Reading 1: Acts 14:19-28
Resp: Ps 145:10-11, 12-13ab, 21
Gospel: John 14:27-31a
Tuesday of Fifth Week of Easter
Lectionary: 286
Reading 1: Acts 14:19-28
Now certain Jews from Antioch and Iconium arrived there. And having persuaded the crowd, they stoned Paul and dragged him outside of the city, thinking him to be dead. But as the disciples were standing around him, he got up and entered the city. And the next day, he set out with Barnabas for Derbe.
And when they had evangelized that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them that they should remain always in the faith, and that it is necessary for us to enter into the kingdom of God through many tribulations. And when they had established priests for them in each church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, in whom they believed. And traveling by way of Pisidia, they arrived in Pamphylia. And having spoken the word of the Lord in Perga, they went down into Attalia. And from there, they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had now accomplished. And when they had arrived and had gathered together the church, they related what great things God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. And they remained for no small amount of time with the disciples.
Responsorial Psalm: Ps 145:10-11, 12-13ab, 21
R.(see 12) Your friends make known, O Lord, the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Let all your works, O Lord, praise you: and let your saints bless you. They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom: and shall tell of your power.
R. Your friends make known, O Lord, the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
To make your might known to the sons of men: and the glory of the magnificence of your kingdom. Your kingdom is a kingdom of all ages: and your dominion endures throughout all generations.
R. Your friends make known, O Lord, the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless your holy name for ever; yes, for ever and ever.
R. Your friends make known, O Lord, the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Alleluia: See Lk 24:46, 26
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Christ had to suffer and to rise from
the dead, and so enter into his glory.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel: John 14:27-31a
