I am not the biggest Tom Brady fan at all lol. But I can say I'm so glad that I grew up watching him and Peyton battle it out for so many years. Brady and Manning are 2 of the greatest QB's of all time.

At least Eli Manning held his own, an took control of both Superbowl wins against New England!! So no need to hate on Eli, he's a HOF QB if 1 is the best rating out of 100 to be a hall of fame QB Eli is a 99 but he will still make the HOF

Why compare them? Both are going to the hall of fame without a doubt and both will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time. I'm a pats fan but i have a ton of respect for manning and his accomplishments and I hope he wins it all this year.

I don't get people that love Peyton Manning and hate Tom Brady and vice versa. I'm a Tom Brady fan and I think Peyton is great too. Again... I think lots of Peyton fans feel the same way about Brady. You don't have to denigrate one to lift the other. They are both awesome.

What a classy guy. How are you all going to sit here and say brady had better weapons to play with then manning? Thats complete garbage. He has brought his team to 5 SB's, won 3 and is basically carrying his team to a 7-3 record this year. Give brady the recievers manning has and garuntee he will not only break records, but make the ignorant nfl fan base look stupid like he has for all these years.

What receivers manning has lol, demarious thomas and eric decker, who jumped from 80th and 100th place over all for receivers, to both being in the top ten when manning arrived, the only credible receiver manning has is welker, and where did he come from, julius is a rookie who wouldnt even come up in the topic of talented receivers without peyton throwing to him, the same colts team that nearly went undefeated in 09 went 2-14 when peyton got injured, well sir lol the weapons he had!!!
@moheganson
@moheganson 10 лет назад
james layton You're a complete fool. Manning had Marvin Harrison, Marshall Faulk, Reggie Wayne, Edgerrin James, Stokley, Dallas Clark, Austin Collie, Pierre Garcon, for years, played in a dome against the shitty AFC South (texans play inside, jags/ten nice weather for years, has played three more seasons than Brady. Had Tony Dungy (defensive genius), Dwight Freeney Robert Mathis Bob Sanders on D... And no, Rex Grossman is nowhere near the QBs Donovan McNabb, Kurt Warner and Jake Delhomme were... Not even close. Kurt warner was a 2x MVP.. Carolina almost beat NE in that SB and McNabb was a perennial pro bowler. Rex Grossman was about as bad as Mark Sanchez. Tom Brady won SB's with no name talent and no running game- David Givens, deion branch, troy brown, this year guys off the street (Kenbrell thompkins?? aaron dobson?? ) Gronk is it... and he's only had one HOFer his entire career- Randy moss for 2 seasons. Brady has done WAY more with less talent around him and Belichick is not this genius everyone has made him out to be. He was an average-shitty coach with cleveland, and became a "Great" coach when Tom Brady became his QB. He sucked as a head coach in NE with Bledsoe as his QB. Case Closed.
@lilmac309
@lilmac309 10 лет назад
Mike Hamilton big Lol, you did not just call austin collie a somebody and deion branch and troy brown nobodies, I wouldn't even bother debating football with someone like you haha, dallas clark, is he still alive, are you noticing a trend with manning's receivers, they all turn trash without him, manning makes his players HOFers, your going to tell me the 2011 2-14 colts were a team full of HOFers, you must be high or something, THEY WENT 2-14, the same team, exactly the same team that went to the sb at 16-2 with new orleans, they would have been 18-1, just like the 07 pats if caldwell didn't sit the starters in week 16 against the jets, take peyton out of the lineup, then you really know what he had to work with, all of these great players you listed were built by peyton, the numbers clearly show it, how do you think these receivers like thomas and decker magically make the transition from top 100 receivers to top ten when peyton shows up, do the math!!!
@jakeadams7183
@jakeadams7183 10 лет назад
james layton lmao that is funny. He made his receivers into HOfers, that is complete bullshit. Decker and thomas were good even when they had tim tebow. The fact is peyton is not a better qb then brady. Regular season is an argument BUT both regular season and playoffs tom brady is superior. Is reggie wayne, harrison, garcon, clark etc better than troy brown, branch, givens? Absolutely so they are, AND tom brady beat manning 10-4 in there meetings. Brady is the best ever. Period.

