Designer Tom Ford says he refused to dress incoming first lady Melania Trump years ago because she's "not necessarily my image." Watch his explanation.
Actually he repeatedly addressed this matter: a public servant shouldn’t wear his designer pieces because they’re just too expensive. Not once. Honestly, I think he’s right. It’s inappropriate for public servants to wear such expensive stuff while there’re still people live in poverty in your country. If they want to wear expensive pieces, please skip the role of being a public servant.
In many interviews Tom Ford espouses great philosophy all the whole his actions promote the complete opposite; he says he hates materialism and consumerism, yet his line is absurdly over-priced and gauche, he says public servants shouldn’t wear his pieces in the same breath he says he dressed Michelle Obama (& has European royalty, just not the British-because they won’t wear American anyhow), he implies public servants shouldn’t be the 1% yet Hillary and Bill’s foundation is the epitome of cronyism which made them millionaires-it wasn’t their $200K/ yr Senator/ Presidential salaries.
There’s another clip of him getting asked if he would dress the Obamas and he said the same thing. His clothes are too expensive are meant to convey the ultimate level of luxury and when you’re the president of the United States there’s a certain sensibility and humility that should be demonstrated to be taken seriously as a leader. Flexing in Tom Ford is not one of those of those things.
He designed a dress for Michelle Obama in 2011 so he’s either a hypocrite or a clown. If he doesn’t want to have anything to do with Trump and his wife that’s okay, but at least be honest. Saying that his clothes are too expensive is the shittiest excuse I’ve ever heard.
@@georgerivera3148 Do you know that I couldn’t care less? Do you also know that if he wasn’t a hypocrite, he wouldn’t design it at all and would tell her to get a dress from another designer? Apparently not.
As a conservative, I like how he answered the question. He's stayed consistent with his responses for years. He wouldn't dress Obama for the same reasons.
@Youtoob celery jason genova and he also gave a reason for it. He believes that presidents should be releatable. Means when the were these things daily it does not represent that average americans opportunities. But if you meet up with the queen, the relatability aspect isn't necessary+ there is a certain ettiquete required of you
He dressed Michelle Obama. He said it was an honor to dress Mrs Obama. Did you not watch this video? Melania Trump and her husband are not worthy and don’t uphold the same class.
So, do you say the same thing when a artist doesn't want to paint a cake for a gay wedding??? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qkwp7BbueqY.html
@@dy1670 Thats your assumptions that i didn't 🤦♀️❗ if they were civilians it would be different yet expensive clothing 4someone in office isnt rt! But they Keyword: Is he said Melania isnt his brand image❗
I read an article where Tom Ford talks about this again. Here's the quote: *"I was on ‘The View’ years ago and I was asked would I dress Melania Trump?* *And I declined.* *But I have never said anything insulting about Melania Trump.* *What I said was that I would never dress Melania Trump.* *But that's ALL I said.* *I did not insult Melania Trump.* *I have never, and I would never, ever insult a First Lady."*

I think he’s always known what he’s doing and what his aesthetic is.....and I think he’s very selective for a reason; it’s what makes him so chic...you can’t have him....even if you can afford him🤫

He said she shouldn't wear his clothes because she should wear clothes that reflect the people and she shouldn't always over dress, not expensive in a arrogant way

It's all hyperthetical since she hasn't asked him but he was a asked "Would he "and as in previous interviews has stated that his clothing is not cheap. ..he is not a folly in fact rather the opposite when it comes to common sense.
Do you say the same about integrity of an artist who doesn't want to paint a cake for a gay wedding??? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qkwp7BbueqY.html
@@charleslaird706 I agree with you in principle, but when it comes to hypocrisy a "cake artist" protesting against gay people is about as convincing as a florist buying a lady a drink at a bar.
@@charleslaird706 In seriousness, though, that whole Masterpiece Cake Shop case was completely engineered by the fundamentalists. I don't think "gay marriage" is a meaningful category and that it does degrade the whole meaning of the institution to separate it from procreation and traditional meaning, but I'd rather live in a world where every cake and every marriage is as gay as Tom Ford than one where those fundies have the power they're after.
Diane very classy comment.lets be above such trivia on any woman regardless of status about how they want to dress themselves.when she feels beautiful in how she looks in the attire she chooses that is what matters.
A designer has the right to refuse service or product to anyone for whatever reason. He's not discriminating based on age, gender, race, religion, etc. Melania has others from whom she can choose. I preferred MO's style over MT's.
This guy is on point. I think he’s consistent. He’s a brilliant designer and business man. I would like to understand more why he doesn’t think Melania is not his image. It’s totally understandable why someone wouldn’t like Trump as president. I have no issue with that. One thing I will never understand how anyone could like Hillary Clinton. It makes no sense to me.
As a poor social worker Ive bee thinking on gifting me a pair of TOM FORD sun glasses for the longest time, but I have to admit that the prices of these products have stopped me.. after knowing what it’s in TF mind I’m have made my decision!!!! I’m getting them ! Just the for the fact that Tom F. does has a soul !! 😘
Melania Trump is not losing one minute of sleep over Tom Ford. Why wear Tom Ford when you can wear Yves Saint Laurent, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior or Givenchy. Melania is an European woman so it would be more natural for her to wear European designers. She doesn't need Tom Ford for a damn thing.
TOM FORD : YOU CAN BE REGRET ABOUT YOUR COMMENT ! BEACAUSE SHE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFULL , STYLISH, AND ELEGANT WOMAN IN THE WORLD !!! YOU MAKE YOUR OWN DEVESTATION TO YOURSELF ! ASHAME ON YOU @!
Ford didn't say he would dress Melania because she was Donald Trump's wife. He declined to dress her before she ever set foot in the White House. What is the big deal???
He only dressed Michelle and that was for when they went to have dinner with the queen at Buckingham Palace. Huge difference then just dressing them for some event.
Far more often than not, Tom Ford comes across as highly intelligent and articulate to me. This certainly didnt sound like his brightest moment. 1. Melania is not my image (Well Melania is an insanly rich middle aged women, who looks after her figure, has a background in modelling/fashion and decades of history of dressing rather tastefully in designer clothes...so one must wonder if that is not ticking all the boxes of a generalized image of a Tom Ford customer) 2. First Ladies should not wear expensive clothes (I kinda get the point there but for the record, Melania was outragously more rich than Michelle before either of them ever touched any public funds) 3. Im a democrate ( the least democtratic thing to do, is to sabbotage ,even if at a pretty insignificant level, a democratically elected presidents and/or first lady, for the simple fact that they are not from the party you have supported)
Let's applaud this guy who refuses to offer his clothes to The first Lady but lets condemn the Christian couple who refuse to make a cake for a Lesbian couple's wedding...🤔🤔
Why does he think she would want her to dress him, Michelle was dressed awful most the time, this guy dressed her and Hillary. I don’t think our new First Lady is missing anything
I wish Tom would've said he doesn't support Melania and the Trump administration, and left it at that. Does he truly care about the image that people in public office present? We already know Melania can afford anything she wants because her husband is a billionaire, and shes's already disconnected from the public, so what difference does it make if she wears less expensive clothing? Ridiculous, Tom. Just as long as regular wealthy citizens continue to spend too much money clothing and perfuming themselves with your brand, you don't need Melania's money.
