Once a dancer, always a dancer. He has the posture of a dancer and still remembers some things. As much as he took classes just to debut the musical, the marks of ballet still live in him. It's so beautiful.
@@chooseyourpoison5105Actually, they saw Tom doing hip hop dancing, and trained him in ballet and tap for a couple of years before he took on his role in Billy Elliot.
People that think ballet isn’t masculine drive me nuts, it requires so much strength and skill and precision. Being in good shape and having control over your body will always be attractive, regardless of gender
I read comics (because it was a serial comic) about ballet as a kid, and the comics showed that even grown man (or men) does ballet. I mean just because ballet is beautiful (hence the "feminine" label, I think?), doesn't mean that it's only for females (The truth is, I can't dance. Any type of dance, let alone doing ballet, so I do have respect for dancers out there, knowing how much they train)
@@jasmintea8825 y'know, I sometimes think of tom holland like this: "he is beauty, he is grace, he will kick you in the face" Because, Spider-Man And it's as a general statement, not aiming at anyone
I know he always says in interviews that the biggest mistake in his life was giving up dancing after doing Billy Elliott. But honestly: after this video I know that he still has such a high skill level that he just could start practicing again. Of course he doesn't have the level of the professionell Ballett dancer but he still is freaking good! And that honestly just makes me so happy for him! He started to do pirouettes and I was like: "YAAAS! YOU STILL GOT IT, TOM! NOW BACK TO THE BAR!"
@@jade_playzgamez4708 wrong that has nothing to do him being cast as spiderman. no film company would risk that his main actor gets hurt by doing a stunt. it could ruin the whole project. the thing with the backflips is just for PR
@@genki2705 He does do a lot of his own stunts. I'm pretty sure he's told a story about his audition where he genuinely did flips and stuff like that (can't remember the whole story rn) His ability to do stuff like this did help him get the role
Why is everyone so surprised? Do people not know that he was Billy in Billy Elliot the Musical on the West End? He already had a dance background but they do very heavy ballet training for years before they're even be accepted into the part of Billy.
As a ballet dancer. His skill is incredible, no matter how long it’s been he’s never gonna lose this. Barre being unbelievably boring is the realest thing ever😭 floor activities are the best
The more I find out about him, the more I realize he’s the perfect person to play Spider-Man. He has such excellent control of his body and can move so effortlessly.
My first thought too! I can't believe he's doing this in jeans and in my stretchy jeans I still don't get the mobility I want for regular moving around.
@@ashleyyyy8833 lol i thought the same "I've learned my dance moves in London and you've learned your dance moves in Africa". like bro there are diverse countries and cities in Africa
as an African it's so annoying because that's like saying you learned yours in europe. Europe is a huge continent so we don't generalize. so we should do the same with africa
THANK YOU! his name should be in the title of the video too. do you know his last name? also, the “london... africa” comment... SMDH. london is a CITY, africa is a freakin CONTINENT, tom. i’m assuming he’d spoken to joel long enough to know where in an entire continent joel was from... !? like i’m just gonna guess, since he’s from kenya - “me in london, you in nairobi” - there, hopefully fixed it for ya tom. sigh.
And Dance! Just saw Hugh in The Music Man and he is just multi-talented. Yes, he can sing, but his dancing skills far exceed his great voice. At 53 years of age, the man had the energy of and was the technical equal of every skilled, acrobatic, dancer on the stage that were half his age and younger. If anyone wants to see a show and a performance you’ll always remember, and that of his co-star, also brilliant, Sutton Foster, see that show. People like Hugh and Tom, who play hyper masculine roles or super hero’s, are playing a vital role in removing this stigma about dancing, especially with men, conveying its discipline, difficulty, and athleticism. It takes just as much muscle and core strength to dance as any other sport, so they should show this to high school athletes, before someone fills their heads with misconceptions. They may end up respecting the classmate they would normally bully. That’s how I see it anyway. Exposing kids to the arts at the earliest of ages would make society kinder, more civil, and happier.
Most people are normal and don't search, stalk, are fans or go out of their way to look up a person. Not assuming and not knowing until shown is a normal thing.
@@jasmineh.3002 True, but my point was more about being well known inside certain spheres but unknown outside of it. For instance, I am Australian and Hugh Jackman was a famous musical theatre star here for many years; I have a quiet giggle at Americans expressing astonishment that Wolverine can sing. Same with Tom Holland - he was well known in theatre circles as a dancer and actor - and yet we have people amazed that Spiderman can dance.
well he did play Billy Elliot and while he would have needed to be pretty good at ballet in general, being good at pirouettes is a must as the iconic moment of the show is Billy learning to do pirouettes and just doing as many as he can in a row
I am very grateful for this video! My youngest son loves dancing and is at the Theaterdance in school. He is often laughed at by boys from his class, which is why he is very sad. But since I found the video yesterday, he can now say that Spiderman also dances ballet!!! That motivates him a lot!!😄🤗
If he enjoys it and has friends in class and support at home that is the most important thing. Keep exposing him to men who dance and not just ballet. Men like Patrick Swayze, Hugh Jackman (Boy From Oz) and even Justin Timberlake. Dance is a beautiful art form that is expressive and athletic. I hope he continues to dance for as long as he continues to enjoy it.