I'm a Cowboys fan, but both these guys are making history one game at a time. Peyton Manning breaking all-time records, and Brady and his team winning four Super Bowls (tying for most Superbowl wins) .. Y'all are too worried about who's better, when why not just enjoy both of them playing? Stop the comparison, I'm sure the two don't mind each other.

Maybe we should be a little more like the two guys themselves? They admire each other, whilst being fiercely competitive. They remain humble whilst wanting to win and beat each other. They behave with class, dignity and are respectful whilst being two of America's top sportsmen. There are so many stats, some subjective, others not, and anyone knows stats can be used to tell the story we want - MVP's v winning %, Superbowls v TD passes etc etc. Both outstanding players and people it seems to me.
@pegcage
@pegcage 10 лет назад
You are absolutely right, Adam. In private conversations I have often said, "I hate Brady," or "I can't stand Belichick." But I also say very often, and mean it, you have got to admire greatness, and Brady and Belichick are both great at what they do. And really they are nice people, people you would love to be able to sit and chat with. We throw around words like "hate" too much. But there are other words we should purge from our vocabulary, too --- all negative words and ugly words that can hurt or offend anyone listening.

While I am a huge Peyton Manning fan I do see a mutual respect that these 2 players have for each other. You never seen them tear the other one down. They hold each other in the highest regard and that is what really counts not who has the better stats or more rings. Tom Brady is not my favorite QB but I was rooting for them last night even though I am a Bronco fan. You can compare these two until the end of time and either way they are both 2 of the top QB's of my generation at least and definitely in the top QB's of the entire program. They both have strengths and weaknesses. They have good seasons and they have bad seasons. Brady was out with a knee injury and Manning was out with a neck/nerve injury. Both came back better and have definitely worked to get to where they are today. But lets not forget the other players on the team that also have a hand in team victories. Sure the quarterback has an extremely important job but they couldn't fulfill that job with out the other players on the team doing their own jobs. My personal opinion is that they are equal in a sense, one is better at one thing while the other is better at another.

***** The fact is Brady and Manning are friends. QBs in the NFL have a kind of fraternity. They talk to each other off season. I may be guilty of stereotyping but QBs have a certain type of personality. Laid back and and studious. Not prone to be flashy.

Why does there even have to be an argument about who is better? They are both great QB's. Any team would be lucky to have either one of them. Brady has been surrounded by better teams and coaching throughout his career. Manning has literally carried every team he has ever had. If you want to define how good a QB is on how many rings he has, then yeah I guess Brady wins, but again, football is a team sport, Brady didn't win 4 Super Bowls, his teams did. Manning is smarter but Brady has better instincts. Although I will say Brady's body seems like it will last another 5 years while Manning is pretty cooked.
@IamCarlo
@IamCarlo 8 лет назад
Are you Forreal ?? MANNING carrying whole teams it's the other way around look at Brady he takes no names out casts turns them in to pro bowler all pros stars on offense an still wins when it matters he clutch he comebacks no matter the score you look at manning he's the only dude to have 9 one an dones in the playoffs an having 1st round byes he's a great qb owns all the stats but when the chips are down an you need a come back he's a choker in big games he goes to Denver they give him every one he needed D.Thomas J.Thomas Eric decker Wes welker good o line an sanders but he get to the bowl an has the biggest Super Bowl collapse ever decker J.Thomas both balling out for they new teams too so it wasn't him whole made them good

