Meh not really its a fight. Plenty of last minute replacements have won with no camp then agreed to a rematch had a full camp and then lost lol. Toms fortunate he's peaking whilst JBJs injured and away, Stipes on the verge of retirement and like 40 and Francis bounced. HW div is pretty weak right now and Sergei was a paper tiger. Toms biggest threats would have been Francis and JBJ both of which he may never face. Stipe is more of a family man now and near retirement at like 40 yrs old. So he ain't the same Stipe of even 5-6 yrs ago. Maybe Gane gives Tom some problems but I'd imagine Tom would just look to grapple similar to JBJ. Gane and Francis about the only HWs that can't match Toms hand speed, DC could have but he's obviously retired lol.

This guy pulled off the impossible. All other Heavyweights were too scared to even enter the cage with Sergei. And this guy beat him...on less than 3 weeks notice. Legendary.
Impossible?. Iv been saying sergei was way overhyped by mma fans. Hes not that good. Has 0 striking defence. Horrible ground game. Hes just a big brute. Tom is good at everything. The fact people were saying sergei would steamroll tom was disrespectful. Tom always had the best chance to beat jones. Sergei would have got treated like gane by jon jones
Tom Aspinall has set the bar pretty high and I don't believe many people out there are able to match his standard in all aspects of the game. Much respect to the new champion.

He’s the champ… Jon has the belt and he’s fighting stipe because they have respect… then they’ll both be gone. If one sticks around, he’ll fight Tom… it probably won’t end well because stipe and Jones are at the end of their careers. The end, as in they’re only fighting each other.

Have never felt happier for a fighter than Tom. Saw him first with that DQ loss to Parobiec in BAMMA and, regardless of the loss, knew he was special. Different level than any other heavyweight... speed, agility, range management & versatility. Great work, mate.
As a Brit I find myself rooting for the Aussies and South Africans too. I’ve nothing against Americans (North and South), but I enjoy seeing fighters from all over the world establishing themselves in MMA history, which for the longest time has been dominated by the Americas. Just shows how massive MMA has become globally.
That was not his best shot. It was a jab or straight I don’t remember but almost buckled him. He absolutely beat the beast of Sergei. But that wasn’t his best shot by far.
Serguy didn’t hit him with his best but he did have him wobbly and could’ve won himself. I see them fighting many more times. Aspenalls was just rigged to win like most of them. That’s how it goes

He’s as humble and as classy as you will ever find any human, he can be one of the greatest champions the sport has seen both as an athlete and a person.
@@t.d6379 100% I think he’d smash ngannou with his grappling. Jones on the other hand I think would be a long fight but ultimately Tom would beat him, I don’t think jones has anything that would stop Aspinall.
@@t.d6379He matches well against Jones but no Ngannou. Francis has an iron chin and very strong so difficult to ragdoll, plus more power. Remember aspinall said he wanted to take his time when Francis was champ. But I think he beat Jones bcoz Jones has no power💯

Thought he'd be a 2dimensional Northerner with the personality of a doorknob but he turns out quite a gentleman, empathetic, articulate and sincere. I love that he holds his father up and shows credit to him. His father must feel such a great sense of self worth and appreciation and this is to few in a world which alienates men and treats them as disposable. Im now an Aspinal fan. John jones soon. Wasn't always a believer in Aspinall, got to admit that. But what an athlete. Especially after the knee injury. And now news of a back injury coming in to the fight. The guy a different class. I hope he gets to take that holiday with his family. They deserve it.
