I love fitzie. But out of line talking Todd's lawyer to have him plead guilty. That's outrageous from a judge who is supposed to be impartial & people are innocent til guilty.
@@Justicia007she shouldnt have been the judge having presided over the 1st trial & i recall her furious w/ nora throwing the case. She recommended her to be disbarred
@@nattyps3160 she was certainly right about Nora. That was outrageous and would have resulted in her being disbarred for sure. There's no bar to the same judge hearing more than one case on a defendant but if you're going to presume the person guilty then you shouldn't be the judge in that situation.
So ridiculous because it would have been pretty easy to prove that Todd had his hand bandaged at the hospital. They can go to the roll of bandages In Marty's office and match it to the bandage. Bingo! Not even sophisticated forensics but it works..
Also it's so wrong ethically for fitzie to speak about Todd's past performances & only give them a week to prepare " 7 more days that *i* wish to give him. What happened to justice is blind. I do understand denying bail as he does have a history of fleeing. But if he did he would go back to statesville b/c of the conditions on his pardon anyway. Hallie should have requested a new judge.
Absolutely unethical! judge assuming guilt without even giving the defendant a chance for a fair trial. What a total railroading! They should all be ashamed of themselves! The cops are totally biased too
@@Justicia007i agree. Marty i understand doesnt want to help him but that means 2 other women that were raped wont get their rapist brought to justice & could keep raping. Interesting when alice was raped then debbie the writers werent planning for it to be powell. Once the writers decided to make him the lord heir & saw the chemistry w/ blair over rebecca. Todd put grew her & fans were annoyed about powell on a pedastal. Plus powell & rebeccas stories were totally dependent on todd. They wanted to move rh & todd away from the dark college crowd of kad. The rape was never forgotten but they had to get away & close it about. Susan haskell gave an interview in late 94 saying she wanted marty to also move on to other things new relationships stories but sadly martys story wound up always about todd even the 9 months todd left in nov 95.
@@nattyps3160 That's interesting I didn't know the writers were planning on having the rapist not be Powell. They weren't still thinking of it being Todd were they? Because by that point they were already rehabilitating Todd, and they knew they wanted to keep him because of the talent of Roger Howarth.
This shows clearly a real flaw in the justice system. When a defendant is actually innocent, And just absolutely refuses to plead guilty because he's innocent, They usually come down on him even harder for pleading not guilty.
@jondrake1977 This reminds me. Where was Sam Rappaport during all of this? Later we find out that they had a "father/son" bond, and looking back at these scenes, it really makes 0 sense that he wouldn't be mentioned. Obviously they didn't create the character until 1998 or whatever, but I'm just noting lol.
@Thought Soldier ita w/ everything you said but on top of justice for alice debbie & rebecca getting the real rapist also stops him from future victims. I dont know why nobody brings that up except for todd in one of my top 10 all time not just todd or todd & marty moments but oltl scenes. The " vengeance is mine sayeth Marty u better pray hard that nobody else has to die for my sins. " ty todd !! During these times todd was at his smartest & most rational. Hell he broke the case before any of bo or his " boys in blue " did. Stupid andy wouldnt even believe him when he found Powell's " todd museum" when marty does come foward w/ an alibi it was all about herself not a shred of care about the nurses & rebecca it was all about her " I'm not going to play judge & jury w/ your life" how bout I did it for this guys victims & esp for his future ones. Powell was not gonna stop I think. Wasnt he pawing all over rebecca & he was planning to kill her & himself. So b/c the cops had tunnel vision for todd they looked for nobody else. When he was cleared of alice & Debbie's rapes they did nothing b/c bo was either convinced todd did it or revenge. To be honest bo needed to be fired b/c at the start if his career as commissioner he went after immediately Dorian lord for an 18 year old murder that wasnt even a cold case as the coroner ruled his death being natural causes. Nora also should be disbarred. How long was her censure a few months ? Those are usually a year up to 5. I thought her conduct during dorians case was outrageous. She started drilling bo & right when she had him where any good lawyer would she let it go. Dorian said that & nora just told her to shut up. Hello dorian was literally fighting for her life as the death penalty was on the table. I guess thank god nora actually didnt think in her heart Dorian did it or I guess she would have thrown that case too. She made great points to bo about how their were 14 murders since victors death unsolved & 3 in the last few years yet he went right to an 18 year old death that wasnt even an unsolved case. It's clear as nora mentioned it was personal. His family hated Dorian & he personally had issues since Dorian was very opposed to his marriage to cassie ( remember that marriage ) nora also started drilling viki than went easy on her as well. It was such a conflict of interest that nora was the towns main defense attorney & bo the head of police her husband & or boyfriend. Nora should have taken cases just outside llainview jurisdiction. Yes she was really angry when Dorian got death & did work hard on her appeal. Also bo has a conflict where todd is concerned since todd tried to rape nora. A different cop should have led that investigation. I'd think nobody would want nora as a lawyer anyway knowing that at some point if she doubts u shell take a dive on u. What nora did to todd & the other 2 yes was morally right but as a lawyer ethically horrible. I know she tried to get off the case & fitzie wouldn't let her as it was close to over. Honestly todd zack & powells families or themselves should have sued the crap outta her. Bo never should have been the commissioner either. Esp when he has tons of family in town. I never got how he got that gig. Just b/c he was a green beret & war hero u can be a commissioner? Is that an elected job ? Lastly back to Marty I was very dissapointed during the rape trial & up to this point she never reflected on her actions the year b4 how she lied about andrew & billy & really wrecked their lives for months & months. Andrew got beaten up & death threats & billy was forced to come out to his parents before he was ready I'm sure.
I thought Blair was awesome here! One of the only people to actually listen to what Todd was saying, and try to get proof of his alibi. When she sat down with cord she was still upset about what was happening with Todd.... She was already half in love with him!
