I think people don’t know that there’s a difference between being a good streamer and a good gamer. If you are a good gamer, that means you can play games, but if you are a good streamer, you can promote your content, your streams must be enjoyable just like the gameplay, like there’s a reason if you can’t gain more views.

Also being bad doesn't mean you can't get good... Toast isn't there to be a teacher to streamers. Although some might get good eventually, some can't for some reason. And those with potential are basically the ones that can get good, fast. A potential to blow up usually.

Now, these small streamers who havent even been streaming for that long are pressed because the guy was blunt with his honest take. Also, if you've been streaming for a long while but havent reached that 100 viewer mark, obviously something needs to change and be improved upon. But if you glorify your brand as a "small streamer" and expect this to be your source of income, then you are *A BAD STREAMER* (Not a bad person, just bad at your job). Yes, a few of their friends got instant fame but the keyword here is "friends" whom they have known for quite a while, but majority of them amassed large followings on their own. Imagine, CORPSE, *a faceless guy with an unknown identity,* already had over 2 million on YT before being affiliated with the Pewds group and OTV. He didnt need big names to have an audience. he has a point tho, if making the name "small streamer" be your brand then that just means that you are not doing enough or you're not striving to be a big streamer at all. i mean it sounds wrong for him to say that you are not a good streamer but he is just speaking facts, and the truth hurts tbh. idk why so much people now a days are just expecting hand outs from others that are more successful then them just because they helped other small streamers in the past lol.

I can feel so hard for Toast on this cus personally I also just say what people need to hear rather than what they want to hear and they're sometimes very far apart from each other and it fucking sucks sometimes, but nobody's helping you by just echoing back your hopes and dreams at you. Reality is brutal and the truth about it isn't always fun to hear but if you truly want to succeed in not just streaming but life in general, that is indeed the path you'll have to go through. It's not going to be fun or easy for most of us but it is the way to get things done.

he's only speaking facts. Now replace the whole "knowing someone" with "being a girl" and you get what every female streamer that's accused of being succesful only for being female has been saying for years. The people getting mad that others are succeeding are almost exclusevely young men in their late teens up to mid 20's that are getting almost no views and blame it on others "it's not my fault i'm not succeeding it's cause those girls or those friends from someone or this good looking dude are stealing my views" instead of noticing: wait this streamer learnt how to use : photoshop to make their own overlays, emotes, etc they've learnt how to use tiktok and other social medias to bring in people, they've learnt to interact with chat. it's a guarantee that when i see someone say this kind of stuff they are one or more of those things: -they haven't put work into their overlay or emotes or bio - they're not trying to be untertaining - they're not researching how to improve themselves - they sit there not talking because no one is chatting - they think you can still get views by simply being found on twitch (this was true 6/7 years ago but not anymore) -they're delusional and think streaming and making cash is easy - they think all they need is luck to become popular

honestly all the people missing the point don't have what it takes to be successful anyways. if they can't take honest and true criticism, it means they're not open to learn and improve themselves. if you're at the bottom, you're not gonna rise up from crying about how unfair the world is. and yes sometimes it really is unfair, sometimes talented people just never make it because they lack the opportunities, connections, timing, and resources. it's hard to make it as a streamer nowadays, and if you've tried everything and it didn't work out, maybe you should just accept it and move on. it's impossible to demand a push from bigger streamers cause it's not their job to sort through thousands of people to see who has potential and is genuine and deserves it.

I am a very small content creator, so small I don't really update often. I have the mindset that if a small streamer without a consistent schedule gets invited to the OTV server then they're in for a world of hurt. Sure you'd get a sizeable following nearly instantly but can they keep up with that following? Will they be able to entertain that many people? 80% can't! I have seen dozens of streamers on Twitch fail after a bump of 35 viewers out of nowhere. They get so nervous they stop talking as much and fail to read chat. I fit the exact criteria that Toast is describing: I am a bad small streamer. I am indeed s**t at streaming, I know I am! I agree with everything.

I think people think streaming or content creation is easy, so we should help each other get big. Like no to all of that. Streaming is still a job and no matter how much a person may like it, it is still stressful and dealing with people, let alone putting your opinions and life on the internet. Alex Myers just said he created his own living hell with content creation bc you can never stop and expect your fan base and money to still be there. That's so bad for your mental health, so props to Toast for making those boundaries and speaking the truth like always.

I do agree with Toast. it is not easy to entertain and gain audience. it takes time to build yourself throughout the years. I made my own RU-vid channel since last year, and I realized the difficulty to attract audience. I am still working, and was planning to gain side income here and there. But, as long as I enjoyed of what I am doing, I am satisfied, and hopefully the effort will produce results. I record and edit everything by myself btw. Enjoy what you are doing, and don't expect too much

Wholeheartedly agree. The mindset of "being small" as a reason for you to gain special treatment is not the way to grow bigger. Regardless of whether you have the potential or not, if you aren't seeing growth in your life that's not because you haven't been given a chance from someone higher up on the ladder, it's because there is something that can be improved on. This is literally Toast's way of saying "don't limit yourself to being a small streamer, be more." In content creating specifically, there is so much more work done behind the scenes (trends, research, connections, community, interactions, etc.) that getting acknowledged by a bigger creator is irrelevant unless you can demonstrate why you were and should be acknowledged. Be inspired and put in the work! If you're doing it right then your day will come.

Well small streamers aren’t small because they’re bad streamers, it’s because of one or more of these reasons. 1) Their channel is relatively new (as in became active 1 month - 1 year ago) 2) They don’t have connections with other streamers. 3) Their content is not in a fast-growing style. None of these have anything to do with wether a streamer is bad at streaming.
