Kids out here in Australia 🇦🇺, don't realise that these blokes were revered around the world, and still are, especially here IN Australia. We've had our own good cricket sides from Australia, but when you're still getting hidings off them, you have to pay homage. Respected and loved. Flashback to my childhood days during the 80s back in the Caribbean witnessing the most dominant team in cricket history. The depth of talent was something to behold. The bowling attack? Not much needs to be said. In my opinion, the best ever. And though most of the spotlight falls on Sir Viv (and rightfully so), he didn't have to carry a burden because there were just so many guys who could carry an innings - Haynes, Greenidge, Gomes, Richardson, Dujon, Sir Clive Lloyd). Felt like these guys could never lose. The golden era of West Indies cricket! Just a shame what it has become now

No wonder they never needed a spin bowler! You got to feel sorry for the opposition batsmen, it was relentless top class fast bowling, over after over after over...
By 1983 Colin Croft and Sylvester Clarke were no longer a part of the WI team. They last played for the WI in 82 and by 83 they had gone on a rebel tour to South Africa
Actually in 1979/80 it was Holding, Roberts, Garner, and Colin Croft, with Marshal and Silvester Clarke as back ups. Marshall got in the team because Croft went on the rebel tour.
I remember when West Indies toured India in 1987 ,in a one Day match a commentator mentioned that Captain of West Indies Viv Richards also played football very well other than cricket.
I just wish I was older so I could have seen such a great generation of cricketers. Just imagine them bowling to virtually any of the batting line ups around the world now. They would destroy everyone anywhere.
+CFAN123 Holding was frighteningly quick. Joel Garner wasn't as fast but with his height he generated so much bounce that most batters couldn't handle him. And Viv? Even when he was belting Aussie attacks all around the ground he was still a joy to watch. Then when you added others like Andy Roberts, Colin Croft, Malcolm Marshall, Clive Lloyd, Gordon Greenidge, Gus Logie, Larry Gomes, Desmond Haynes, Richie Richardson and Jeffrey Dujon......the West Indies of the late 70's and through the 80's was one of the most awesome lineups in history. Three true legends of cricket right there.

@@berbatov3890 Today's cricket or modern day cricket is no comparison to the great legends of yesteryear.Boundaries tend to shorter and with all the protection,armour the Windies pacers still manage to inflict injuries and in some instances end careers.The great Viv didn't even wear a helmet or mouth guard because it affected his chewing of gum, these guys had hearts and balls to take and give in any country what ever!

# Two pace attack and one of the best ever batsman viv to me he is the king of best. The chat is absolutely nice and these trio dominated in the cricket field is goosebumps for me. Viv is so cool and and always chew the gum with his own style. I didnt noticed till now any angry moments. He places the ball especially against Ian Botham is absolutely fantastic to figure out the gap. I pray 🙏 to god to give all almighty and good health for all cricket legends legends yesteryears and today.
