News On 6's Robin Marsh sat down for an exclusive interview with country music superstar Toby Keith, where he opens up about his decades-long career and recent battle with cancer.
As someone who works in a cancer center it is so sad watching someone come in looking so healthy and seeing them slowly deteriorate right in front of your eyes. RIP Toby. We love you.
That is so true! My mom did in 1977, I was 5, she was 25. She passed away so fast I never got to see her again or suffer. She went in for exploratory surgery to try trans find out why she felt so bad all the time and never seen her again until her funeral a week later. The oxygen (air) made it grow and quickly. Her death destroyed me as a child but I didn’t have to see her suffer. The doctors did all the tests they had then and never thought about cancer back then from what I was told later in life, I feel so bad for the families watching their loved ones suffer, I can’t imagine their pain!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻God Bless Everyone who has to deal with cancer and God Bless their families!!! Rip Toby Keith🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
@@22addict40I’m so sorry to hear that. I see it everyday. I fall in love with my pts and then they’re gone. It’s the hardest yet most rewarding job in the world.
Yeah Hospitals are disgusting when it comes to cancer treatments. All they care about is money. Especially when there are known ways to treat this naturally. Except you can't really charge the outrageous prices for things like a diet.
I to appreciated Toby’s words. I had AML leukemia, months of chemo and a bone marrow transplant in 2004. My main oncologist (the best) told me my recovery depended a lot on my attitude and ask anybody speaking anything negative to leave. While the light at the end of the tunnel grew only to a flicker, I tried to stay hopeful. Sometimes during the ordeal, our precious HolySpirit whispered in my spirit to use that time with the Lord because when I recovered I wouldn’t have this special time, I’d be to busy. I’m praying for Toby and you others that are battling cancer or any other disease. We serve an awesome God. I praise Him.
@@debbieclayton5856 Been dealing with prostate cancer for almost 2 years. But you are exactly right. Millions of people get cancer every year, but it's not you...until it is! Prayers to everyone here!
Here's some hope. I have battled cancer tinge and tone again. I still have it. I'm in my sixties. Go with your instincts. Good gave you them Fri a reason. Do, or don't do any treatments that are offered. Be open to natural ways. Such as high acidity diet. Works for me.
Toby Keith wasn’t just a legend, he was an awesome human being, a wonderful husband, father, and a great Christian man. You can walk up to this man in public, and he would shake your hand and have a conversation with you. And what makes him an all American country music artist is, you can walk up to this man Toby Keith have a full conversation with him and he would never guess he was a multibillionaire. Toby Keith is a multibillionaire, but a true humbled man.
God gave him peace, god gives me peace, he takes away our fears and lets us know we will never die. Be kind and may the lord give you that faith that will give you eternal life ❤
I was Active Duty Military, I grew up listening to this dear man , his songs were great, he helped so many Veterans ❤😢 rest in power dear Sir , you have given so much good to this world 🙏🙏
@@TobyKeith-musicgp1dt Does that blue moon ever shine on you? makes me wonder how your feeling, want so much for you to recover, in my heart💞and prayers 💖
As a cancer survivor, and a fan of his music, there are just no words to show my love for TK. Cancer didn’t win! The good Lord called him home for his greater purpose. Thank you for sharing your gift with us. You say that you should’ve been a cowboy? Sir, you were much more than that. ❤
I too am fighting cancer.. colorectal cancer.. 2 surgeries & a small 3 cm tumor in my left lung & hopefully maybe it's all gone..I too am in the place where my faith helps me face whatever comes..ppl that have never taken radiation or chemo have no idea. May God bless you & strengthen you Toby & give you the strength to fight this..
God bless you. I've had stage 4 (22 cm tumor) and stage 2 (3 cm tumor). I'm on chemo for life. After having 80% of my stomach and half my pancreas removed, God gives you a sense of peace. I know Toby Keith felt it. Stay positive. Never give up. God knows when your time is up as do you. Do not stop believing. One day at a time. Every day is a gift, a precious gift. Never forget that. I'm 10 years on from the first encounter. May God grant you another 30 years or more. Embrace your gift. Every day.
