I absolutely love your teaching style. Taking the time to show what the stitches look like in different situations;( increasing, looseness in stitches) is so helpful. I learned knitting with my Mom, and oops, but there wasn't any instruction as to how each stitch should look . It makes it so much easier to pick up and put down, knowing where you ended. Thank you.
I just rewatched your tutorial, as I'm getting ready to cast on a new pair of socks. I originally learned and learned to love the Turkish cast on from watching this video. Once again, I appreciate the clarity of the video and the instructions, the pacing of your making the stitches, and the encouragement you give we viewers. One thing you do that I wish all tutorials contained is showing what the KFB and YO increases look like on the needles. Doing that gives a first lesson in teaching how to read your knitting. I'm off to get my yarn and needles! (harping)Janet.
Thank you for this! Super clear step by step instructions at just the right pace. You have a lovely, calming voice and the measured cadence you’re using is perfect for teaching something like this with lots of steps.
This is the first tutorial of yours I have watched. I'm a long time knitter who has made jillions of socks, almost all toe up, two at a time. Can't wait to try this cast on for the next pair! BTW, you are an excellent teacher (from one to another.)
Your tutorial makes trying the Turkish cast on so easy. Your instructions and explanations are so clear. Thank you. This tutorial gives me confidence to try knitting more toe up socks.
Hi Sis. Yes, I found the Turkish cast on to be easy. I discovered it a few years ago. Your instruction to me, was clear and slow enough to get the idea of the cast on. Thank you for sharing. Jesus loves you and yours.
I LOVE! this tutorial. I have watched all of the toe up/Turkish tutorials and this is by far the best. It is clearly described, easy to see, and most of all, stress free!!! When I watch this I relax, all the others just make me tense. I also love both of the increase methods you show, I have used much more complicated ones in the past, and look forward to doing something different and easier. I've ordered your Pebbles & Pathways sock pattern and it is the next thing to go onto my needles. Thank you so much for your professional and gentle instruction. : )
Thanks for sharing your sock knitting method. Your instructions are very clear and understandable♥also love your needles! and no annoying music, perfection!
First off, your voice is lovely and I always appreciate good enunciation. I have watched literally hundreds of knitting videos over the last year working on relearning how to knit and expand my abilities. This video is one of the best in video knitting technique as well as the best Turkish cast on explanation. 👍
Thank you I have been knitting sock DP needle for years. You have calming voice and ease explaining the cause and effect. I am going to purchase the pattern. I been working Turkish cast on 30 minutes. Now it makes sense no problems now.
This is a really great tutorial thank you! I watched a couple but yours is the clearest for me-good speed/pace, I can see everything and I understand thank you!
Thank you so much for this !!! I'm just learning to knit socks n you have answered all my questions...you have a way of explaining that anyone can understand exactly how to do it....thanks again 💜💜💜
*chef kiss* Possibly the clearest video on the Turkish (taught to me years ago as the toe flap start). Pointing out the back loop knit to avoid eyelets is something rarely passed along as well. 👍
Thank you so much First time watching your podcast. Your tutorial is awesome. I will be checking out all your podcast. My goal in 2023 is to learn toe up socks
Dear Brown Berry….you are a fabulous teacher! I’ve wanted to try a toe up pattern for a long time…but I was afraid! Now I’m excited to try it! Also never used the magic loop method…but I think I can now after watching your tutorial. Thank you so much….I’m now going directly to Raverly to purchase your toe up sock pattern….thank you again. Gayle in Minnesota
Thank you! This is the best tutorial I've watched on this cast on method so far! I really appreciate that you mentioned you need to hold on to your stitches when dropping the slip stitch. Other tutorials didn't mention this and I learned the hard way. Oh well!
Great tutorial - I especially like the yarn over method as it is very easy to see which round you are on. Sometimes I struggle with other increases especially when the yarn is dark.
I've just found you today and I'm only halfway through watching my 2nd vid of yours, but I'm so loving them!! I know I'll be binging your channel today!! I really hope you've done a video of how you knit/flick, you're such a great teacher and I love how calm and easy to follow your videos are. Thanks!
Hello, Jenn! I hope you enjoyed some of the past episodes!! I've recently put up some videos that show me knitting "close up" :) I hope you'll find them helpful!
Very nice and clear tutorial. Cat Bordhi has a hint she shares on her public video to use the tail yarn to make the increases and then you don’t have to weave in the end.
You are such a good teacher, especially for beginners - slow and clear. I look forward to watching and learning from more of your videos. This was the first one. I was wondering what needles you are using. Thank you.
Hello, I'm French, thanks a lot. Your explanations are so clear. I have understood all the process for toes. I am so happy. Now, I have to learn how make à heel of the foot....I really want make socks. Have a good Day, thanks
Thank you so much Marce! I was always wary about toe-up socks but have tried this as a practice and the toe looks beautiful! Great tutorial and so well explained. Many thanks again❤
Thank you for this professional tutorial, you are great. I want to give this a try, but i don't know how to do a heel in toe up. I always knit from the cuff down with heelflap and gusset. That's how learned it myself. 😘
I'm so glad you came by to check this out Marielouise. In my latest sock pattern, Walk Good Socks, I have a heel flap / gusset for the toe up sock, and the pattern walks you thought it. Since you're familiar with this method for top down, you may find it fairly easy to follow. The pattern is live on Ravelry and Etsy. Let me know if I can help!
I just did my first Turkish cast on. Thank you so much for this great video on how to do it. I am off to knit the first pair of socks from 52 weeks of socks :)
I’ve been futzing around most of the day with the Turkish cast on. I keep ending up with a ridge on the toe or Purl stitches on the outside. I’m going to try this method tomorrow. Thank you for explaining which needle does what.
Wow, thank you so much! I know feel confident to attempt my first pair of socks. Will be trying your Walk Good socks and I have just the yarn waiting to be knit.
Great tutorial. Am just getting into knitting socks so am intrigued by all the different ways of starting them. Have just bought Pebbles an£ Pathways so I can give this technique a go. Thanks!
This was so helpful, thank you! I’m getting 1 of your sock patterns today. Happy sock tober. I’ve been knitting a long time but I’ve only knit 2 pairs of socks.
Thanks for this interesting tutorial. I have used the Turkish cast on in socks and find it way easier than Judy's magic cast on. I have not used the YO increase on socks, so I'll have to try it soon.
