I respect actors/actresses who are open and speak about their addiction. It's not only very brave, but thoughtful of them. People have such horrible opinions about addicts, especially those in the spotlight. It's nice to have people willing to educate.
Tom is jus so cool. He makes me feel even though i was an addict, its alright life doesnt have to end there. Clean up, and when you come out youll see what da world has to offer.
Tom Hardy is a true human being. Making a significant name for himself with his talents, yet helping those rise up, those in need, sharing his own challenged experiences. What a human spirit!
Unless your an addict it's very hard to understand, I've been clean for 2 years and people like Tom. Can make such a difference and his humility and honesty is admirable.
I agree hes definitely in my top 5 favorite actors, but besides his performances, its the fact that he was an addict prior and during his acting career, (Now for those of you who are addicts or were, you can understand how difficult it was for Hardy to pursue his dream while battling his addiction, and for those who never were addicts, i tip my hat to you, but its very difficult for those to understand what will power it took Hardy to not only rid himself of addiction but to push himself beyond to the point where his dream became a reality.) that i resonate with him a lot. I was always a dreamer, when my boys were getting union jobs in Queens (where i was born and raised) they would laugh at me or tease me for even thinking i can become an actor, one of my boys wanted to do it too but because of our environment he was discouraged, But like Hardy says "Never give up on your dreams" because even if they dont pan out, worse case scenario you/i end up like all my boys who are working for unions doing manual labor, n let me say manual labor will make you realize how good you had it n how bad life can be when you choose a wrong path. Thats why if I'm unable to be an actor, I'll just be a full-time dreamer lol until i break thru. Jeremy Renner, another guy in my top 5, he was the lead in National lampoons senior trip around the mid 90s, after that he couldn't book an audition for 20 YEARS, than he finally got that role in SWAT, than he did the Town, Hurt Locker than the Bourne Legacy, Avengers, American Hustle etc. Point being that he never gave up on his dream even if it took him the 20 years that it did, and with all the movie roles hes been killing, hes now a permanent fixture in Hollywood an A- list actor. So once again NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM!

Those words are very true. This guy's Everest was higher than mine, but he was just as interested nevertheless. A stand up guy who came out on top. It was a pleasure.
Hi, I'm seven years clean since I was able to wake up from the nightmare of addiction. I just wanted to tell you that you can do it. No matter how difficult it may seem to be, it is possible to come back to human life.
Admire you tom to stay humble in an industry that can easily push you over the edge...your very grounded, love how you admit your fears not afraid to show your vulnerable side....all the makings of a leader takes a strong person to allow the world to see you as you are and as you were not easy
At about 1:55 when the piano music kicks in in the background onwards is the best part of the video. Especially when Kenny asks "so what is your proudest moment then?" to which Tom replies "probably sitting here with you, mate" was heartwarming. Two ex addicts who've changed and done something constructive and inspiring with their lives, and when Tom says their 'personal Everests' which they had to climb themselves & no one else could see or knew what they were going through. It's a great video and great showcase of the human spirit and how powerful it is.
I love love love tom hardy. He is a brilliant actor and is always so convincingly menacing onscreen, but as himself, he has a very kind expression in his features. He's so firggin cute!

Tom Hardy is a refreshing breath of air as far as celebrities go! The rest of Hollywood sorely needs a dose of humility. Too often, they become jaded while mired in their own world of self-importance. When something like People Magazine panders to celebrities, like an article calling some big star "The World's Greatest Dad" despite the fact that they're a first time parent at the age of 50, with a newborn. I think the public needs more exposure with celebrities who are humble. After all, they earn their exorbitantly outrageous salaries pretending to be someone else. Some of them even have the nerve to expect awards for their recognition.
I just saw the film Locke. I did not know Tom Hardy from Adam. He is absolutely amazing in this superb film. I thought for sure he was Welsh because he does a perfect Welsh accent in it. But that's just one amazing thing about the film. You must see it.
Good on Tom for being so upfront and honest. An inspiring man who is dedicating time to inspire others. Good luck to all those heroes helping the youth of today.
Ive heard him say before that hes scared of everything and hes a big softie really and i just find it the most adorable thing because you would never expect it from an actor who gets cast primarily in tough, violent roles. Hes so precious.
Love The Drop. Hardy plays a real kind of guy. Knowing he's had real situations in life, I appreciate him more. And I appreciate others, like Kenny Ross, who make a good journey after going through the chaos and strife and self-indulgence. The afterlife is tricky. It takes many different types for the many different types, even though there are many similarities.
Never have I heard someone speak and say the things I would say to describe myself...scared of everything, an addict...and a bit wonky in the head...some days feel so heavy I struggle so much but seeing a video like this helps...I hope I can overcome myself and pursue my dreams...good luck to everyone else out there watching this video ;) x

wow im not one for speaking out but right now I could not admire tom anymore if I tried. Admitting you have a problem witj any taboo subject is so hard kudos to this project!!! i have problems and life can be hard but people like this help beyond word's. Thanks tom x
Tom comes across as kind and empathetic. He has made no secret of his own drug and alcohol problems, who better to talk to addicts so they to can overcome their own demons and realize that they to can change their lives nothing is impossible.
Tom is amazing man but Kenny so brave telling his story and coming out the other side my God always give him and all addicts the courage and strength I have it in my family and it so hard to watch but getting there throw God help
