Ask Kissling why they made a two sub-register super racing rather than a super moonwatch with their Spirate technology. I suspect it was to “prop up” the racing line (the laggard of the chronographs). This “we’re not just about the moon-watch” thing at Omega is like Patek and their “we’re not just about the Nautilus” or AP and their “we’re not just about the Royal Oak”. I have 9 chronographs (4 of them moonwatches), and the only 2 register chronograph with hours and minutes combined I can read without reading glasses is the deep black because it has different colored hands. I’ll bet you Kissling doesn’t use reading glasses. That’s my little rant.

Omega explained that this is just the start, and that once the production is up to speed, they will roll it out to other watches and collections, just like they did with the Co-Axial escapement and Master Chronometer certification. Our guess is that if they'd introduced it in the Moonwatch first, it would affect the production process quite a bit of their bread and butter piece. We believe it's better to wait until the production of the Spirate system/technology is up to speed, and then apply it to their best-selling (high production volume) models.

The gold moonwatch isn’t that high in production and celebratory moon watches aren’t either. By the way RJ had a nicer watch there than Greg; not because it’s gold or a celebratory Apollo 11, but because it’s a moon watch.