@lilmac309
@lilmac309 8 лет назад
yea , i wouldn't put one over the other, especially not now, looking at how they both faired against seattle, i jus find brady usually gets the nod, but its mostly because of the rings, but to me they don't mean much cause like ya say, teams win rings. I think it's hands down a draw, i mean jus look at the rivalry, it seems they just go back and forth, every time brady has an epic season, manning follows, sure brady's got it done more, but so did eli, that don't make him better. Just look at the pats undefeates team, were they really any better than the colts the following year, caldwell pretty much gave away peytons undefeated season, if he left the starters where they were, you have a team with the same record 18-1, with a sb loss. Also the whole "manning had more to work with is not even arguable it's completely false, because how do ya justify virtually the same teams going 11-5 (pats), and 2-14 ( colts)... just minus the qb's...idk to me manning was much more crucial to hus team than tom was. That cassel team had the highest record out of any team that didn't make the playoffs, just cause the luck played the seeds out that way, ya can't call cassels season a blunder considering he makes it and possibly takes the division in any other year, but the 2-14 manningless colts...ahh yea, you can call that one a blunder, i mean jeeze they got murdered by the saints like 62-0 that year lol and imo cassel was no higher of a calibre than painter, theyre both pure garbage. I think it's fact that pats had the better team beyond the qb's, but idk , some still try to call that 2-14 team of pro bowlers that were mostly created by manning good lol and there are some who even come up with the non sense theory that they did it intentionally to get luck, because they knew peyton was going out bahaha, but i don't even entertain that crazy theory. I think it makes more sense that they were just garbage without manning, just seems to add up more lol...wish i could discuss thus great rivalry further...BUT ITS GAME TIME BABYY!!! WOOOO Lol
@npartin187

+james layton as has been known by everyone in the league, Colts were completely tanking to get the number 1 pick. They gave up 63 points in a game early in the season & analysts afterward said "ok they're not even trying". Pats were 18-1 so 7 fewer wins. Colts were 10-6, so 8 fewer wins. And then are you going to tell me a rookie QB came in & was better than the legend Manning?? Again, look deeper than outside appearances

In his 10 trips to the playoffs, actually, he's only had to play a Wildcard game 3 times, In 05, 06, and 09. That's pretty impressive. His playoff TD-Int ratio is 42-22, nearly 2-1. As for individual accomplishments, he's been Super Bowl MVP twice, league MVP twice, and is the only player to ever be unanimously voted for league MVP. He holds the record for most touchdown passes in a single season (50) And is the 23 time AFC offense player of the week (a league record) among other awards.

Me too, and I said the same thing after the 2009 AFC championship game. But people tend to be dazzled and amazed as Peyton rolls through another MVP regular season... only to come up very small in the penultimate moment of the biggest game of the year.The pick-6 in SB 44 was a perfect example of his choker DNA. Then we saw it again this year as he threw a pick-six, fumbled, and threw the Brett Favre-tribute INT in O.T. vs Baltimore. That was the 2nd time Peyton went 1-and-done with the #1 seed.

Spygate is the only excuse people make who cheer for shit teams in the NFL. There were several coaches who are retired that said they tried that every week. Like him or not Brady is a winner and is a very humble guy which people hate him for that. He is a nice guy who is great at what he does. P.S without a circus freak catch and a welker drop Brady would have 5 SB championships.
@joesakic91
@joesakic91 10 лет назад
Vitali97 I don't know about that Vitali97. SBXLII: Despite David Tyree's circus freak catch, the Patriots defense still had a chance to stop Eli Manning and the Giants offense. You forgot to mention Steve Smith's third-down catch on 3rd-and-11 on the NE 25 which sets up Eli to Plaxico Burress. SBXLVI: Even if Wes Welker made that catch, he would be tackled at the 20 and the Giants called their final timeout with 4:00 left to go. What would happen next? A possible turnover while trying to melt some clock and/or score more points a la Jerome Bettis' fumble against the Colts in the 2005 AFC Divisional Playoff which could've cost the Steelers. Also, Rob Gronkowski, banged up ankle and all, was still in the vicinity of the hail mary bomb. And both times, Tom Brady and the Patriots had the last possession in both Super Bowl's 42 and 46 to reply.
@SharkT00th18

#Vitali97 you are the man! lol if you look up the top 10 luckiest plays of all time guess who made number 1? the Denver and Patriots game showed that the Pats are better off without Welker before OT he dropped a pass that was a potetential first down play and would have gotten them into FG range he didnt get the nickname butterfingers for nothing

