Only kind of. You can tell from this interview that he, himself, doesn't normally speak in a Posh accent like Lucifer. He slips into a bit of regional accent now and again.

That is not camp. It is called Received Pronunciation which is the way the King speaks and is the language of diplomacy and educated people.

It is true that people with British accents seem to be particularly articulate, not to make any generalizations. I think that’s a key part of Lucifer’s character - his strong diction gives the sense of someone who is rich and accustomed to power and respect. It’s not subtle, and neither is he.

He manages to balance the darkness of the character with the softer spoken, camp, cheeky, and playful parts of him. He’s a diva without being brash and abrasive. A flawed and often not easy to get along with character, but he’s got a mischievous innocence that makes the character earnest and grounded enough to be invested in seeing him grow from his mistakes.

yes, they had filmed all 15 episodes by the end of 2019 and more than half of the 16th final episode... they still had some small but important scenes to film for the ending that got cut by the coronavirus unfortunately

hearing Michaels American accent really troubled me and made me realize that the accent Lucifer has is very soft and nice sounding. he sounds generally pleased and just nice. Michael is like turns my brain inside out and I honestly hate it.which is so weird because I haven't ever liked a British accent before but it really works for Lucifer it's perfect

For myself I didn't think that Lucifer sounded rough enough. It made me giggle alot when watching the show. How could the devil sound so polite? But his voice adds to the complexity of the character as it developes. Also he looks so creepy and scary in some seens, so that roughness comes through in a different way.

Had Lucifer spoken with an american accent it would not have gone further than the first series. I'm certain of it. By using the Received Pronunciation and his beautiful voice and great acting made the show. I can't imagine anyone else being Lucifer
