Thanks to Steve Walis for sending me here! Another unique Van lifer(s) with breathtaking filming. Keep it up guys! I’m a 61 yr old young female. Dying to vanlife and explore Vancouver Island SOON! From Portland, OR.
Thank you for beautiful video.Don't give people chapter choice in your video.Because jump on particular part leave other beautiful portion of the video to watch.Let them see whole video because your videos are beautiful.
Thank you ! Thankfully we haven't had any more encounters since this trip... but we still keep our ears peeled for any screeching around the vehicle at bedtime 😅
Tofino is one of our favourites too! There’s just something about the west coast of the island that keeps us coming back again and again. Absolutely loved the drone footage in this one 🙌🏻 Oh man I have PTSD from the mice too 😂 when I was tarp camping last year I woke up to a bunch of them all over me and my gear. That was the last time I tarp camped for a while haha😅
I cringed just thinking about waking up to a bunch of mice.... That is WAY worse than our encounter 😅 Thanks again for tuning in man, all the best. Cheers !
Hi. Just watched steve wallis cabin vid. Fan of his from day 1. Guess ill be watching yours now aswell and trying to catch up. ❤. Wud love to do what u lot do. Respect and love from london uk. Have a merry christmas and a happy new year
Love your videos! Inspiring me to start building my own little camping rig. Ive been a mechanic for a long time and I've always suggested to people to tuck a couple Bounce drier sheets in your engine bay, works pretty well! Happy trails 🤙
Thanks Michael ! Interesting! We appreciate the tip. Someone else mentioned peppermint spray mixed with water... We'll just keep everything on hand just in case 😅. Definitely get to building your own camper, it's awesome ! Cheers
A great van, a terrific dog and a beautiful lady by your side! Life just doesn't get any better than that!!!! Wonderful! Thanks for posting and sharing!
Hi from Vancouver. We have the exact same van and have also had mice (but know they can get into any vehicle). We have traveled for months at a time all over the US, BC and Alberta and never had intruders until we camped at the Squamish Riverside Forestry campground. Other people have had mice in their vehicles there too (according to google reviews). We think the mouse came in somewhere from under the dash because it appeared to leave that way. So many access points form the motor area. We have traps now.
Sure did! Just took forever. Had to send it off to the States to get all the footage recovered... Damn technology. Almost caught up on the 'old' footage... Wait till you see the van now 👀
you know back in the day you could just camp, totally free on the beach in Tofino! the tourism boom has destroyed this. there's "no overnight parking" signs in every direction. you need to book months ahead of time. it's just not my gig. but i'm glad you guys enjoyed your trip.
Yep, it's pretty insane to be honest. But Tofino is a special place and somewhere we need to see every now and again. We're super thankful there's a ton of wild camp/free spots all over the island ❤️ just not in Tofino 😅
Tofino is magical!..you must have camped at Bella Pacifica?..stunning if not expensive campground..but extremely limited there unfortunately. Beautiful video guys👍 FYI, mice getting into your van is inevitable..the windows are the least of your concerns..there are a thousand entry points on any vehicle..they can slip through a hole the size of a dime. Traps are the best defense, always have them set and check them daily..they can and will do stupid amounts of damage.
It's a busy spot but we always love visiting ! It was actually Mackenzie Beach Resort! Pretty cool spot. It was the cheapest spot to set up a tent a couple years ago when we visited (don't know about now). The mice situation was a bit traumatizing but hasn't happened since (this was filmed a couple months back)! So that's a good sign haha thanks for watching !
Here from Steve , but staying for the chill vibe! Makes me miss my days canoe camping and living by the biggest lake in Virginia. Maybe one day I'll get to be a wandering programmer :) keep making awesome content!
Here from seeing Steve's (Camping with Steve) shout out to you guys for the suggestion spot for his last video. Giving you guys a Subscribe and then I can start binging your videos! :)
Amazon sells live catch mouse traps that work really well. We’ve got an old farm house built in 1940 so we’re constantly dealing with mice. I catch them & carry them across the field to the woods. They don’t take up much space, you put peanut butter in back that slides out, set the front (it looks like a mouse tunnel) and when it catches one the door shuts. To get the mouse out you slide the back end that holds the bait out and let the mouse run out.
Thanks Diane! Can't wait to show everyone what the van looks like now ! 👀. We've been putting in some work over the last couple months. Hope you're doing well!
Just so you know, that old tackle can be not aloud anymore .No 3 prong hook in rivers in bc. I believe that was Snow Creek you were fishing in 🤷♂️ I like your videos. I'm new from Steve as well 😊
Hey Dave, I appreciate the insight! I am aware now as I have been trying to educate myself recently on the proper fishing etiquette/techniques of fishing in the area... if it's any consolation... I still haven't caught a fish lol. Thanks for commenting. Cheers
@wayoftheroads Very welcome. I know that spot well! Just need a single barbless on that spoon! Should work, the trout like fly or wedding band 😉 Glad I found your channel really enjoying it! Loved the trip out from Ontario up to Yukon Arctic and Van Isl.
Man the island is so beautiful. Love the drone footage. I can totally relate to the mouse thing. I had one right before I met you guys that traveled with me for like 4 days all across Idaho. Of course it only explored at night when all was quiet and Jamie was sleeping lmao. Glad you followed your heart and jumped!
Oh man... What a nightmare! Thankfully it didn't do any damage. We haven't had this issue since this trip, so let's hope it stays that way haha 🤞. Miss ya man, enjoy the international trips, looking forward to having ya back next year for your pilots training !
I put some Peppermint oil mixed with water in a spray bottle and spay under the hood of my van every few weeks. So far so good. Mice do not like the smell of Peppermint, but I do. Good luck! Nice video!
@@wayoftheroads ooo yeah that makes more sense. all of those popular spots are going to be full of mice because people don't practice leave no trace camping
@@RobboElRobbo 100% agreed, it's really sad seeing used toilet paper all over the place even in the more 'secluded' spots. Or the fire pits filled with trash because apparently they're considered a garbage can to some people 🙃
