I would refine it into - there are not nearly as many collabs worth watching, or ones that create urgency for the viewers. If the 5 hottest streamers all collab on a social game similar to amogus in 2020, then asses would be in seats. Problem is, they don't do that shit

@@jumas__roomtake it easy mate ahahah. The comment just seemed like it meant to add into it or better explain what is going on, but just really repeats what was said in the video. It didn't feel like a "in short he is saying", but more like "this is what I think is going on personally at the core of things, so let me explain". Not really an issue whichever way you look at it whatever the intention was in the end, so relax.

he knows way more than me probably, but IMO the problem is not that "collabs" are not cool anymore, the problem is that collabs are not consistent anymore. People was engaged with Among Us in part because it was consistent, like a TV show, with almost a fixed schedule and you could see characters evolve over time. Solo streamers eventually become too niche. Look at OTV people, most of them are stuck in their numbers and games (valo mainly) and they rarely produce any additional content (clippable) that usually is the hook for new audiences. I think from all of them only the rommies have been trying to do it with minimum planning but a lot of will. Currently No Pixel is increasing their numbers like crazy (Sykkuno went from 8k to 15k in a few weeks) and it's because it hits all the checkboxes: Entertaining, massive lore, consistent content and characters who you can engage with over time. This is not a new formula by the way, people wonder why the Spanish community is so big, and one of the main reason is recurrent and consistent collaboration. Sometimes I feel it's mostly an ego issue, bigger streamer not wanting to connect with smaller ones just for the sake of entertainment.
@ItsJustValHere

GTA RP is so good because you constantly watch them interact with different people! And Leslie (and all the roomies) do 2vs2days, that are an awesome idea to collab with friends. And since Leslie/Rae/Sykkuno are constantly interacting with people in NoPixel, they also start inviting them for other stuff like Lethal Company (or the mentioned 2vs2days). It's fresh, you can watch them interact in a lot of ways and play a variety of games so it's hard to be bored, while still maintaining something consistent for now (hoping NP streams last a long time lol)

Def a great phase to move into. Looking forward to it! Always felt that having collab as the main pull made the streamer seem more distant almost. Also, the streamers behave totally different in collabs than they are when streaming alone, which often comes off as less genuine. Great to see that it's shifting away from this.
@GodofGoblins
@GodofGoblins 5 месяцев назад
So I mainly agree, although other factors to consider. If you collab with the same people over and over, then unless the dynamic and content is god like, people will get bored of it. In addition, if people collab and do the same thing over and over (valorant, fortnite, etc) then again, people tend to get over it. That goes across the board, unless you are at the absolute top ultra percentile like Xqc or Kai etc, and even then that is debatable. Put it like this. If amouranth, pokimane, Tyler1, and Lowtiergod did a collab, that would be insane. Record breaking numbers. It almost wouldnt matter what they did. But, if we see valkyrae ludwig janet and peter play valorant again, yeah thats...nothing new. Among Us you could get away with due to factors like covid and change ups on lobbies with different personalities. Hell, people met for the first time with Among Us, leading to unique and interesting collabs. Like "ooh, this person is joining the group? How will that go?" Collabs can work, but its gotta be the right ones and/or the content has to be refreshing.
@oldmatttv
@oldmatttv 5 месяцев назад
There was definitely an element of also "getting to know" the streamers/creators you don't know through Among Us and the dynamics in whatever group was playing. And Rust too I'd say. I got introduced to this bunch through that, and others, and then at some point started picking up on who fits my content preferences etc. Some I started following, others I didn't, and same goes for watching specific groups playing. I will say that Among Us was somewhat unique in that social aspect of the game. It wouldn't have been the same with Valorant collabs, or something else where the focus is more in the game itself rather than the social dynamics and fun interactions.
@burntbacon718
@burntbacon718 5 месяцев назад
facts. OTV content is stale because they collab with the same exact 5-8 people and play the same exact 2-3 games. Collabing is still meta. Look at OTK, they only do collabs and still dominate the twitch metrics rn.
@annojance
@annojance 5 месяцев назад
Collabs that are cross-overs between huge streamers (a combination of those well-established in a gaming space and those who are popular in other circles) can still draw numbers. But that's dependent on the (a) raw popularity of the streamers, and (b) the rarity of the event. Collabs between friends are not going to break records, but communities get comfortably established. It can be somewhat stagnant in terms of relationship dynamics, but it doesn't all have to be a race to the meta for becoming the top streamer. Sometimes, just being able to play the games you want with the people you like while getting enough financial support from a stable community is all you need.
@deathb3rry
@deathb3rry 5 месяцев назад
but to also put it in perspective, there wasnt alot of things streamers could do during covid. Collab meta became meta because that was the best they could do with the lockdown situation. And everyone identified with among us because that was something they could also play. Now that the world's opening up/opened up, streamers can do the content they did before pre-covid and people want to see more exciting stuff
@ophies

Most of the collabs i see nowadays is Valorant, and it's soo boring even if it has my favorite streamers. Valorant is slow and painful that I don't even bother tuning in anymore. The Baldur's Gate and Enshrouded collabs, on the otherhand, were so fun to watch. Even ff14 was interesting. The downside is that with a lot of the collabs, save for BG3, there's no commitment to playing the game, just a couple of days and that's it.

