Do "The Carleton", dude!!! Seriously, this guy was someone that Elvis Presley looked up to as a singer...and he's still going strong in his 80s as a judge of 'The Voice UK'.
Went to the doctors in the week, i said " when i wake up in the morning i cant stop singing Delilah for the first hour of the day....every day, please help me" he said "aaahhh, you have Tom Jones disease", i said "is it common?" He said "its not unusual"
Tom’s 80 now. He’s still as cool as can be, and still got the voice. He’s a judge on The Voice U.K. You should check out some of his impromptu performances on there, between the acts, to entertain the audience.
Another great reaction, Tom Jones is brilliant - the Welsh Wizard! If you have time try out Delilah, it’s often sung at sports events in the U.K.! I saw him in concert last year, in his 80s and still doing the moves, voice was fantastic!!❤️💕🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I was 17 years old when I saw him back in 2014. I can’t properly describe how amazing it was. I think back to that night and I want to go back to do it all again. ❤️
My favorite song by him is "She's a Lady." There's also a really cool live performance of him with Janis Joplin called "Raise a Hand" that's definitely worth checking out.
I was lucky enough to go to a concert of his in 2014. I must have been the only 17 year old there and even at his age he could and can sing this song exactly like this. ❤️
Tom Jones does the most superb version of "The Green, Green Grass of Home" you will ever hear. It will bring you to tears. He has a magnificent voice and sings with such feeling. Back in the late 60s he had a variety show on Friday night for a few years. I bet there are some great performances on that - he often sang with some of his musical guests. - I'll have to look into it.
He went to go see the Beatles rehearsal before a show and the first one on stage was John Lennon, he saw Tom Jones sitting in the seats and sang into the mic "it's not an elephant it's a unicorn" then said "how you doing you welch puff?" Tom was livid and answered "come down here and I'll show you". True story.
FUN FACT: Tom Jones recording of Its Not Unusual was intended to be a demo. His recording turned an unknown Tom Jones into a major star. It became his signature song throughout his career.
I remember this song from about 1965 when I was 9 years old, and I'm now 64. Carlton's favorite song to dance to on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Great song. Still singing today. This song made him a star.
I was a kid in the '60s when this was playing everywhere in the late 1960s. When I hear someone say"Tom Jones", this is the song that always pops into my head.
About a decade ago (approx) Tom Jones had a residency at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. We live in So California and drive to Vegas all the time and we went to his show FOUR times! He is actually before my time a bit (even though I will be 59 this Saturday), but he put on such a FUN show that just made you happy (and yes, women still brought panties to throw on stage to him!). It never got old (just like the Beatles LOVE show at Mirage - I've seen that 15 times). You should look up some footage of Tom Jones performing in his later years.
I LOVE your reaction to Tom Jones' dance! I had the very same reaction and face when I saw him for the first time just a week or so ago. lol He's got the moves, the voice, and he's having mega-fun performing! Also, Alfonso Rebeiro (Carlton on Fresh Prince) swears Tom Jones is Black bcz of all the above AND his hair. LOL
You've got "The Voice" in the USA now ... but it started in the UK, and this legend was one of the judges. He also sang "Thunderball", the 4th Bond movie ... he nearly passed out on the last note!
One of my fondest memories is being allowed at the age of 6 to stay up and watch the Tom Jones show. My sisters and I sang "It's Not Unusual" for days afterwards!
Tom had a show on HBO too. I was a young girl at the time and lived out in the country so we only had tv from the antenna. My cousin, on the other hand, lived in a neighboring city and she had HBO so I started going to her house to stay over night and goodness, it was the night that Tom was on t.v.. That worked really well until my mother saw Tom Jones perform and she decided he was telling young girls the wrong thing so my weekly overnights to my cousin's ended. Thank god for youtube, I still get to watch him. Thanks for your reaction, Jay.... I ENJOYED it. Take care and be well. Peace.
There is a live performance of Treat Her Right in which Tom really lets loose with his dancing... and of course fantastic singing. There is a multicolored lit stage, too... for full "boogie down" effect! Another fun one is his version of Prince's Kiss (with The Art of Noise)
Lots of great Tom Jones songs for reactions! SHE’S a LADY, YOU’RE MY WORLD, I WHO HAVE NOTHING, WITHOUT LOVE, and so many more, including a cover if Prince’s KISS.
There are some songs I already know your reaction is going to be great and this is one of them. Haven't even watched the video yet and I'm already smiling. Edit: they really shortened that song for the E. Sullivan show its much longer than that normally. Oh and if you really want a trip check out Tom's cover of the Prince song "Kiss" its outstanding.
I just have to point out the band leader in back of Tom Jones - he's having a pretty good time himself. Seems like I should recognize him but I'm having a senior moment.
I' VE KNOWN THIS SONG WITH THE DANCE OF CARLTON BANKS THE CHARACTER OF THE SERIES OF PRINCE OF BAL AIR, was funny 😂😂👍, I Can' t forgotten this SERIES TV, was really wonderful, excellent characters and was given great message against Racism, against the violence of Police toward of Afro Americans.
I love your videos and critiques. Your love for music and good talent has made me rethink and appreciate singers I hadn't before. Thank-you for your positivity. Seeing the good in things I once I thought bad has been a game changer for me and a by-product is my mindset has been changed, a real happy accident for me. Makes me enjoy more.
Both my mom and dad loved Tom Jones. I remember by the time I was 5 yrs old I not only knew who he was but I loved his music and would just dance my little heart out. I still have my parent’s records and still listen to them. Oh and the part about the panties is very true. I remember my mom ironing dad’s pants while watching Tom in concert on TV. This was in the 60’s, and panties were being thrown on the stage.
Tom Jones...always a great performer. Amazing singer, and the ladies used to go crazy when he did those moves. All of his songs sound amazing with that big band sound. Love Tom Jones.
Tom Jones is Welsh, from the country of Wales 🏴 in the United Kingdom but part of it, (even though they have their own parliament now) and the Welsh have a long history of being great singers, especially the men, male choirs, everything. 🙂
Yes this is the song carlton danced to on fresh prince of bel air, when he danced with the candle and then will came down the stairs and carlton hands will the candle like " I wasn't just dancing"
When I was a kid it was very common for popular musicians to have TV shows. So I used to watch the Tom Jones TV show, and also shows by Glen Campbell, Sonny and Cher, Donny and Marie, Tony Orlando and Dawn, Dean Martin, etc.
I can't understand why there are so many Tom Jones reactions around youtube but so few Shirley Bassey. Both Welsh, contemporaries, hugely successful , long lasting careers and both can belt out a song like nobody else.