That is wonderful! Tell you son to define himself by what he thinks and feels! I know that is hard when they are young and the opinion of "others" seems so monumental, but all those people talking are meaningless when he is dancing all over the world!
Don’t say it like that please this isn’t Peter. “Peter” is just a character the writers made Tom Gave the character a face and voice. HE IS NOT peter he is Tom.
“I learned my dance moves in London but you learned yours in Africa… and they’re the same dance moves” hit me. This is what we need to realize to make the world a better place. Tom holland is the future of a better world❤❤❤
breezter >His *Training For Spiderman* shows what an amazing athlete he is!! >Noticed bboying/street dancing, then got training in gymnastics, acting, singing, tap, ballet, contemporary dance, etc & then at 12 - 13 1/2 was the lead in very physical "Billy Elliott" Musical in London!! >Alway liked free running (like parkour), extreme soccer & skateboarding.. Kept up with gymnastics & ballet, helped w/physical movie roles! >He's also an amazing actor, like in "The Impossible" & "Heart Of The Sea"!! >For Spider-man, learned boxing, extreme weight & strength training, rock climbing, extreme pull-ups, electronic muscle stimulation during yoga, etc!! Probably did 95% of Spider-Man stunts..Craazy!! >He's also hilarious, like his British comedian dad! Watch "Interview With Sway" & "KISS Interview" in the UK!! Hilarious!😊
honestly male ballet dancers in casual clothing but dancing is probably one of the most attractive things in my opinion. its just such a demanding sport: the strength, focus, and control it takes is just so admirable, and to me, attractive ♥️
I love when he says the word Honest or Honestly. He is generally and honest and genuine person. No wonder people like being around him. Talking to someone who is completely honest is quite amazing. Obviously everyone has secrets, but other than that he is very open with his conversations with people.
"I learned my dance moves in London, you learned your dance moves all the way in Africa" A small pet-peeve is when people say "Africa" instead of naming the actual country. Joel said more that once during his talk with Tom that he was Kenyan. But people tend to default to saying "Africa" even when they know the country.
I found that really grating as well. He was using the name of a city in Europe at the same time as saying "Africa" - seriously? It's a whole ass continent.
It bothered me too, but I get why he did it, or at least why I would do it. It's because I wouldn't want to misspronounce the name of the city and I would be ashamed to ask again because then the other person would think I'm not paying attention. But it's just a small mistake and everyone can make them, I think is better to just talk things through and learn from one another than holding grudges and using it against each other to further separate groups. (sorry for my English, is not my first language)
Most boys learn to love ballet once they do men's class! The amazing jumps are what intrigue them! Tom is such a good dancer and the african guy has amazing turns
Doing barre is like doing scales. It’s foundation for everything else. I can understanding why an action guy like Tom would find it boring but he kept at it!
THIS MADE ME SO HAPPY YOU HAVE NO IDEA! THANK YOU! The whole time I was watching I was thinking of Ben Cook and how they both are so perfect and similar.
Give appreciation to the Kenyan man who struggled to get dance classes and yet found a way to make it to the states to study. That's an impressive story too
Those fouettes. Holy mother of god! I danced 18 years and could manage maybe two or three en pointe. I gave up dancing years ago when I got married and I miss it. I think I'll drag my 39 year old bones back into the studio.
It’s amazing all the things Tom Holland has accomplished at such a young age - he did ballet, made movies, got awards, learnt carpentry and now he’s the lead of one of the most famous movie franchises. Also... He can do backflips in jeans 😂 I wish I was so athletic! I feel so lazy at his side! 🙈 I bet all those boys who bullied him in school because he danced ballet are sooooo jealous now 😈 Take that, bullies! To think that if they had become friends with him, they might have met Stan Lee or attended Tom’s movie premieres. I read Tom took a friend to have dinner with Stan Lee
The couple good friends he has from childhood are still his friends. At least one lives with him. Despite his fame he's still a seemingly normal regular good guy.
I have been dancing for over 11 years and his statement of dance staying the same wherever you are is soooooo true and I mean even if you are feeling down and are having the absolute worst day of your life dance is there for you (and Tom Holland ❤️)no matter what 😊
But like before I was blessed with this video I was wondering if I should do ballet lesson. AND NOW MY MOTIVATION HAS SKYROCKETED CAUSE TOM DOES BALLET I knew he did all along but like-
Actually any dance discipline can impress girls, and I say this as a 34 year old straight dude who did a lot of dancing in Middle & High school (I never had formal training, but I am a natural born dance talent). You don't really need ballet to impress a girl, if you're good at Hip-hop, Jazz, or even K-pop dance (which I do), that alone can attract a lot of girls to a guy just because of that dancing talent.
It's not only an international language. Dance is used in mating. I mean several birds, and insects used dancing to attract their mates. And guess what, most of the birds and insects that dance to win mate are male. So dancing can be used to win a girls' heart. I mean there are scientific evidence that if a guy dance really well, then that male dancer can win a lot of girls heart.
