pinned so everybody can see it just in case they don't look in the description!! Please remember to watch the episode during its official airing date as well to support the show!! yes i copy pasted this from old videos, just take it - THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IN SO LONG I POSTED ONE AND GOT ZERO CLAIMS ON IT, CAN I GET POGS IN CHAT- also as mentioned in the description, i feel awful because i had to cut the big conversation between them out of fear it'd get me claim sniped. ...and then i messed up my files so i can't edit it in cleanly (and also i don't think our luz fictive would appreciate me listening to that part again...) please support other creators posting that clip at least, in this house we love and support lumity and their communication i love them so much - amity
I’m surprised at how healthy their relationship is compared to Catradora. I mean, both Amity and Catra grew up in abusive households, and they’re both insecure due to the pressure their mother figures place on them and have the same general attitudes.
@@paolotorres8537 Thing is, we barely got to see catradora because they got together right before the show ended, with lumity the relationship is built on throughout the season, and we're able to connect with the story more Personally, I didn't think the former was all that interesting to begin with
@@paolotorres8537 how is catradora not healthy like we never even got to see them date they only confessed at the very end of the last episode. And from the start they be came enemies so obviously they didn't get long.( no hate just giving an opinion happy to hear other view points :) )
@@paolotorres8537 yeah probably be they grew up in the horde which was a very manipulative, twisted, and evil environment. And especially shadow weaver which literally tried to pin them against each other. But they definitely had some issues that came out later but I think by the end when they become cannon they aren't toxic any more.
the "Did you hate living with me that much?" now is so much more deep, i feel like Camila doesn't feel enough since she does not have her husband anymore
@@Bubbafanforever I think it was supposed to represent both that Camila and Luz usually get that specific kind of flower (hence the "you have to know what you need" when Luz summoned the flowers). Also, Luz summoned three (perhaps for mom, dad and luz, or for eda, king and luz) while Camila had just one (whether for dad or for luz is unclear.) It shows that Luz is thinking of her family as a unit while Camila may have let go of that idea for reasons unknown.
@@Bubbafanforever I have a feeling it's to show that despite Luz and Camila being apart they both still followed through on doing what they do together every year without each other while still thinking of each other. I'm unsure it goes any deeper than that aside from the fact that both flowers look to be lilies which is a flower commonly found at funerals
i was not at ALL prepared for all the angst in this episode. as soon as amity said she didn't want to go anywhere with her dad or with luz, i broke down. the scene at the grom tree hurt my heart even further. i spent literally the rest of the episode crying.
@@blightguts i was fucking HYPERVENTILATING. i felt sick, i was terrified that the people saying lumity would break up were right, i started crying. i was honestly happy to see the edric subplot, just because i needed a break to recover.
and then when luz and amity started talking at the tree, and luz was struggling for words a little, i immediately knew this was about her dad... holy shit the emotions
Best episode so far and not all because of Lumity. Finally Alador shows that he actually cares about Amity and try to do something about their relationship. Also Edric's angst part is really made me cry a little. A wish all of us someday have gf like Amity. God it's the best cartoon wlw relationship I've ever seen Its so healthy 😭
She still needs to leave that household ASAP, tho. Along with her siblings. Improving a horrible relationship a bit still makes it bad. And you don't forget what these types of people did. It will be a better distant relationship tho for the father. The mother is probably best ditched all together. Tho there is massive power imbalances right now, so she'll have to keep playing along. Tho, I'm pretending the casual murder attempt on Luz didn't happen by Amity's mother. Looks like the show is doing the same thing, like it's a plot hole. All of this wouldn't make sense otherwise. There is a range of things they could have done, but... nothing.
@@C0deH0wler I don't think the show is going to ignore it. If Alador just learned that Amity and Luz are dating, you can be sure that Odalia doesn't know yet. I think we'll see her try to break them up after Alador tells her about it and *that's* where that murder attempt will come up again.
I'm still so shocked at how healthy their relationship is. Another show with a straight relationship will have Amity be actually mad and not want to listen to Luz's reasons until she yelled them and THEN be like "oh shit maybe I should've tried to listen sooner". They're so patient and caring and loving and understanding with each other. I love that they're not perfect, and don't always know how to communicate, but that they try and they don't get mad and they forgive.
@@remitiras Ikr? It's why I can't watch straight shows anymore cuz 95% of couple interactions is toxic one way or another even if they adults! I think not necessary to talk about teenagers. And now we see Amity and Luz. They about 14-15 right? This two awesome girlfriend's who didn't ignore simple communication, that's exactly the way to health relationship! (sorry if my English bad sometimes) Lol why is text placement so weird
I really like the displays of affection and how both can talk/confide each other about what’s bothering them and try to help and cheer each other up when one of them is feeling sad or has a lot on their mind. Edit:(I did not expect so many likes on my comment Bonus: I know this is the second time Luz kept secrets from Amity and the third time Luz got Amity in trouble with an authority figure (her dad), but I do believe they both still want to make this relationship work on Luz’s side someone who has common interests and not think she’s an inconvenient weirdo/loser and on Amity’s someone who will listen to what she has to say or what she really wants to do and not to be so controlling plus giving her the right type of love and support, so I wouldn’t say Amity was exactly mad at Luz just frustrated because she does want to help Luz in her moment of stress, anxiety, or some other thing that has her feeling bad but can’t because she doesn’t know what’s happening. This most likely will be a character development for Luz not to keep secrets.)
