I was there watching this shit. I was even one of the assholes calling into the show to fuck with Tom. 🤷 I regret it now, it was stressing the guy out. He was really trying to start something brand new.
Tom green is and was a juggernaut to the entertainment industry. Birthed public prank videos, podcasts, shock talk shows, and independent media/podcast type interview show formulas. Guy is just under appreciated in every way
Probably because he's Canadian, just like the change machines reject Canadian coins and spit em back out atcha 😂idk, but even his show on MTV was groundbreaking ahead of the curb
Agree he's great. Candid Camera WAY🔙 was the birth of prank videos. Some, though haven't seen since I was a boy 50 years ago would still be great, pretty sure.
I remember 07 rogan. When he talked about DMT and what he thought humans are, it was super eye opening. There was one realllly old video of audio, of him talking about it that I always liked, but could never find it again once he became popular. Too much other junk to sift thru. Glad he talked about it at the end. Brings back memories ha.
@Zombytes Look for old ManCow episodes with Rogan on em. I know he talked about the moon landing, DMT, etc...on his show. Hopefully that helps you find it
I was annoyed everyone went to fb. What a $hit show that site became. F meta. Now only people my parents age use it. It sucked from beginning, especially the aesthetics. On Myspace you could connect with anyone, it wasn't so US centric. Myspace is how I met my wife! LOL!
Tom Green was always about 10 years ahead of his time. People didn't know what to do with him. He probably would have been even more successful if he'd just stalled all his creativity for 6 or 7 years to let the world catch up to him.
I agree with you sir and it's tricky to explain it to people who are not dumb.. exactly..but they just don't get something until people give them permission to like something. Very tricky to put it in words. Salute compadre.
Tom was ahead of the game at all times. Pranks, that now are common place on RU-vid. Prank calls. Cable tv shows, this stuff. He was always cutting edge. Not to mention he bedded a pretty young Drew Barrymore. Now he’s living his best on a farm man. A legend.
They literally sat down and hashed out Joe's entire future career as a podcaster, predicted technological advances, invented LinkedIn, and had a few beers doing it.
I just turned 50 and I was kind of bummed about it, but now I realize I've witnessed some of the great arts and inventions in the last few hundred years. Lived in the 80's, was on the internet in 1988 (when you had to have an IBM and it was just message boards). All of the Tom Green and Rogan pods since day one. Deathsquad, etc. The only time I feel like I missed was being able to see Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin.
Im 55, born in 1969. We went from barely 50 years into electricity(useful-wise anyway), from vacuum tubes, and radios and Black and White TV, ...to transistors, ...to silicon based micro architectures for computers, ...to flat screen HDTV, ...to internet, ...to cell phones, ....to smart phones, ... to Artificial intelligence, ...to (possibly) what they are calling "The Singularity", the TOTAL 'CONVERGENCE' OF COMPUTERS AND HUMANS(they say around 2040) ....ALL IN OUR ONE SINGLE LIFESPAN ALONE!!!!! Thats CRAZY! From barely electrical technology, ...TO HUMANITY ALTERING (...DESTROYING ...?) levels of, essentially, magical technologies. Think about THAT!
Yeah don't be bummed at all. Your generation was full of gold. I was born in '91 and i get jealous when my mom tells me about growing up as a teen in the 80s and how much diffrrent things were. Congrats on turning 50 also🎉
Joe saw the future through Tom here. In 2007 I was taking a streaming media class in college and we were discussing all this stuff. I wish I was the pioneer but I saw it coming, uploading RU-vid videos on your phone was my prediction then
Little slice of podcast history right here. I remember Tom Green's shows on local cable in Ottawa in the late 90's. He's a legend. This is where the JRE idea came from. Way to post this. It's really nice to see.
Mad Props & Appreciation to Spawno for this Post!! I NEVER dreamed I'd be gifted the opportunity to witness the planting of the seeds which went on to sprout the beautiful Tree of Knowledge & Fun that IS the JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE!!! What a gift!! Thank You So Much for sharing!
Man I've been looking for this entire thing for years. I remember being introduced to Rogan from this interview back in 2007. Crazy how much the internet has changed since then..
1:12 regardless of how you feel about Joe Rogan, this is what a footprint in history looks and sounds like. If you understand the shape, feel and smell of it, then you'll be able to sniff it out in the future. Remember, documenting things is the second most important thing.
It's hard to comprehend just how important this moment in time was. Only Tom and Joe knew how amazing this was back then, and somehow Joe made It to the very top.
