You can't in front of mammals, or at least I can't, because I easily anthropomorphize mammals. Fish, reptiles, birds, is like w/e. Well birds can be more noisy, so in a realistic sense, if you have a pet bird, then that would probably kill the mood, but if there was a bird "watching" through a window, its like w/e.
