I have heard from others it might be related to their tendency to develop arthritis. Supposedly they will stand in deep water for quite a long time as it soothes the joints. Common behavior especially as they get older. On the other hand they may just be that way by personality, who knows the inner workings of the dogs mind?

linrichieable yes they do. The white dog in my profile photo is Jake. He’s my medical service dog. He knows so many things and commands....he also knows so much without a word being said. Some of it is instinct, and some is training. I adopted him as a puppy at 12 weeks old......in fact, the day he was neutered. Within the first month, without training, he was alerting before my seizures. Then he started alerting of my sugar was too high or low as well as if my heart was beating abnormally. Even before my alarm went off. So yes, dogs r so incredibly intelligent.

guardians animal rescue/ state certified 501c3 such a typical retriever. I had a black lab that would belly flop in mud puddles and the dirtiest water he could find. Then just sit there even if there were little ice bergs floating by. They understand what you’re saying.

My Labrador used to do the same. Every mudpit, puddle, lake or river. Guaranteed he's going to jump in it. But I loved to see him having fun.

Recipe for a perfect chocolate lab: 1-Get yourself a Toby 2-Let your Toby go into the swamp 3-Let the Toby soak in swamp water for a 5-8 minutes 4- Don't forget to dunk the head in 5-panick and shout from ashore There you go! Just why??? 🤣🤣🤣When I first saw the photo, I thought it was a rescue organization posting about a dog stuck in icy mud. Awww. Toby was the name of my old brown golden doodle, he was such an annoying little goofball! He had separation anxiety and he was so dramatic. We had to put him down in February because he had cancer, it’s weird to think he’s just a memory. This just reminds me of exactly something Toby would do, and your dog looked like Toby after he got in the mud

Toby clearly understands the importance of a good mud bath 😅 I allow my pups to swim & do the same. It's nice seeing a dog owner allowing their dogs to be free--to run, to play, to swim, to get dirty--as they were intended to. Besides, there's nothing a good bath can't fix!! 😉💞🐕
