The way he narrated that incident was so hilarious. I never really find these jokes funny but here I was laughing my arse off. Hope my right ear didn't miss on this piece of gold.
i do that a lot too though...the punch line isn't the only part of a joke that is funny...it is how it is presented, the subtle cheesy innuendos like "oh yes come into the bathroom with me waiter...doesn't that sound gay :P" (not that there is anything wrong with gay people BTW). and the way he said "poo" in such a British accent...legend
I love how MacAvoy checks his suit pockets as he inquires Graham for a tissue, like, "I must be a gentleman and ask for a tissue because I've quite forgotten the handkerchiefs I usually carry."
I might be the youngest man who carries a handkerchief on him at all times, but it's totally something that needs to come back into fashion. Especially at weddings. You will be very much appreciated if you hand a "dewy" bride a neatly folded handkerchief to dry her sweat.
The mere presence of JL and her reaction makes this story work so much better. Also the fact that she had just taken a couple of sips of liquid as Jack started his testimony made it even more effective. Trying to stop yourself from laughing publically, especially when you still have liquid in your mouth is one of the hardest things to do... eventually you can only let it all go. The waiter must have thought he was a critic...
If you watch a few of these interviews, you can see that many guests have a pre-agreed story, monologue, impression, song, dance or whatever to allow them to show off a bit and have their moment. Graham Norton will usually segue into it with a specific cue - in this case when he mentions language barriers. So this is indeed rehearsed.
@@iainjmclaren Nah it's not rehearsed the way you claim. The guests are given a list of questions they're ok with answering, host and staff use that list of approved questions to define the flow of the interviews. All the hard work is on the host steering everything once they go live. The guests mostly only knows which questions may come up, not which one or when and how but they are ready. And this is not a talent show lol, if they want someone to dance, they'll invite a dancer to dance.
This is the funniest story I have ever heard and I watch this every time I need a laugh 😂 I can never get through it without crying from laughing so hard 😂😂😂

Joe Dimasi - I don't think you quite grasp the concept there. She or someone pays make up artists to do their make up and if she ruins it then she ruins the efforts of highly skilled make up artists. Make up doesn't come cheap either... Mcavoy did the right thing nonetheless and urged Graham to pass over a tissue.
I was a bartender and server for many a year. Heard MANY stories in my time.....this is by far the FUNNIEST one I've EVER heard. Also......wishing I worked at the restaurant and was in the back of house when the waiter told THAT story to the rest of staff!!!!! Oh my GAWD!!!!! L....M.....F......A.....O!!!!!!!
I believe it just means you notice the successes more. Different mindsets don't change odds beyond our control but they can certainly change how we take in statistics.
I had to do almost the same thing in Istanbul many years ago. Small restaurant so I knew the next person would know I had left the crime scene. Weighed up the cringe factor of asking for assistance vs hate factor from fellow patrons. The waiter follows me into the toilet and it turns out the flush wasn't a button but a weird pull up thing on a string. I will never forget the look of bewildered contempt on that man's face. Sometimes experiences like that can be character building. On this occasion I felt like part of me died forever.

+Tropicocity I've seen the episode. At the start Jack mentions having met Jennifer before and that they're friends and have been in nights out together and they tell an anecdote about seeing Harrison Ford. Jack also calls her 'Jen' throughout the episode.
Sounded like an impressive shit so maybe the guy thought he was impressed and wanted to show someone before he flushed it away so someone would vouch for him when he told other people.
James is such a gentleman. It's so heartwarming to see him caring for his friend. He was actually looking for a hankie to give to Jen because she was laughing so hard. This was a funny experience, though, I assume, at the time, the man telling it was horrified by the events.
