan of who you are, just respect these incredible riders and enjoy the show! I like all of the BIG 4 (their diferent styles and strengths) and respect every rider in the toughest race in the world!
Jonas is a terrifying grand tour rider. Unbeatable in the high mountains, never has a bad day, and gets stronger over 3 weeks. Tadej was scared enough to go to the Giro this year, because he knows he cannot beat him.
@@casparschulze3391 So he would have an excuse for when he lose. Unfortunately for him, Jonas crashed and has an even better excuse. And now there is no way to hide for Pogacar. He has said himself he's in the best form ever. If Jonas wins the Tour de France even after everything that has happened, we will know who is the best GC rider.
@@Soli11isn’t that why they race? Tadej is giving Jonas all the respect and showed it on the line. Jonas is built to win the Tour de France so it’s a good battle.
Three good interviews. I thought Tadej looked tired at the end of the stage, maybe even with nutrition issues, but he played this down in the interview.
On the Col de Pertus to recover Pogi, Vingegaard averaged almost 420 watts for 12 minutes. Considering the injury he had, these are incredible figures. It means that compared to 2023 he gained in relative terms. Are we facing someone with unique physical characteristics? Why he didn't it emerge so strong a few years ago? How is it possible that such sensitive values improve with increasing age? Is modern cycling that advanced? In other sports, where there is even more money running around, one gets the impression that here we are light years behind. It's true that cycling is above all an individual sport, and therefore for example football doesn't have this push for individual physical performance, but here these values are crazy
This race has the potential to be one of the most exciting and competitive Tour de France events in recent memory. With no clear favorite, the outcome is uncertain, which adds to the anticipation and excitement. May the most deserving cyclist emerge victorious!
In my opinion, there was something wrong with Pogacar's rear derailleur. While descending, he repeatedly glanced in its direction. And the sprint itself? Having so much power in his legs - obviously he was already tired - to attack at such high cadence?
@@Knofris Pogacar have some of the worst doping sinners in the history of the sport working as UAE doctor, sporting directors and coaches. Surely, if Merckx can't be the greatest ever, neither can Pogacar
Excellent, balanced response. You’ve obviously watched a few grand tours in your life. In my mind they are even. The entire UAE squad burned a bunch of matches today. Jorgenson, Kelderman, Lemmon, and Tratnik keeping fresh for this weekend.
Pogacar should have and surely expected to win time today. Apart from stage 17, this is the only stage left that suits Tadej better than Jonas. Now he's only got 1:14 minutes on Jonas. Pogacar is really risking to lose the tour.
Look at his sprint. He couldn’t sprint that long. He didn’t really look ready for the sprint. When he started to accelerate it look like everything was alright but after a few metres his usual burst vanished and he couldn’t continue. Maybe he was just really extremely gassed or didn’t hydrate well enough or had cramps or sth like that.
