@@ryane6545 not my first language but nice argument. Attacking my spelling instead of addressing my point. You're surely a role model. And now you won't reply because I exposed your bullshit.
@@Gurra88 more like because of a lack of intelligence "oh he acts this way because he is from such and such" Completely racist, and they don't even realise this, like for them if someone acts a certain way, that is the way his entire country acts. lmao such simple minds xD
Some people may forget... this was back in 2000... He came on Lenno as a tree, ate a mouse and freaked out judge judy. The goal was to promote road trip by delivering his brand.. which he couldn’t have done better in the 5 minutes he had, IMO. Road trip brought in 119 million worldwide from an investment of only 16. The movie wasn’t even that great with critics but with appearances like this he left people curious. Now it might seem tacky or over blown but again back in 2000 many people had never seen this kind of thing on a talk show, and it worked pretty damn well.
He was ahead of his time and I credit him for opening the doors for people like Eric Andre, Jackass, Tim and Eric, and the like. Back then, I don't think Tom Green's brand of ultra-absurdist comedy had really been in the mainstream yet until he made the scene. Monty Python could be considered as pioneering absurdist type comedy into the mainstream, at least as a cult classic, but Tom took it to such an extreme level with his more abstract style and really primed the masses for the kind of stuff Adult Swim became popular for.
@@salazam It's an aquired taste and most definitely not for everyone. My mother perceived it in a similar way as yourself, as I think most of the generation which preceded mine probably did. Are you right around the earliest of the millennial generation or before (about 35+)?
I remember when they aired his testicular cancer special. My mom made meatball sandwiches that night and we ate as his show was playing. Completely unplanned of course.
Bam released the first CKY movie in 1999, so that would mean he and DiCamillo had been writing it for at least a year prior. Tom Green had his show on MTV in 1999 so that claim doesn't hold up.
Eric Andre has said Tom Green was a big influence, no surprise. I watched Tom's show religiously and in awe as a teenager growing up in the 90's. Never got into Tim and Eric that much but definitely cracked up a few times I watched it. However, I can't believe that I never came across Eric Andre until this freakin year. I think he sort of synthesized Tom Green's public art and talk show weirdness with Tim and Eric's media styles and took it ten more levels higher into pretty much one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life. I have literally not been able to not watch episodes and clips everyday. Kind of excited to see this next season coming up, but maybe it's past his peak. Either way I'm still excited to see it.
@@Brakathor I have clearly watched her for a decade now. love Judge Judy. and I know how she is outside of the court and she's a very polite person, im sure she was annoyed but if she was mad or full of hatred she could have left. i also like Tom Green too
@@ganglabesh - Oh a LOT of her show is an act too. she's like a lion tamer, putting people on edge so they don't know how to plan their attack, and yes, outside that setting she's completely different in terms of personality: surprisingly soft spoken. I would argue where she's NOT different, hardly at all, is in terms of substance. She's a traditionalist, and a bit of a sophisticate. In my opinion, all those quips she makes about decorum, manners, and lifestyle, are NOT part of an act. I would imagine she finds "gross-out" humor irritating to no end.
Tom Green is like next generation Andy Kaufman. There's more bits he does that prove this better than this but his humor especially at the time was groundbreaking to such an extent I don't necessarily know that we would've gotten Jackass if it wasn't for The Tom Green Show paving the way for that. They were one of the first shows to do stunts in public and capture the public's responses which basically made the audience unwilling participants in his performance art. I think Andy Kaufman would've loved a lot of the things that Tom Green ended up doing specifically because it was so unconventional at the time for comedy especially.
Tom at his peak fame. It was such a crazy fast paced rise from Canada Access TV to Comedy Channel in Canada to MTV in the States and Marrying Drew Barrymore it must have been a mind trip. And dealing with Cancer also while this was going on.
As wacky as he manages to be here, I sense some subtle nervousness in Tom when he's having to answer interview questions. I guess because it diverges from his antics. He pulls it together though! I miss the guy.
Watching Tom Green get in Judy's face to gross her out and put her in her place since she couldn't do anything is one of the best things I've even seen. I despise that woman.
Although Judge Judy was horrified and and disgusted, I love that she was still sweet enough to pick up Tom's branch from the floor and put it on his lap as she said she never wants to be near him again ❤️
I made my spouse who used to hate tom green watch the show this year. He grew on her when he saw he was actually a really smart guy. Always kinda related to him bc I was a hyperactive kid.
Best of ambush comedy🤣 Can we ever forget when his little friend had to go to the 711 bathroom and he just would not leave him alone🤣😭Or when he got all these reporters at the lake telling them he was going to attempt this rare feat of swimming across all by himself and he DID and the reporters all acted important and in such fake awe. Local kids walked past and said they swam it all the time🤣🤣🤣
1 of my fave comedian is from Canada and hes name is Tom Green. im from Philippines!! i watched all his show from MTV age's ago.. Tom & all the Jackass boys!! best evr!!!!! haha very funny People!
"Road Trip" is my favorite comedy movie and that scene with Tom and the snake is totally hilarious. I totally wanted to get a Taurus back then too. Why was the movie clip edited out, though?
