Here is a "Today in Music History" segment that was sponsored by Sun Country Wine Coolers. It has a 1985 copyright, but I'm pretty sure this aired in '86 (on a Philadelphia station).
"The Stripper" was a song spontaneously conceived in the studio as a time-killer, but went on to the the top spot of the charts on July 7th, 1962. It would be composer David Rose's only hit.
As for what King Kong has to do with any of it, I think the film must have been in the public domain at the time, so Man in the Moon Productions figured what the hell, let's throw the big guy in there and kill some time of our own...
