A freestyle does not mean off the dome, thats what he meant in Treehouse. And alot of rappers don't. A freestyle, by definition per the emcees who were around at the roots of this shit(Kool Moe, KRS, Melle, T, etc.), is when an artist raps a verse over a beat they didnt write it to (as well as one they haven't heard before). Being as the entire video is one take with edits, i'd venture as to guess the song is one take as well, and since this beat is definitely custom made, if he didnt get it before he penned this or spit somethin he'd intended for another track/already had written, it classifies as a freestyle. VERY VERY FEW can actually 'freestyle' in the sense of just johnny on the spot making up bars and be THIS intricate with it. Like a handful, most of whom are battlers (who also write pretty much 100% of their non-rebuttal bars). Would just like to add this being a written freestyle (commonly referred as a freeverse although that also is technically incorrect) does not make it any less impressive. Clever track, perfect timing for the concept, the projections on point and the bars are heavy as always. Big year ahead, keep bangin. -Dyse
