Literally, 483 should be read as Vierhunderdreiundachzig (four hundred eighty-three) but since this number is quite long, people are often using it's shorter form, which is Vier-Acht-Drei (four-eight-three). "Zimmer 483" also appears in the song "Reden" and it would be impossible to sing it if they didn't use the shortcut. Plus, "Zimmer Vier-Acht-Drei" sounds catchier and is easier to remember (especially for people who don't speak German) than "Zimmer Vierhundertdreiundachzig".