@SharkT00th18 10 лет назад
Should have won 5 lol but its okay the fact that Eli has been (Eli)minated from the playoffs for the second year in a row shows the truth about him 5 interceptions in 1 game come on give me a break what a joke lol
@joesakic91
@joesakic91 10 лет назад
***** Yeah, Eli Manning has his third NFL season of 20+ interceptions. But I also know that the Giants have 8 NFL Championships despite not having a dominating decade nor repeated as NFL Champions/Super Bowl winners. Not only that, Big Blue is the only team in NFL history that has at least one NFL Championship/Super Bowl title for four straight decades.
@joesakic91
@joesakic91 10 лет назад
CaptainAndMolly And I also know that the Patriots have a 3-4 record in their Super Bowl history including two losses to the G-Men that made history for the wrong reasons. SB 42: Third team in NFL history to go 18-1 in a single season, but the first to never win it all. SB 46: First team in NFL history to lose a Super Bowl to a team less than 10 wins.
@777zippy777

I'm aware of that, my point was Brady landing all the way at #21 after just 8 full seasons is incredible. None of the other QBs in their top 25 would've made it that far after their first 8 seasons.

Case in point about Manning. He has a 30-13 lead in the 4th qrt with 5:35 left and what does PM do...??? Run the clock out NOOOOOO.... He rares back and throws a 35 td pass to break bradys record. Once again he pads his stats and been doing so throughout his carreer. He will NOT retire until he owns ALL of Favre's records {save INTs} It's ALL about "Manning"...

There is a difference between choking and having a bad game. In both SB losses, Brady had a bad-to-mediocre game, being dominated by the Giants D-line all game long, and yet he lead them to a go-ahead TD before his defense choked.

The era of success is making deep playoff runs and winning their division almost every year. You're right it's a team sport, but Quarterbacks LEAD their teams, and, in the modern NFL, play the most important position. Brady has led his team to more wins. Manning might put up better numbers in the regular season, but Ray Lewis put it best when speaking about Brady (Paraphrasing a bit) "You think he has to make this incredible throw into cover 2, but instead he exploits the weaknesses."

When it comes down to it, who would you rather have on your team? When it comes down to winning, making players better around him, competitiveness, being clutch and can shoot the ball better than any quarterback. Not to mention went to the superbowls more times than anybody in the last ten years. Not taking anything away from peyton, amazing quarter back but he is also tied with brett favre for the MOST playoff losses in history. Tom can get it done in any circumstance. THE BEST ever.

Bottom line: In Indy, Peyton had 2 future HOF recievers. In Denver, he has a top 5 reciever and a top 5 tight end. He also had a former 1st round running back. Manning's number 3 reciever (Welker) is better than the Patriots number 1 (Edelman). We all saw what Tom did with Randy Moss, a reciever who the year previous had 500 yards with 3 tds. He multiplied Moss's td count by nearly 8 and added 900 yards to his total. We've seen what he's done with a healthy Gronk. Maybe Manning has more pure physical talent. But no one in pro sports can match Brady's fire, his desire to win. Brady always has that chip on his shoulder. He elevates his game when he's most needed. I don't think that the Patriots would have won the Super Bowl last year to an absolutely suffocating defense. But Tom would never buckle like Peyton did. When it matters, Tom shows up. When talent is around him, he makes them the best in the NFL (Moss, Gronk, Welker). The game last season against the Broncos when they came back showed what the difference between him and Manning. For whatever reason, be it the weather or the bright lights, Manning just didn't show up. And that will never happen to Tom.

His numbers were pretty damn good during the championship runs, and, like you said, he was throwing to nobodies, so that only strengthens his ability to get it done. It's beginning to get comical how far people who hate Brady are willing to go to discredit him. 2 NFL MVPS? 2 Super bowl MVPS? Most playoff wins by any QB? Sporting News' Athlete of the year? Highest winning percentage of any starting QB? The yardage,, the stellar TD/int ratio, completion percentage... Just accept it, he's great.

