No doubt. That's one of those moments in sports that, on its own, is magical, but minus the eventual WS win (which had nothing to do with the play itself), it lacks that immortality type of magic. For me, being a Lakers fan, Derek Fisher's .4 shot against the Spurs is that same sort of play as they went on to lose in the Finals.

I'm a cubs fan, and even I felt vicarious pride at that shot. This series was historic no matter who won, and I'm so happy both teams played with 100% heart (and no garbage cans lol). ❤

Wasn't it weird that game was called off for "rain" but earlier in the season they played a game in the snow?! That totally took momentum from the Tribe. MLB had a hard on for the Cubs to win that year. I love my Tribe.

Greatest series I've seen. I grew up with my dad as a cleveland homer and I will always stay true. Jose Mesa did his job, but the year I was born still hurts. I grew up loving jim thome especially, I have a signed batting practice ball from him. Kenny Lofton, the great comeback, who can forget Omar vizquel. Robby Alomar and of course sandy. Championships are the goal, and LeBron brought that to cleveland recently. As a better aside, Ichiro should always be someone we love in the US. IDC about the year they lost to cleveland, he was Pete rose but better. (I love and respect Pete and think he should be in the hall but ichiro reinvented the single). As much as the large markets are worths, the players are the entertainment. I hate KD for the move to Golden state, but I will never disrespect his talent. Again, 24 year old cleveland homer here, but I love all the games

​@blakemayo2898 that was a great few drama moments that wasn't a classic game cause the Cardinals made so many careless mistakes & were good enough to comeback but the entire game & series wasn't really a classic. Classic WS this one, 2001, 1975 & 1991. Those are classics.

Among the games I saw, it was this and the game 6 of the World Series in 2011. Cannot make a distinction of which one is better. Two battles in which the teams were throwing haymakers against each other, wide open games, something to keep any fan out of the chair or couch.

I loved the playful competition of cubs and Indians. It was a fun series with not much brutal competition. A few fights broke out, but we all knew deep down both great lake cities were desperate for a championship and have been in a drought so long. Cubs needed it just a bit more though unfortunately. It was bittersweet watching the cubs run on the feild and celebrate, but i ultimately felt happy for them knowing they broke that 108 year streak of loosing.

As a Cub's fan, this was the most incredible and devastating moments in sports history I have seen. Some of the experts are projecting another Indian's appearance for this year's WS and I will absolutely root for them. If the Cubs are not representing the NL of course.

jtors5 I know, BUT....it's just different with the Indians for me. I can't explain it. I don't know why. I LOVE my Buckeyes. I LOVE my Cavs and the Championship was... INCREDIBLE! But I can't say that any of those moments made me feel like this homerun did. To this a day I don't know why. I was running back and forth beside my pool.screming "Oh My GOD! Oh my God!" My sister was on her knees with tear streaming down her face saying same thing...i KNEW we were gonna win it. But we didn't and it was still a great moment.

fan4life34, dude, I've been to big sporting events all over the country and that was the loudest, craziest frenzy I've ever seen at any stadium anywhere! As a Cub fan I was crushed at the moment but I was also so caught up in the moment that I felt incredibly blessed just to be in the stadium.

Sitting downstairs, watching it with my dad while I was battling stage 4 cancer. When he hit that, I was so excited/pumped up that I almost hyperventilated (It did provide a good laugh with my doctor when I saw her later that week before one of my treatments) :p

In the parking lot of my apartment complex. We had the game on at work. I drove home listening to the game. I was not going to shut off the car until the end of that half of the inning. Davis hit the homer and I was celebrating along with breathing a sigh of relief that the game was again tied.

To be fair, that surge of sports energy in Cleveland was BECAUSE the Cavs had just won the Finals, not because Cleveland is more of a Tribe town than a Cavs town (these days). Before the Cavs completed the greatest comeback in sports history, EVERYONE in Cleveland expected yet another Championship disappointment since they were down 3-1 to a 73-win team, so the energy around Cleveland was less "excitement" and more "apprehension". Us Cleveland fans have known nothing but crushing disappointment for a LONG time, so that is what we expected yet again. After the Cavs won, a very dark sports cloud was lifted, the Indians suddenly surged and made it to the World Series, and people were incredibly excited to have two unbelievably good sports teams at the same time for the first time in Cleveland sports history. Also, when you think about it the Indians were probably even more of the underdogs in the WS than the Cavs were in the Finals, making their success even more exciting because it was unexpected. The Warriors were one of the best teams ever assembled, but the Cavs did have one of the top 3 greatest players in NBA history. The Indians were missing their best hitter (Brantley) and their second AND third best starting pitchers, which is what ended up doing them in in the end. If this town REALLY loved the Indians like they did back in the 90's, home games wouldn't still be littered with empty seats, even AFTER decreasing the capacity of the stadium by 10,000.

thats because the indians were the unlikely heroes.... and it really was them against the world. we came so close to greatness....

Alex S 2.1 million in attendance in 2017 says that baseball is definitely back in the city of Cleveland, and our playoff games sold out in just minutes (37,000)per game with the extra seating added for postseason, still the disappointment of losing hurts as always. Good thing is, we have the core of this team around for the next 4 years, so we have to get a ring by then!

I'm not from the US of A, but I swear to you: I'll never understand what this question really is about. There is a reality of prejudice against indigenous people in the US, in my homecountry of Brazil, and in many other places, we can't deny it. On the other hand, I don't see how any franchise with indigenous names contributes to the problem. I'll put here the example of the Redskins: we all know the movies and stuff sells the image of the cowboy defeating the indian. Many actors of the old days built their careers around that (not telling that they are or were bad people). But doesn't the Redskins, through their rivalry with the Dallas Cowboys, promote the good name and picture of indigenous people wherever they may be, especially when they're winning? Some people might think that George Preston Marshall is still alive. He was a bad icon, but we should look to the good ones in history, like Jack Kent Cooke and, among the fans, the late Chief Zee. It sounds like some idiots carrying cancel culture in their skins won the battle. Thx God here they were forced to look themselves in the mirror after this year's events in our season of the Big Brother

Tribe fan here. I was on the plaza outside the gate where this landed. We were losing our minds with joy, and I saw the pain in cub fans around me with their face pale. I thought this was our year for SURE!! Great series all the way.

Which is another reason some Cardinals fans should appreciate what they've had. As a Reds fan post Big Red Machine who was a little kid in 1990 I'm dying one day to see the Reds just win one World Series that I can really remember & follow. But some of these Cardinals fans I'm friends with their Cardinals won 2 rings 2006 & 2011 yet cause they've had a few bad seasons since by Cardinals standards they RIP their organization product & I want to tell them try experiencing losing for 15 years basically straight try suffering a heart breaking loss you will never get over like your Cardinals gave the Texas Rangers in Game 6, try getting your heart broke & just see what bad baseball is so you can see what other fans from other franchises have to watch. It just sickens me that some fans can't appreciate good when they have it.

Patrick Gray- I agree, the Rangers and their fans will be heartbroken for decades. They had it and we stole it. Your Reds on the other hand do have some good young players in their organization and definitely made the right move making Jim Riggleman manager. But the problem the Reds are going to have is they are in a small market and it's tough to spend and compete against all of the big market teams. That being said I'm not saying it can't happen, just will be more difficult.

Where the Cardinals I classify them as a middle organization moves can hurt them but it won't totally destroy them. Take Dextor Fawler & Mike Leake dumb moves yet they still were around 80 wins .500. The small market clubs a mistake & a injury or 2 could make you lose 100 games. The system is a joke.
