Why isn't Todd Rundgren in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Not only is he a great musician, but he is one of the greatest producers in rock history and he has the body of work from Nazz to Utopia that should have put him in years ago.
We tried! Two years ago we managed to get the fan vote high enough to place him in the top 5...I think he may have been 3rd in the fan vote which apparently counts for nothing with the RRHOF idiots. They chose everyone in the top five fan vote BUT Todd. I think he’s ruffled some RRHOF feathers in the past because he genuinely couldn’t care less about it. Even one of the inductees that year said it was a crime Todd hadn’t been inducted years ago.
Kasim has said he believes Todd is one of the best, if not THE best lyricist around. I agree, though this is hardly one of his shining examples of that. From Healing, Lysistrata, Hawking, God Said, ... the list is endless...even Party Liquor!! I was at his 70th birthday bash, & it was FABULOUS!!!
If a cataclysm comes and I have to save only a few discs..."OPEN MY EYES" Nazz would be among them...!!! HYPNOTIC SOUNDS quite ahead for those years...!!! 💔❤☮
I agree. I love this song so much, too. It sounds like they rehearsed it once at sound check and went with it. Also, I never expect people to replicate guitar solos note for note, but the original was so cool and memorable, but he didn’t even capture the vibe.
Compare the length and breadth and outstanding quality of the career of Todd Rundgren, The Wizard, The True Star to the totally undeserving jokes that somehow already occupy the RnRHoF like Genesis, the Chili Peppers and Jann Wenner, to start with, and you’ll have your eyes opened to the fact that there truly is no comparison. TODD IS GOD!
