If you get the chance, try shopping for Saturn games outside of the Tokyo area, basically the further you get from Tokyo the better the prices. I would recommend Sapporo generally for second hand shopping at great prices!
it's crazy seeing good shmups just sitting on a shelf for good prices. Nice pickups and good vid, really enjoyed how you formatted things and so nice to not have to constantly pause and lookup gameplay videos + prices myself like I would usually do on a video like this.
Just found your channel today and I love your content! I like that you included a small clip of gameplay which helps a lot when it comes to game hunting. Some game hunting RU-vid pages I’ve seen don’t include that and it’s appreciated!
I regret that I didn't give the Saturn any attention back when it was current gen. I got a Japanese Saturn a few years ago and I love it. It's a powerhouse for 2D graphics. My elementary knowledge of japanese has me wanting to delv into some jrpgs for it. I want to pick up Lunar or Phantasy Star Collection
Same for me! Thankfully I got the Saturn back in 2012 or so, before prices really started to skyrocket. I don’t have too many rare games, but thankfully the Japanese library is still pretty affordable. I actually just picked up lunar for about $4 at a secondhand shop and I’m going to give it a shot! Would love to get my hands on phantasy star collection as well at some point, as I am a huge fan of that series.
The format of this video was fantastic. Great editing having game play of each game that you pulled up so we had an idea what they looked like what the Saturn games were like ect. This was a cool video. I know very little about the Saturn so it was cool to see some stuff.
The Grandia Digital Museum game looked really cool, I'm currently playing the Grandia Collection for the Switch si it catched my eye. The Shining games and Lunar are also amazing. Great video!!
7:00 Sunsoft's Hebereke characters are so cute and charming. Definitely pick that one up if you can. Ufouria (Hebereke) for NES/Famicom recently got a sequel on the switch.
18:13 *Saint Elmo. St Elmo is the patron saint of sailors and an electrical phenomena related to ships (which I believe the title is alluding to) is known as 'St Elmo's fire.'
@@pixxellie It's a platformer/metroidvania game and is very good (like a lot of the later NES Sunsoft games). It got a PAL released on the NES and it was my favourite game back in the day although they changed two of the characters to be a bit less kawaii.
I would love to see more videos like this. I recently started collecting for the Japanese Saturn and there's so few RU-vidrs doing videos about that. Subscribed.
As someone who's terrible at Puyo Puyo, but loves the characters, finding the Madou Monogatari games was a godsend. Plus, it's refreshing to play a more cutesy RPG now and then. And because my inner wrestling nerd demands that I share all my useless knowledge, the Saturn game wasn't the only time All Japan and Virtua Fighter had a crossover. AJPW actually rebranded a Canadian wrestler named Jim Steele as the "real life" Wolf Hawkfield. In fact, I believe either in this one or Giant Gram, the Dreamcast sequel to AJPW feat. Virtua, you can have the "real" Wolf and the Virtua Fighter Wolf fight each other!
Thanks for this extensive video! Next time, could you show some Saturns hardwares like lightguns, consoles and stuff like that? (if its possible, of course) Greetings from Brazil!
I actually showed Saturn hardware and lightguns in my other video of this store! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zviyHewtN9I.htmlsi=dIEdmtAuG9HPingp
I loved the Sega Saturn so much! This is a great video, thank you. One of my hopes if I can go to Japan is to get a Japanese Sega Saturn with a few retro Saturn games.
I had Alien Trilogy on the PS1. Well worth it, solid little FPS that pulls most of the settings from the three movies. Levels are 3d enemies are 2d sprites.
Tengoku game paradise is totally awesome. Beware with outrun on saturn 2s, it doesn't work. You need outrun p1k version which is really rare and impossible to see the version without a magnifying glass on the disk. You have a lovely voice. I went to suragaya last year and bought nothing. Will be hitting Tokyo early July for some serious game hunting. I would advise to keep things simpler to look at western friendly games only. All my saturn games are japanese and even I wouldn't buy heavy text games. Thanks for you channel it's very good. Especially clear pricing, pausing all that it's all good.
@@pixxellie it was made by ex Konami exployees who wanted more freedom to make product they wanted to make. Tengoku game paradise has zero slow down, uses all sorts of graphical tricks, game supports tate mode with fewer levels I think. Intro is very catchy. There is a big box version with a VHS tape. If you like it try Parodious. There is a game paradise 2 on ps1 but strays from the formula with average reviews. The best ps1 alternative is harmful park which is a 1000 dollar game.
Great video as always! Wish I had hit up Shinjuku surugaya when I was there last week.😢 Love this shopping style format video so all the time spent editing was well worth it. Definitely pick up super puzzle fighter as the game is nothing like Columns and a much deeper game mechanic system. I added a couple fighters to my own wishlist so thanks for adding to the money burning pit as always Pixxellie 😂 the Saturn import library always seems so vast and never-ending with cool looking games ❤
