as a "manga reader 🤓👆" i say season one is pretty good and the rest aren't. season 2 diverges from the manga but then season 3 ignores all the changes and assumes you've read the manga while also skipping important moments that help you understand whats going on so you're basically lost the whole time. the ost is phenomenal and I'd say that's about it. if you like reading manga, i recommend this one. the fights get a bit confusing towards the end but its still a very very good manga series

As the bigger nerd here, season 1 doesn’t compare to the manga at all. Too much cut content and it’s paced like it’s a battle shonen instead of a seinen.

@@the_mse oh i 1,000 agree i don't like it either lol, but from my assessments compared to the other seasons it amazing LMAO,, still just fine compared to the manga but you can at least understand the plot and characters to an extent without needed to google everything

@@the_msetokyo ghoul in general is almost like a battle shonen, it literally has some of the best fights in manga so idk how what u said makes it any different

@@dantestryder because it’s not a battle shonen it’s a story driven series that includes action. It’s not centered on action like battle shonen like the anime wants it to be. There’s a very massive difference between something like jujutsu kaisen and demon slayer for example and Tokyo ghoul

Imo the anime was good, mind you it was one of the first I'd watched. When I watched :Re (s3,4) I inferred a good ammount of the cut content anyways, so i didnt really care. I confirmed with the manga reading it afterwards, and it reaffirmed a lot of things I had already assumed between s2 and s3 anyways. Manga obviously better than the anime and I pray for a reboot but in itself the anime is good despite being blatantly flawed narrative-wise

Dog they did the anime dirty and still I enjoyed it imagine how amazing it would be if they readid the anime and actually did it right even so I Still love it and especially the manga.

If you’re ever planning on watching the show, I highly recommend checking out the manga instead. It’s currently tied for my favorite manga ever and if the anime adapted the manga correctly it would have been my favorite anime too

btw for the endings i like ed 2 the most as it's lyrics are just too accurate for out mc and for openings op 1 is my fav for the same reason as the endings and how about checking out the tokyo ghoul ost's they are bangers .

I really like Tokyo ghoul anime,but many people do not😢.The OST from tokyo ghoul are awesome, usually created by Yutaka Yamada(like "On my own","remembering","Glassy Sky" etc.).All I can say: If you are going to watch it,you will have to watch till the end(in my opinion).And ye,I saw it and read on wiki things I didn't understand at the same time😂But it worth it!

Honest recommendation, read the manga first then watch the anime. It makes the anime way more enjoyable.

The manga is really good, sadly the anime doesn't compare at all unless we're talking about the OST, every season failed at being a good adaptation, whether it's the pacing or the changes to the story and downplaying entire characters and not giving them their great moments from the source material
