Tom Cruise Sends Cakes To Graham Norton, Renée Zellweger & Louis Theroux’s Grandmother 

My mom gets the "tom cruise cake" every year also. My dad (who was a police officer) helped with security for Tom Cruise during one of his films in Louisiana. My dad became great friends with him. When my dad was killed in the Line of Duty 6 years ago...Tom Cruise set my mother flowers and a hand written letter with condolence. He's such a great guy.

It's from a small family business in Los Angeles. The owner's son said that Tom orders like 100 cakes every year and some more during the year and they cost like 100 dollars and that his orders have kept them in business especially during this pandemic.

Corden mentioned that the morning of the day he was to emcee the Tony Awards, there was a knock on his hotel room door, and he took delivery of an incredibly terrific cake from Tom Cruise.

The cousin of whom Louis speaks is Justin Theroux. Justin Theroux was one of the producers of Tropic Thunder, in which Tom played Les Grossman, to critical acclaim. I wonder though what would have happened if Louis was on the couch with Tom Cruise considering he made a not so flattering documentary of Scientology and even cast someone as Tom Cruise to do the re-enactments. He also said that he was more afraid of legal action by Tom Cruise than by the Scientology people

I bet that the Fruit Cake Lady is Toms inspiration. Because, one he met her, and two she made cakes for everyone. She was Truman Capote’s Aunt and her cake making prowess is described in Capote’s delightful “A Christmas Story”. In the story she and then six year old Capote save pennies all year for ingredients, make dozens and dozens of fruit cakes and give them all away as Christmas presents. Her cake list included family, a friendly bus driver who waved at them, the President of the United States, etc.etc.