I've always been a Brady guy, I think he is everything you want in a QB. But it could go either way. What Manning does better than Brady, Brady is not very far behind & what Brady does better than Manning, Manning is not too far off. For those that say "look at the stats, Peyton better" Tom has thrown 27 more TDs & 41 fewer INTs than Manning since 2007, he's right there with him stat wise & in some cases better. "Well Peyton has the career passing records" Karl Malone has more points & rebounds than Michael Jordan, is he better? And Favre had most of the career records before Manning but no one was saying he was the best all-time. "Tom's played with great teams, that gets him his 4 rings" Great point but Manning has played with plenty of great players on both sides too. If your team is good enough to compete for the #1 seed as many times as Peyton's (& Tom's) have, you're not lacking super bowl talent.

+Npartin1 Two words, Dan Marino !!! Favre broke Marino's records by playing more years/games !!! Then these two break records with new QB rules. None of these QB's had the arm and accuracy that Marino had and if given a defense he would need more fingers for SB rings !!!!

I will quote Bart Starr... " How well do you play when you HAVE to WIN...? " Manning plays well when little is at stake, but not all that and a bag of chips when it's all on the line... PM is 9-11 in the playoffs... I''ll take Starr's 5 rings Bradshaw's 4 rings Montana's 4 rings or Brady's 3 rings over all of Mannings individual awards... He throws every play to pad his stats because he's out to break all of favre's records. I'd still take Favre... Put a pass rush on Manning and he folds like a deck of cards...

You don't think he throws more to make up for Denver's weaker running game? That's not a possibility? He's out there to win games and everybody knows that he has heart. Personally I believe there's a very little chance that he is out there for stats at this point.

@joesakic91
@joesakic91 10 лет назад
Mike Hamilton Yeah, the 2007 Patriots would've went 19-0 and also went 4-0 in championships in a single decade tying with the 1970s Steelers and 1980s 49ers, but also had an undefeated season to go along with it, but they came up short. Yeah, some Patriot fans will brag about going 18-1, but they also forgot there were two other teams before them that also went 18-1 in the 1984 49ers and 1985 Bears, but those two teams are considered to be two of the greatest single-season teams behind the 1972 Miami Dolphins because they won their Super Bowls to go along with their 18-1 record. And yeah, you can bring up David Tyree all day long, but you should also mention Steve Smith. He caught a critical third down pass two plays after Tyree's helmet grab to set up Eli to Plaxico Burress.

Rings are a team accomplishment. Individual records are an individual accomplishment. So no, manning is better. Also look at the colts record after manning got injured for a season, almost went 0-16, after almost going 16-0 with manning just the year before. Pats without Brady for a season... 11-5. Brady has Gronk ( can easily wind up being one of the best TE's ever) had hernandez, had Moss (second only to jerry rice all time) had welker (easily better then most first round receivers) So you want to try that dumb ass argument about the "more weapons" Manning had again? They both had their share of great players, made better by playing with them as QB's. Manning's better by far. That doesn't take anything away from Brady, he's still a great QB but Manning is in a league of his own. The only people on earth who think Brady is better are pats fans.
@IvIrJoe
@IvIrJoe 9 лет назад
Lmao Brady had Moss and welker in 07 thats all he had then he had hernandez, gronk and welker in 12 and went to the superbowl with one of the worst defenses the superbowl had ever seen. yet still if not for the welker drop they would've won... Peyton Manning has Reggie Wayne and Harrison for how many years and wins one bowl against a sorry ass bears team with Rex Grossman as the qb and they still almost lose? Lets not forget to mention them losing to the saints because of manning throwing a pick six. Also lets definitely not forget to mention the 44-8 ass raping that manning got last year.... Brady 11-5 against manning only has a losing record to one team in the NFL. Has the highest win percentage of any quarterback ever and has the most playoff wins. Brady ruined the broncos D yesterday and Manning got shit on AGAIN. Brady is better and don't try to tell me julian edelman, lafell, and gronk are better than both damarius and julius thomas, wes welker, and sanders. Manning can have all the records he wants he wont surpass being better than brady

Yep, and I kind of liked that list by NFL Network (came out just prior to the 2010 season). Manning made it to #8 after 12 full seasons. Pretty impressive. Brady made it to #21 after just his 8th full season. Very impressive. Out of the modern-era QBs in their top 25, Brady had played the fewest number of seasons BY FAR. It took Favre 18 seasons just to get to #20. And that was after 3 MVPs and a SB win. Manning after his first 8 seasons wouldn't have even sniffed the top 20.