Rest in peace!!! I just lost my brother to lung cancer on Jan 24th!!! You both are now resting in the sweet arms of Jesus!!! God bless you family! May He bless you with His sweet peace!!!
What a beautiful song. Rest in eternal peace to a True Patriot and an amazing person who contributed so much to Country Music. Thank you Toby Keith. My condolences to your family and friends. ❤🇺🇸
As a man of 59, i watched my Father whither away, he told me "Son, i am dying and it is okay"...not a tear ran down his face, he went to wherever that place is with dignity and being brave like Toby did....may i be as brave like my Dad and Toby one day.
It's not FAIR? Tell THAT to your man invented daddy in the sky. Toby is alive now (temporarily like all of us) because of SCIENCE. All religions are cults and life has absolutely NOTHING to do with what's fair or not. Maybe you JUDGE someone else more deserving of his cancer? Like me for instance, because in your world of judgemental hypocrisy and religious fascism I am a heathen and blasphemous. Pray on that.
I experienced esophageal cancer beginning in 2013. I went thru the chemo, radiation and the surgery. Your words are exactly my words. My wife was the greatest nurse. Everything you said is true. It has been more than 10 years and I am still looking over my shoulder. I am still suffering the after effects of the ordeal but I’m hanging in there. I’m 71 years old and I’m not letting the old man in.
I just don’t understand why so many people are getting such fast cancer and he was healthy and you know he also did get the big V💉 and I just wonder if there’s a connection and if anybody knows. Gosh, I loved his music and he was such a good guy. What a huge loss and what a beautiful man and soul and talent.
Toby is a strong and amazing man and a very talented singer and song writer his music really touches the heart and soul of all his fans he is a true icon❤
RIP Toby. You’re an American Patriot. Loved our country, supported it decades after decades. You were simply an incredible man. Thank you for your never ending consistent love of people & your family . What an example you have left behind.
Well see you again toby... I bet there's not a bad seat in the house of the Lord tonight. You touched so many lives and as a veteran I thank you so much for the patriotic songs my kids listen to them w me all the time. You are missed so very much already.
He's the only performer that I can sit and watch over and over again and it never gets old.He was charming, funny, and personable all through his career-a very much loved performer and human being.
So sad to lose another beautiful soul 💔 You will live on in us all through your music. It's never a goodbye, just a so long for now. Fly high Toby Keith! ❤️
@@TobyKeith-musicgp1dt I think Your a Wonderful, Brave Man with what your going through, and I pray for you each night to stay safe, healthy, and get through that cooty, you have in your body. ❤️

My husband and I were lucky enough to be at the People's Choice Awards in Nashville last September and got to see him. That is the third time I have been lucky enough to see him. What an amazing brave Man. Keep going Toby! You are my #1
Oh my I just love Toby Keith so much! I am so thankful to God that he is in heaven, and that I will get to see him one day. God bless his family!❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
I had the pleasure of meeting him in a airport in Canada. He was so sweet and kind. Praying for cancer to be removed and may God continue to heal you sir!♥️🙏🏻♥️
I remember when Toby was talking about the title of "I Love This Bar." He said he should have titled it, "I Love This Church." Thanks for the music and being a patriotic American. RIP ❤️ 🙏
Sadly, he lost that battle but now, but now, he performs in front of the individual who gave him that talent to entertain his fans. Thanks for your Music and the number of the hits you recorded. R. REST I. IN P. PEACE
And He just passed away an hour ago about 3 am here . This is so unreal he looked like he was doing ok 10 days ago and just like that He's gone. RIP Toby.
Such a very sad day!! Thank you Toby for the gift of you and your music, that will live on forever in our lives. Now you will not know any more pain, as you walk with the Lord! R.I. P. Toby 🙏 You will be forever missed.
3:44 What ever gets you through the day. ive been faithless my whole life. at 29 i had to face my mortality. at 63 im still at peace with whether i live another 10 years or die tomorrow.