They are both very open minded liberals. Unfortunately the democrats have become the church ladies of the Deep South in the 60s, always trying to morally police ppl.
What a great guest Joe was on this show. I'm about 20 minutes in and realized wow this is an entertaining show. Its really no surprise his podcast is what it is.
@@PercussaResurgo- wow..are you drunk? Joe Rogans podcast is the best. He has done more for America as far as opening our eyes to lies than all other journalists, podcasters combined
I graduated in 2009, and I just don't remember things looking and feeling like this at the time. I guess I just don't remember and wasn't like that involved in internet or pop culture but this feels like late 90s early 00s compared to the time I kind of imagine
This is absolutely a magnificent moment in history. I was a HUGE fan of Tom Green in highschool and then Dave Chappelle when I graduated and was over seas in Marine Corps.
Tom Green started podcasting with Joe Rogan... he sparked the whole Jackass scene years before it. He had a number one song on TRL, a number one show on MTV, a number one film, one ball from cancer, and a wedding ring from Drew Barrymore. Tom's laugh is strictly an inhale... it's hilarious.
This is great, thanks for the video. Wow man looking back our video quality was horrible up until not that long ago. Technology has seriously increased so much since 07 . But Joe Rogan looks and sounds the same lol. And was Tom Green still living at his parents at this time lol seemed like that's what he said. 2024 now is a awesome time to be around for especially when looking back seeing our progress every year.
@59:37 he tried so hard to get tom to understand. Its so hilarious that joe understood way too well what freedom a podcast can truly bring, i love being able to see that passion in real time. Such a great moment in history to be captured, i loved watching every second of this
I definitely would - his subway monkey hour in Japan thing was kinda like RU-vid trolling but on TV plus I think he kinda invented man on the street with microphone trolling. He was always super inventive.
I remember watching this back in the day. him and I guest had ordered a pizza and some troll out there ordered like 30 pizzas to his house and it got there before their original pizza did. you see the look on Tom Green's face as he turns to the camera. just smiles, whips out his wallet and pays the dude and gives him a fat tip. The guest was like "damn, you ordered that many pizzas!?!" and he's like "No, I didn't" Then a short while later the original pizza gets there and he paid for that one as well😂
Tom Green really could be the top "podcast" if he would have seen what the internet was going to be. He really started pushing the medium forward. For people that forget, he was really creating a studio and was giving all these quarky people their own shows in his home. I LOVED watching it, and anything could happen. Or nothing could happen, and that was exciting.
dual 3.0 Ghz xeon processor with 4 Gigs of DDR2 memory and 3 SCSI RAID 5 configuration Drives......... Not only do i feel old, only today do i realize how inefficient that actually is. holy crap
I used to love this show and haven't found it anywhere online. Not sure if Tom took them all off line. But man im glad this popped up. I know that tom green invented Joe Rogan.
This was pure, nothing ever stays that way though. The internet is just another corporate product now, all of the danger and allure is Long gone now..we need that again, unfiltered, unadulterated talk, opinion...Truly free speech.
@@eizenkcm88 coz I'd leave a bone-chilling message explaining everything from the bush era to the biden era and how the whole world gets crushed under the thumb of a billionaire boardroom in switzerland. John TItor on steroids and all I'd have to really prove it by is the black senator from illinois becoming president in a year's time. and between their two shows I would alter the timeline and expedite the awakening and therefore spare humanity a lot of tragedy and waste.
And because like/clout seeking wasn't a thing yet interactions were so much more genuine. Forums would be hilarious, consistently. Comments on early RU-vid would be interesting..
This was such a good year for gaming too. We had Halo 3, Gears of war, and Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare all back when Xbox live was in it's golden days. Man I miss it! I remember the all nighters playing custom games on Halo 3, and being tired af when school came around the next day xD
Tom Green the godfather of pod casting 👌 the thing that helps Joe is his memory he can recount things hes seen and heard so well thats why he is so entertaining to watch
I wish I saw this back then when it happened , so much love for Tom greens wild and creative mind and Joe has such a beautiful pod cast now , what an exciting time to be alive man 😎
There is an episode with TonyHawk where I got to call in on Skype when I was 17 yrs old. I was wearing a Mad Bomber hat and asked Tony what it was like to Skateboard with Navarre Hale. Things got very awkward as I struggled to keep a straight face and hung up because Navarre was my friend who obviously had never met him but I thought it would be funny to prank him. Navarre was watching at his house so it was pretty funny to me. I hope you find that episode and upload it.