I think there’s a lot of mediums of entertainment that go in cycles. I remember prior to Covid irl streams were really prevalent and everybody did it, and then Covid hit and everybody had it stay inside and we already know what happened, irl streams came back, probably worse than before. And eventually the collab era and etc will comeback, maybe it won’t be with the same people, it won’t be the same since games change or whatever changes. But it’ll come back. I mean the whole irl streaming was getting tiring before Covid. Definitely won’t be like Covid 2.0 tho, but I think streaming goes in a cycle rather than RU-vid for example where certain trends and events won’t ever happen again.

@DatManJB 5 месяцев назад
As someone else said in a comment the hottest streamers don't all collab and the reason being they all feel like the have to stay in their own lane. If streamers just watched other streamers and collabed if they liked a person energy collabing would happen more often. But sad reality is a lot of these streamers when they get off stream don't watch anyone.
@Saimiri1334

I don't think that's true. At least the streamers I always watched since 2015 have always been playing games and react alone/with friends online. This hasn't changed a bit. However since Covid more and more streamers do collabs, yes, but this won't stop I believe. I'm seeing more, bigger and cooler events each year. The streams are still 95% solo/online with friends, but this is how it's been forever

collabs only work if the people u collab with have value, among the OTV circle of friends these days. most of then built their success off of OG OTV's viewers and never had much value to begin with. Which is why OTV worked so well initially. But OG otv members are maturing, so creating content isnt their priority anymore.

there's nothing new about this, this is how streaming has been for at least ten years. all the classic youtubers used to collab once every month or so for a few games (marikplier, jacksepticeye, pewdipie, etc..) the majority of the content was solo plays and then they've schedule a collab every once in a while. it's hard to schedule big groups - especially with variety streamers
@CaiRobinson

I feel like Jinxy reflects more how streaming is becoming less popular. For Streaming to develop it needs actual innovation and people who just stream for hours ain't it. Among US worked because it was interesting to watch and it was essentially a live game show.

The irony is kind of insane. Games are phasing out on twitch , its an entertainer meta. Twitch is along younger then what it used to be for good or bad. But the kids wanna watch OTV play amongus cause either that's there twitch nostalgia or they heard how cool it used to be etc. Keeping yourself relevant is key and alot of people haven't done that and its showing more and more. Last time I saw anything from toast was when hed clickbait his amongus videos, nothing since , not streamers fault its the atmosphere you stay in, same as an actor.
@nightseeker226
@nightseeker226 5 месяцев назад
All the OTV and friends streamers are losing viewers not because of collabs. But because they dont commit as much to streaming anymore, some of them rarely streamed for a while and most of them don't even stream a schedule anymore. Also, half of them moved to youtube, splitting the community in half and lastly, valorant. Unless you're a pro, valorant is just a boring game to watch. If you look at most streamer's twitch stat, it slowly dropped off after covid. But if you look at a non pro valorant streamer, they have a much faster rate of drop off and people associated with OTV were no exception.

He's wrong... its because most solo streamers have all the time in world, they are much more consistent and reliable. compared to big streamer groups where if they wanna make content its so slow since theres alot of moving parts and that slow pace is what makes people lose interest.

I feel like the streamers nowadays have a lack of consistency. They stream when they feel like it and treat it as an afterthought when compared to their bigger projects/priorities. Not gonna say they should not live their lives as they choose to, but their mindset towards their streaming activities will reflect in their results. It seems clear that a lot of the OTV peeps are looking for a way out of streaming, and their audience isn't blind to it.

Personally, I tend to shut off a stream when it feels like the person has forgot they are streaming and they’re just gaming with their friends. It used to be more fun for me to watch that during covid but now I’d just rather hang out with my own friends lol. Give me entertaining gameplay, funny/insightful commentary, and good interactions with chat, over the needless collabs.
@richashby6422
@richashby6422 5 месяцев назад
I'm a much older viewer and most of my friendships have drifted away so for me the entire point is to just enjoy watching friends joke around and laugh with each other. I never turn on chat and the gameplay is secondary to who is in the group of people playing. I actually get annoyed when a streamer interacts with chat so much they forget they're playing a team based game and should be strategizing. I think Toast is probably correct when it comes to new and younger viewers. What we haven't seen yet really is what happens to content creators and their audiences as they age. Can they retain enough of their original core audience to sustain a career or do they have to pivot into other types of content creation or something else entirely. Will their audiences switch to younger creators or just stop watching as the people they originally watched slowly leave the industry.

I kind of agree, it’s why Tenzin is a great streamer. She’ll often join those 5 stacks for League/Valo, but she spends most of the time shooting the shit with chat. Compare that to someone like Sean (who’s hilarious), but he can sometimes go an hour without reading a single chat message because he’s just talking with whoever’s in dc instead. It’s why he doesn’t really have a community even tho he’s the smallest streamer in the friend group.