@@meme-ih1wb Not to mention the fact that for the most part, LGBT relationships have been shown to be healthier (emotionally speaking) compared to some straight ones
My favorite Lumity moments in the episode: Luz calling Amity "Boo" Amity in her new outfit and Luz picks her up and spins her. The Grom tree scenes (I cried, and I usually don't cry at Owl House Episodes) I Love how Luz tries to keep secrets from Amity, but eventually she tells Amity anyway. This shows that Luz trusts Amity, which is essential to a stable relationship. I love them so much, and I hope that Lumity will be just as amazing when the show ends.
I do think they have a very healthy relationship, but Luz needs to be a little more open with her. I know she has her reason and it was very difficult for her, but when she hides her emotion she usually does reckless things that gets her and others in trouble. So far Amity has been the catalyst for Luz telling her what’s been going on. It’s completely fair why she feels this way, but she just needs to get better at communicating before she does something reckless.
@@aderpypotato9270 thats not her fault, she didnt have any friends and only her mom supported her, being open for anothers is difficult, specially when nobody takes you seriously
@@MisterPlague well yeah she didn’t, but still it’s clear she makes mistakes when she does that. I’m not blaming her like she deserves all of it and it’s completely her fault without excuse, I’m just saying she has to be a little more open sometimes, so she doesn’t get herself or others in trouble like this again.
The fact that the writers are treating these two like actual people is amazing. I love how their relationship is legit grounded in real human moments and even if there's a misunderstanding or a secret, they eventually realize that their s/o can help them and it's so beautiful. Also, side note the buildup to the first actual kiss is killing me. We know it's happening, BUT WHEN.
We’ve come really far with representation. Just a few years ago I was shocked and ecstatic that two girls on Nickelodeon said “I love you” during one of their final interactions of the series (Zarya and Kitty from Mysticons, if anyone’s wondering). Now we get a girl picking up her girlfriend and squealing “SO PRETTYYYY” and blowing her kisses and outright stating that they’re together. Truly a time to be alive.
This episode made me sob like a baby. I lost my dad about 8 months ago and having to pretend like your alright and everything is okay is awful. I feel even worse for luz because she didn’t get to know him super well because she was luz it’s been 4 hours and i still have that sad feeling in my chest. This episode hit so hard to home. (edit: spelling mistake)
I hope you feel better soon. I can't understand your pain about father but I'm here for you. I can understand that part where you pretend to be ok but you're not. That's what I do for last 2 years. Remember you're not alone. This whole fandom is our family 💪
I just realised that there are a few grom references! First, the little glyph fan thing luz did was also seen during the grom fright, and it’s the same tree that grew out of grom!
Small detail, but I really liked how Luz did the fanning of her paper glyphs just like she did during Grom Fright when she & Amity first danced together to destroy Grom. :) (@ 1:04 )
i like the parallel between Amity and Willow in this episode. At 1:17, Amity tries to do plant magic, but sucks at it, while she's good at abomination magic. Willow is the opposite, being good at plant magic and not very good in abomination magic
I love how in this episode, they explored how Luz and Amity's relationship isn’t perfect all the time, but they can still work through their problems together. They have rough patches where one or both of them are going through a hard time and can end up unintentionally lashing out at each other. But they end up talking through it together, and fixing what they've done. This, THIS, is a realistic, healthy relationship.
There is a very simple detail here to show that Luz is depressed: Her hair is undone. Usually her forehead is uncovered, however as the episode advances, his hair covers more and more of it.
the vase looking like the balloon they tied the flowers to and them being different colors of the same type of flower showing their seperated is such an intresting detail and i love it
This episode honestly broke my heart. I did NOT expect it to be the day her father died, and the way she talked about it before she revealed what it was... Girl, you're allowed to grieve. You're allowed to be sad and to miss the people you lost and to miss your home and your mom. I really wanted to give her a hug. And I'm so amazed how Amity insisted they do her tradition with picking flowers. I wish they could have made this episode a bit more serious but it's still Disney and they did an amazing job with it. also I relate to Edric on a different level. My man. He's precious.
@@torrinashley6076 how else? I think that as sad as it would be to see them apart it would steer away from the norm Disney relationship ending where "no matter what the relationship must stay even if it worsens the plot and steers away from the main plot and point of the show" cough cough star vs the forces of evil
Yeah nah. And nope to joining the realms too. That will lead to mass species extinction and crop failures. And famines. You don't want those invasive species.
