I have all versions and I need every single one , at least that's what I'm telling myself 🤣 This does actually happen to be my favourite from the line 💚🍀
The Parfum version is my favorite of the two. The average person will never tell the difference. It does seem smoother all the way thru its lifespan . . . Great review . . . right on ! Thanks for sharing . . .
You are so right about being a “dark fragrance “ I love it, especially in the winter time. For some reason when I put it on, I think of dark castles, candlelight and medieval romantic times
The parfum version wears thicker and more dense.it's heavier on wood, patchouli and sweetness, but i love the original edp cause it emphasise the floral aspect more.
Fun fact- plum distilled spirit ("szilva pálinka") is Hungary's national drink. It's made of 100% ripe plums, nothing else added. It's a distilled drink so high alcohol content, 43% minimum. That drink has a beautiful plum scent which I'm used to. I wonder if that means that plum does have a scent that can be naturally extracted? Because I can assure you, perfume definitely isn't added to our sacred national drink! 😃 It just smells plum-my because it's made of plums. No sugar, no colour, nothing added. (Looks like vodka e.g. like water & "tastes" similar too -meaning it burns obviously lol!-, but with plum touch obviously). We also make it out of apricots (barack pálinka) and recently other more hipster fruits too. :) Ifanyone decides to try and buy some- please be careful & check the ingredients, lots of fakes out there. No, pálinka is not a "liqueur" nor is it brandy, schnapps etc.. these are not the same. There should be no added sugar, it shouldn't taste sweet at all and it can't have colour or viscosity. It should look like clear water (like vodka). Not a girly drink, sorry!
We have someting similar in Portugal, made of grapes usually. Its called Bagaço. Same process, same killer drink. We joke its the one drink that will grow hair in your chest. Yours sounds like it has a beautiful smell.
@@BretzelMedusa oh that's cool! I wasn't familiar with Bagaço, but it sounds delightful! :) Since my country (Hungary) is closer to Italy, we drink their version, called Grappa (also made of grapes). Do you know if there is a big taste difference between Grappa and Bagaço? I wonder 🤔
@@MsPomeranianlover I never tasted Grapa, sorry, I have no clue about that. I read that Grappa is a tad bit sweet, Bagaço is not sweet, never. We have lots of destilled drinks in that Grappa line, called Aguardente (Translation: Water that burns ;) ), some are fruits based, not quite liquor but almost, others more like brandy, Aguardente is a more refined product. Bagaço (Translation something like Subproduct, leftovers from original product) is more on the unrefined end of the spectrum. It is very potent and rough, we also joke when we are ill: Have a Bagaço and you´ll be fine in no time
Maybe they reformulated since your review, but I find the EDP to be a lot more dry from start to finish. The Parfum is a bit sweeter - especially on the dry down (though the opening note smells terrible on my skin- get around that by spraying it inside my clothes so it transfers ).
I really like watching your videos. We often perceive fragrances in a similar way. I love plum in my perfumes, but you are actually right, it's more like a plummy feel rather than the smell of the actual fruit. I have found my Holy Grail plum scent, tho - It's Ambre Khanjar by Une Nuit Nomade, spectacular.
Because of the video thumbnail (and your sense of humor) I was super hopeful you might just say “no” and posted the 2 second video...😂😂 Thanks for sharing love
Fantastic comparison!!! I just added this one to my collection after testing it several times, but never got the booziness. I do prefer this one to the EDP. A question for your next monthly Q&A video, would you be willing to share some of your favorite ylang-ylang fragrances? Thanks!
Hi, I am Kei! I like this Tom Ford fragrance too! Btw, I’m doing some market research on the influencer industry, would you mind if I ask you a couple of questions?
I have tried the sample on my skin and found it very artistic. It gives me a very vivid image of orchids blooming at night in South Asia. First masculine, Last feminine. It's kind of strange to say that early morning is the best time for me to wear this fragrance rather than night even though it's named as black, but it makes me feel as if I were walking through the orchid field at dawn. About orchid fragrance, I also like Contradiction by K.C. Thank you so much!
I completely agree, to me, I like the new version (parfum) better than the edp! Much rounder and more sophisticated. But I won`t buy both, I would have to get rid of my older edp in order to buy the parfum.
Owning both the EDT and the Parfum versions of this incredible frag I can tell you that the EDT is a bit “louder” and slightly darker while the Parfum is more civilized and I guess a touch more “user friendly”. But, they both are masterpieces.
Black Orchid, like Black Opium, took off like wild-fire in the US. For that reason alone I have avoided it. Any town where there is a Sephora it seems it’s impossible NOT to smell Black Orchid and it’s reformulation. It’s become like the top 10 pop songs that you hear over and over again until you are sick of it.
I love the edp. Plum and rum, 🤔, I sort of smell that in the edp as well, like the dark fruit touch. You’re right about how a plum note is not like the raw fruit plum. Good explanation. I’d like to test the parfum out now to compare.
