Hanks was partially wrong as you said. And Pegg was right in that Kirk did call Spock a "mutinous, disloyal, computerised, half-breed" to which Spock replied "the term half-breed ia somewhat applicable ..." but he was wrong in that it wasn't the comment that caused Spock to punch.

I was hoping his son would show up as a younger version of Q in "Discovery" but now they're in the future, so maybe John will show up there. And call me crazy, but the only series without Q (other than TOS) was the one that supposedly failed, "Enterprise".

No. You didn't miss it. Tom Hanks got it wrong. There was no "Jojo". Kirk's line was "You belong is a circus Spock. Not a star ship. Right next to the dog faced boy!" And why couldn't Tom name that episode? It was titled "This Side of Paradise". Not "the spores episode". I take a point away for that. And he did miss the "I, Mudd" question.

FYI Tom Hanks was considered for the role of Zefram Cochrane. Being an avid Star Trek fan, Hanks was receptive to the role, but had to pass due to his commitment to directing and starring in That Thing You Do!

cmon cut nicole some slack. just cos star trek isn't her favourite thing in the world doesn't make her less of a person. yes she's all dolled up - she wants to look presentable around her peers who are also biggies of show business. but what you didn't know is that she is classically trained in music. music for her is what star trek is for those nerds.

Seriously, I'm tired of seeing all this hate she's getting. I don't really see what she did to get all of it...I'm guessing it's the way she talks and dresses that makes her seem like a bimbo? 'Cause those can be deceiving. She seems nice here and had a great rapport with the other two throughout the whole show. But now it's like it's a crime that she doesn't know anything about Star Trek or even that she's on the couch in the first place. This is a show where Graham brings on guests from different fields in the public eye. Sometimes it's the shows where the guests are so different that are most entertaining.

One reserve weekend, I wandered into the TV room in the BEQ and several sailors were in there watching Star Trek. I couldn't quite place the episode, but the uniforms were a dead give-away: "Third season." Everybody in the room looked at me and slowly started backing away. BTW, it was "That Which Survives."

Hanks was wrong. Kirk never said "Jo Jo". The line was "You belong in a circus, Spock, not a starship. Right next to the dog faced boy!" At this point in the Episode, Spock's rage was so great that Shatner and Nimoy both transformed into stunt doubles which proceeded to wreak havoc upon the transporter room.

I knew Kirk never said the name "Jojo", and I was right! I just caught that episode (The Paradise Syndrome) and he just says, "...right next to the dog-faced boy!". Before that he did say the (even funnier) line, "Alright you mutinous, computerized, disloyal, half-breed let's see about you deserting my ship!"

Actually, Kirk didn't call Spock "JoJo" The Dog-Faced Boy, the line was "You belong in a circus, Spock, not a starship. Right next to the Dog-Faced Boy". And that was just the "straw that broke the camel's back" for Spock. Kirk had insulted him several times prior to this line.

Well no, it's actually because I am so very smart that I was unsure. You see we actually do have the technology to make very convincing holograms. I thought that maybe, just maybe they had simply projected a hologram of him not being there over him and then faded it to make it look like he came back. I wasn't sure because I know for a fact that we have the technology to do what I just described.

Actually, Spock didn't put a fist through a console in This Side of Paradise (the episode with the spores). That was Amok Time, and he beat it to death. Also, Kirk didn't call him "Jojo" he just said he was a freak, and should be right next to the dog faced boy.

Kirk never called Spock a dog faced boy. Kirk said Spock belonged in a circus and locked up in a cage next to him. He did, however, call him a half breed (then insulted his parents by calling his dad a computer and mother an encyclopedia.) So technically Simon was right.