I was with you until you said un-brady like are you serious? Tom Brady folded up against Eli two super bowls in a row. And another thing if Brady was going to do something this super bowl if he had been given a chance like so much people said he would have shown up. Then why did he not make it there? He was given a chance against the man who you are clowning right now. Drew brees has one of the greatest arms in nfl history and even he folded against seahawks. So give credit where credit is due. Seahawks just was the team to beat and lived up to expectations. Peyton Manning last two superbowls he went against two teams that has never even won a superbowl saints and seahawks which is why they had more heart and came out victorious. Seahawks was just more hungry Peyton is still one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. Oh and Brady hasn't won since like 2005. So when Brady actually wins then maybe your argument can be relevant.

Again I gotta correct all someone's total wrong points about the Bradster, one by one my goodness it's getting tiring! So thanx for doing some of the leg work but it looks like I gotta go talk to Jesus and correct the rest of them, anyway! :)

Revealing Jesus Yes, I'm very serious! Like my friend Brophy said and unlike the complete untruth of your statement regarding Brady's performance against the Giants, he left each game with roughly 4 minutes on one and roughly 7 minutes in the other BOTH with the lead and the D gave up the winning TD's to the NY Turds one on a butt munch play that had the worlds luckiest title awarded to it in Eli's evasion from a sack and the "rub it in loser" Tyree Velcro catch. And the other to a pretty good throw by (what have you done for me lately) Eli and an incredible catch by Maningham tip toeing on the sidelines and if you remember, Welker dropping a relatively easy catch from Brady that would've most certainly sealed the win for the Pats in the 2nd SB. Now, did you see any kind of Peyton Manning barfing or blowing of chunks all over his shoes from Brady in either of those SB losses? Did you see any dry heaving on the sidelines in a paper bag like Manning in this last SB? Did you see a pitiful performance from a supposed great QB with 2 interceptions one for a pick-6? NO, you didn't! So please take that analogy back and never bring that farce up again. Why didn't Brady make it there? Again, not because he puked all over the field like manning did but because he barely has a team around him. His best receiver is a 5-8 on a good day and no-one else. The running game was nowhere to be found. The defense is depleted, yet they did come back and beat the crap out of those same Denver Broncos a month before that after being down 23-0! So yes, he does lose every once in a while he is human but at least he SHOWS UP!!! That's the point! Best of all, is you just summed up the entire debate in Brady's favor by saying this - "Peyton Manning last two superbowls he went against two teams that has never even won a superbowl saints and seahawks which is why they had more heart and came out victorious." They had more heart! Is that the problem with Manning and why he chokes almost every time he plays a big game? Because he doesn't have enough heart to compete?! Well, there you go. You could never put him in the same room as the great Tom Brady!

***** Smitty, you da man! Thanks for that killer post and you laid it down pretty awesomely! Look at those TD-INT in the SB stats alone between the two and we're still having this debate?!?! This is why I make it a point to educate people (just like you did here so well, dang), because that stupid ass debate should never be a debate in the first place!!!!! And BTW, that first play with the botched snap and safety was completely Manningua's fault because the entire line moved and not just the center. Had the center moved only, then there might've been some miscommunication on his part and it wouldn't have been Barf Boy's fault. But because the entire line jumped with the snap, then it had everything to do with Manning blowing the play.....again!

GoMiGman Manning might not be the best after the regular season but I LOVE seeing Brady's face after he loses a SB. I hope I get to see it for the rest of his career!