@@riv4302 Sorry, but all things considered i fear that Luz is on a good (bad) way of sabotaging her relationship with Amity. This has already been the second time where Luz hesitation to speak about her own fears and problems did lead to a slight fracture between her and Amity. I can only guess that this pattern may continue. Luz is the kind of character that (maybe due her lack of close friends before the start of the series) smiles for her friends even if she struggles on the inside. Another thing that gives me cause for concern is the state of tree that Luz and Amity created during the Grom festival. Its leaves are falling as if it were Autumn.
This episode showed that these two are a legitimately amazing couple who look out for one another in a healthy way and are wholeheartedly willing to help one another with their issues. They’re much more than just two kids who were attracted to each other and decided to date. They’re a loving couple who have their partner’s back to the end.
luz is trying to stay strong for amity and fight through the pain but its amity question wether luz trusts her, they keep getting into small arguments for this reason but I think if they can learn to trust each other more they wont have this problem, I was not expecting the angst but these moments were wholesome
As a teen who just lost their dad two years ago, this episode really resonated with me on a whole new level. The way they portray grief in such a simple but poignant way hits me right in the heart. Luz and Amity are so lucky to have each other and I really hope Luz’s mom grows to understand that her daughter has so many people she cares about in the Boiling Isles.
Oh, I’m so in love with this episode. I just finished watching it because I like to watch it at the official air time, and I have to tell you I cried. I loved every second of it, from Eda calling luz her ‘child’ to luz getting all vulnerable around her awesome girlfriend. I also wanted more alador, so this episode was really nice to see. though i thought this episode changed alador’s personality a bit or atleast the personality I associated him with based off of what we’ve seen. Other than that, Eda getting all protective of luz because of escaping expulsions made my heart like burst OH and the fact that we learned more about Luz’s dad. Made me cry too. Sorry for the essay I just think this is my favorite episode so far in season 2b. My heart 😫🥺
I totally get the part of Eda going mama mode on Alador for hurting Luz. To be honest I thought Eda would put on a bit more rage when calling him out on it. But I think she's saving all that anger for Odalia since she was the one who masterminded the whole killing Luz ordeal.
I know this video was technically about lumity but I can’t help but feel the topic of luz dad. It wasn’t healthy to bottle them but it’s scary since her blood family members aren’t with her to comfort her. This really hit me deep
Everything about their moments in this episode is special, and you can tell that as the episode progresses, Luz grows more and more tired (give this poor girl a hug and a nap). Also, what broke me more is when her voice starts to break and when she could hardly stand. Amity definitely deserves an awesome girlfriend award, and I’m glad we get confirmation that she’s still straying away from both her parents decisions for her rather her making her own decisions (which is good, since I’m still indifferent to Alador and Odalia is just an annoyance, if nothing else). You know, give both Luz and Amity hugs; these two are the epitome of cartoon LGBTQ couples or cartoon couples in general, and I only wish Disney would wise up and let Dana expand upon their relationship and the show as a whole the way she intended.
It's funny how this all started started with a weird girl in a magical world and now it's about being yourself loving who you want to love making friends and accepting change not be afraid of who you are matter what type of family you're in some of these might be already before this but now it is obvious and I hope many of you inspired by it as I was to find out that there's more to all of us that meets the eye to all to even ourselves
This episode was extremely emotional for me. I dont know, hurt/comfort is my cup of tea as well, but all the build up till luz finally reveals what that reminder was, was really nicely done. Her explaining and how she started explaining, as well as amitys reaction was all so fricking *human*. Shows tend to have too exaggerated or kind of bland reactions to some pretty deep stuff and this show does it so well. Also stuff luz said might've resonated with me a bit too much and that brought me most to tears. The lines: "Okay, okay, I dont talk about this cause it happened, like a *long* time ago and its like totally not an issue anymore" and "And when you told me about the problem with your dad, i dont know... Maybe I was jealous or just needed a distraction" probably stung me the most.
Can you imagine if Luz and Amity fought in the final round because they were forced to by the managers of the brawl by using an aggression spell? Yeesh.
we got lumity angst. some people wanted an overly positive relationship, but they properly showed some angst. amity confronted luz in the nicest way possible without the typical third act yelling and stuff and this is very wholesome and good writing.
this is so cathartic, so many shows opt for the will they won't route and never develop a relationship, they usually wait till the very end of the series to start a relationship. Even the best animated shows are guilty of this trope, avatar the last airbender with aang and katara. Shows you don't expect to have blossoming relationship like amazing world gumball, gumball and penny have a relationship and its so beautiful or just adorable. Why is this kind of this so hard for shows to do? But to see these two develop a strong loving relationship, thefact they both girls is plus, it just gives me some hope you know
