I'm really curious what "happiness" means to Toast, and if he's considered just aiming to be satisfied instead. Constant happiness is unattainable, and Toast is right about that. But being content and satisfied with your work, your family, your friends and your life is entirely achievable for any person.
Achievable for any person if life allows* I feel the Toast here...maybe. I will never be happy in this life either...but I can still do stuff. You can't be satisfied with a family that dies from cancer, covid, and a bunch of other stuff all in 3 years unless you're a psychopath...or with all but 1 of your friends that distance themselves from you because you're grieving too much or the one best friend because who the fuck knows, just stopped replying...or with a job that got 3x harder with 1.2x the pay and 0.1x the autonomy after acquisition but you can't leave because the couple remaining family have hospital bills and need help with things weekly and you're in a town of 2500 so there is no better job available. Positivity for the sake of positivity is flattery - a lie - and does nobody any good. Guess I could go build a robot family. To the university! Oh wait, money...
@@medigoomnis I don't entirely agree but I understand the sentiment. Some people face a lot more hardship than others and everyone copes with that in different ways. It can be incredibly difficult to see any positives and you're right that trying to force it isn't going to help. But I do still firmly believe that if there's a will there's a way. It can be incredibly easy to hate the position you've been put into in life and spend every day despising it, it's much harder to accept you're in that position and try to make the best of it. It's even harder when you lack motivation, feel depressed etc. but I would never say it isn't possible at all. Therapy is always a good option.
I'm nowhere near as financially successful as either of them but I felt like I could relate to a lot of this. Feeling stuck, feeling as though my life is getting worse despite getting wealthier. It's just jarring to me because Toast seems to have everything I think I want - a close group of friends who he can play random games with, and get into some heavy unfiltered conversations with.
I don’t think relationships fix the problem someone has so sometimes they think once they just have this you’ll be happy, but I personally find u can be happy with what ever and you can do small things and put your self in position to be happy and have fun moments but I don’t think a fully happy life is attainable but enjoying your life as much as possible is and knowing what makes you unhappy helps to
I feel terrible hearing how Toast and Boxbox feel as though they are stuck, knowing they have the money to do more. Although the entire world considers streaming an easy, lucky job, the more invested I get into it, the more I find it is not just a career, but a trade. Almost like selling your soul for success, these streamers are losing themselves in the pursuit of fame.
I’m glad somebody else finally sees this. Somebody that really confirmed that for me was Rae. She said that she literally can’t do anything without people assuming stuff or making things up about her and that must be a terrible feeling.
@@emperorjoker9240 you forgot to mention that she also said she is very lucky and if trade for this way of living is that people assume all this stuff, she gladly accepts it…
@@Tennosoul oh no of course. She Did say all that but it still doesn’t change the fact that she(all of them) still deal with a lot of trials and tribulations.
@@AA-sw6qs I see a lot of people make this argument but I think a lot of y’all feel to realize just how hard that is because you’re still looking at it from your perspective(The average person without a fan base) but, when you actually think about it the mental toll that it must take to have hundreds if not thousands of people shit talking and dragging you on any given day for the smallest thing you do will definitely take a toll on anyone. Keep in mind it’s not as simple as getting rid of social media because they need it to promote their brand.
Having money is the point. The point is that people like Albert or Toast could easily cut back on the streaming to fewer days in the week and explore other hobbies, hobbies which are easy to afford when you have the money and not worry about how you can support yourself, support a family, support your loved ones, etc. And if things don't work out, they can pick up on streaming again till they can find new stuff to do. Just having tons of money in the bank won't give you happiness, but it'll give you the power to explore more aspects of life. Especially as opposed to people who do blue collar jobs that suck up your time and energy for low pay and low job security. Even people with white collar jobs are often in dead end positions that suck up their time and energy, making it hard to build up a personal/family life while also having to consistently gain new skills in order to build up their careers up to a point where they might be able to earn a 10th of what a successful streamer makes in a year.
True but you still have to remember the mental aspect of all of this as well as “the falling off” possibility with how fast things move on the Internet.
@@emperorjoker9240 If you're a multimillionaire and you fall off, you have a very big safety net. if you even have just a million dollars, you can invest like 800K of it in stable ETF's that will likely set you up with lifelong returns. Lets say you're bad at investments, and you only do the very safe investments that give you 1% returns a year (unlikely to ever be that low) but lets say that's what you do. 1% of 800K is 80K dollars a year. Move to some place with cheap rent and low taxes and live an easy life. If you have 2 million dollars, invest 1.5 mill and you'll be earning well over 100K a year at least for free. FREE. Look, I'm not trying to say that the fear they feel isn't real or that they don't feel the stress from being a minor celebrity. We're all people and stress & anxiety, the fear of falling off and losing friends or employment or any career aspects are very common human concerns that everyone feels. I'm just saying that they can literally retire tomorrow and not work another day in their life and still live a very fulfilled life. If nothing else, they can ease their anxiety with that knowledge.
The thing about money is once you have it, you want more. It’s very hard to have a goal in mind and stop there once you get it especially when you are young
Having money is just a benefit in acquiring your needs/wants. In this current glass society we live in, it revolves in looking a certain way in how you carry yourself. Money is like a smokescreen for those that can't acquire their so called "happiness"
@@SuperChronic18 Money is SECURITY. You can find happiness by indulging in various activities and meeting/befriending people who share your interests, which money enables you to do. All that "smokescreen" BS is something people with money like to throw out, about how hard finding happiness is, which in itself is an indulgence. Ask someone working 14 hours a day just to make ends meet about how happy they are...
Obviously having a crap ton of funds and the ability to make said funds just by simply playing with friends would seem like a dream job but when you consider all of the other mental BS they have to put up with from trolls, drama starters, clout chasers, etc, there’s definitely some bad that comes with their job.
Famous and rich people kills themselves bruh..theres no happiness in that..bo said something true though the most happy and contempt people who doesn't have anything but still gives..and the most complaining and ungrateful people is the one in the middle..middle class people
Don't take him too seriously. Remember that he knows he is speaking this stuff on someone's stream and that it'll get picked up by RU-vid clippers and all. He loves being overly dramatic for content.
Toast seems to be really *vainglorious* . He was joking with the other guy about getting some credit for his event, but the underlying thought is that what matters most to Toast is not being good but being thought good . Streaming seems to exacerbate this bad habit.
I think he worries about people seeing him the wrong way, whether that be a terrible person or a great person. He does stuff like donate to charity but will tell his viewers its cuz it was coincidentally a good deed that will get him clout. If he really wanted to be seen as a good samaritan do-no-wrong type person he wouldn’t tell people that.
Toast has evrything, all he needs to be happy is being with someone toast love"s and trust... try getting married or having a kid while your in your peek bro
in my opinion. I pause the game in moments like this, even aim labs. Friends deserve 100% attention - expecially in moments like this where they're vulnerable... time and place is everything and ik he's still being a friend 2 toast but if it were me- I'd just pause it for a sec to be more present for him.
@@jerrysaen im Asian too... being asian has nothing to do with multitasking or what I said lol. I got nothing wrong with multitasking - just wouldn't do it when a friends being vulnerable/emotional to me.
@@reksai7965 he was making a joke, bro. Obviously, they weren't entirely serious in the conversation and albert(boxbox) was trying to warmup for a few games of valo. So, no harm done.
@@Bibblesupremacy1992 im telling u. Thats why so many successful ppl who has everything they need still have a void inside them. There soul needs that connection with their maker