The flip side to that is that, in every one of Brady's recent postseason losses, he's run up against a team with a very solid, physical defense that gets to him, gets him off his spot and forces him to make a lot of bad throws and bad decisions. Remember that 4th down play in the 2nd half vs the Ravens in the 2013 AFCC? Brady was starting to scramble downfield, and Ngata was closing in. Brady could've run it, but instead he just threw a duck into the end zone and nobody was even close to it.

That's the 2003 AFC Championship, and it relates to SB25, in which the Giants defense beat up the Bills' wide receivers and slowing down their "K-Gun" no-huddle offense. Polian was the Bills' GM during the first three SB trips (and was fired after SB27), while Belichick was the Giants' DC during that game.

True that. That comment pretty much sums up Peyton's entire 2006 postseason super bowl run. I was also happy when he won his 2nd super bowl. Oh wait....

and whether you like it or not, peyton's team started 0-13 and went 2-14 without him which shatters the notion that he had this great help around him. a team should never go from being a double digit win team to a near 0-16 team without a singular player.

Yes, Montana drove his team into the end zone for the win, Brady drove his team just barely into FG range for the win, and Manning threw a pick-six for the loss. Pretty much sums it all up. Yes, Manning has been the same since his days at Tennessee: You can always count on him to follow up a season's worth of gaudy passing stats with a horrendous choke in the biggest game of the year. Brady had the championship era 2001-04, then he had the monster stats/MVP/best Manning impersonation era.

Montana was the comeback king at Notre Dame before he was even handed the starting job. Then he won a national title in his first year as starter. In his final game, he led ND back from a 34-12 deficit with 7:00 left to win 35-34... with the flu. He gets drafted by 2-14 SF. They don't start him and they finish 2-14 again. They don't start him in 1980 and they go 6-10. Finally he gets the start in '81 and what happens? They win the SB.

I do give him the respect he deserves. It's just not as much as people that think the Patriots rise and fall with his game play think he deserves. I've always said he's a consistent, accurate short pass pocket passer. But he can't improvise and gets rattled under pressure. His first play from scrimmage in his last Super Bowl was an intentional grounding safety in the end zone.

That's exactly what I'm trying to say. Don't forget some guy named Kurt Warner. I've found an interesting quote from former Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore, on why Peyton takes all the practice snaps, instead of the backups: "Fellas, if #18 goes down, we're fucked, and we don't practice fucked." I think that it was spoken prior to the 2011 season.

If they were closer in that statistic of win percentage, you could argue that Manning wins the game-winning drive stat. Brady simply doesn't need to compile a game-winning drive as much, but if he has to, he can.

2008 Pats played a weak AFC West and NFC West, had the easiest schedule, and went 3-5 vs. teams w/ 8+ wins, and 2-4 vs. teams that made the playoffs that year. Cassel also took the 2010 Chiefs to the playoffs that year, clinching the AFC West title in the process. 2011 Colts, OTOH, played a tough AFC North and NFC South, and panicked when Peyton had to go under the knife.
@777zippy777

The best response to the "Cassel 11-5" argument is this: Johnny Unitas missed the entire 1968 season with injury. Not only did his no-name backup lead the Colts to 13-1 and the super bowl, he also WON NFL MVP that season. And then of course, you have Steve Young doing what he did after replacing Montana. So I guess Unitas and Montana were just "system QBs" and "products of their teams"..right, Manning fans? Well, they're widely regarded as the two greatest QBs of all-time. Sounds about right.

My point is that receivers picking up 12-15 TDs in a season with Peyton Manning as quarterback does not require an exceptional physical specimen. It doesn't matter who Manning's receivers are, they tend to put up similar numbers. You don't see a 4:1 TD advantage between them the way you did in 2007 with the Patriots.
@IamTheSherm
@IamTheSherm 11 лет назад
I'd want him because he's the best quarterback to ever play. I watch him play and there's nobody else I'd rather have on the field if the game is on the line. He doesn't make dumb mistakes like getting flagged for intentional grounding in the end zone.