Bless his heart!! He’s been to the top of the mountain and back down to the bottom yet his faith remains!! Prayers for you and your family we love you 🙏
Love you Toby stay strong. My husband has terminal cancer and his faith is what is he is holding on to. I am trying to be strong and my faith is what I am holding on to. Thank you for your strength Toby.
Such a a courageous man. This is an interview that shows a man at his most vulnerable. He demonstrated such grace and positivity. We can all take away, learn with dignity. ❤
I was diagnosed with Colon cancer and Non hogkins Lymphoma almost 6 years ago now. I was 36 and after multiple surgeries and chemo I was doing better then a scan showed it had spread to my liver. They removed close to a third of my colon and a quarter of my liver. Not at the same time but then I had to go through chemo again for my liver. It's not really the cancer that gets you in my opinion and going through it. It's the toll on your body from the treatments and surgeries. You do come to a point though where you're at peace with what happens. You're not afraid to move on from this world anymore. No matter if you believe or not having Faith helps and I don't care what anyone says prayers do also. Now I'm a year into remission but if I get lucky and it doesn't come back again and get me the side effects of the "cure" will eventually. I was a big guy like Toby. I'm 6 foot 6 and was 250. I fell down to 128lbs fast before they found it. After it was all done I still can't eat or gain weight back. 140 is as much as I've weighed since I got diagnosed. Everyone that is just now getting diagnosed have hope. They're getting close to a actual cure and for those that have been fighting please don't give up. Enjoy everyday and tell your loved ones that you love them every chance you get. Rest in Peace Toby.
@@returnofthemac2951 Thank you for the kind words. I'm not sure if your mother is still with us and I hope she is. If not Im sorry for your loss. Yes the treatments are so hard on your body. I never had heart problems until I went through all of this. It just destroys everything. You know you saw it first hand unfortunately. I will pray for your family.
@@chrisrose_krii_lun_aus Thank you. Unfortunately, my mom passed from her bladder cancer at 61 y/o a couple of years after her diagnosis. That was back in 2002. Like most everyone that I knew who was ever diagnosed with cancer, it always seems like two years is the life span after diagnosis. I just turned 61 y/o this past October, so it has made me think about it all over again. Anyway, you seem to have truly beaten it, and I am very happy to see that someone has done so. God bless you with a healthy life from this day forward. 🙏
@@returnofthemac2951 I'm sorry to hear that. Possibly I could have but I thought that once before also but so far nothing showed up on my last checkup so hopefully. If I could just start gaining some weight and eating again I think I could get back in shape but I stay malnutritious and I'm anemic now. I don't feel like doing anything and I still have to force myself to eat. I have no appetite for anything. I don't get cravings for anything. I could literally starve myself to death with a kitchen full of food. When they removed that much of my colon nothing stays with me long enough to absorb the nutrients I need. I can eat and a lot of the times the same day I use the bathroom and it's undigested food I had eaten earlier. Pretty much they straight piped me. I go and have iron and vitamin transfusions once a month and it helps but nothing does with my appetite. I had to stop eating most foods. I have a diet I've got written down of foods I can eat still that don't go straight through me. I have faith though that they'll find something to help. We've tried a lot of stuff and it might work for a little while with digesting the food but it always stops working after a few weeks so we try something else.
How Do You Like Me Now was his response to Nashville, producers who said he didn't have what it takes after he released his first album, his ex-, and everyone else who said he sucked, although plenty of them jumped on his bandwagon when he rose up the charts. Toby is the epitome of the Underdog. I do wish I got to see him in concert before he died. Much love and courage to his wife and children. Not every father leaves a legacy. As for I'm concerned, Toby Keith will always be a national treasure.
Breaks my heart he was the first country singer I ever went to a concert & fan club party. He is still the big heart he always has been life knocks us down but e have to appreciate the man to appreciate his music. May God give him the strong man I always admired. It was an absolute blessing to have met and get the real Toby Keith. Go kick cancer’s butt. Your fans still love an admire the man, the musician, his heart ❤️ to be is absolute best and will always be the best. Love you Toby & Tricia ❤️
