I don't think there are any groups like Coast. They are in a league of there own. I hope they are blessed with a long musical career, good health and creativity. These boys deserve everything they have worked so hard for and more. They are upstanding, shining, representatives for hip hop. honoring its founders and the culture while breathing new life into it, bringing it back around and elevating the vibration to new levels yet unheard.

Talk about a perfect collaboration. They fit in perfectly with the visual concept that Tobe Nwigwe presents. I'm so mad at myself for getting on the Tobe Train WAAAAAYYYY too late. But now I'm full on that mo-fo. And Coast Contra is the freshest thing to come to hip-hop in the past 2 - 3 years. That group will do big things, if the kids latch on to them. They already have old heads like me checking for everything they do now.

Hear me out, I mean this. I'm 44yo white dude, been down with hip-hop since '89. I would fall asleep at night listening to Soul 92.1 from Rocky Mount, NC with my generic Walkman. I literally have goosebumps right now. For the 1st time ever the lyrics, music, performers have really hit me deep. I think I'm understanding why people feel taken by emotion with gospel music in church, I can't really explain it. I wish I could see this in person to feel the power of the people and music vibrate in my chest. One day. Thank you Tobe & Coast Contra!

Nah this is soul hop if anything. Mixed with lyric beats. As in the lyrics become a true part of the beat, they decide the next note. This is more powerful than any other people I hear rap, and hip hop. Those dances are ritualistic, this is powerful on the soul. I wouldn't call it pure hip hop.
