there are some nuances to how portals work and generate.. it is possible to make them go exactly where you want, but i think its impossible to learn on your own.

It's a good day when another episode of Tom learns Minecraft comes out

Stepping on your crops is completely fine but hippity hopping on them will un-till your dirt

Minecraft is definitely a game that is learned by others, in the beta versions there was something called secret update fridays, they added new features and you wouldn’t know about it unless you found it by accident or was told by another player

Farming tips if you want \/: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . You can put torches around ur farm so the crops always have light. When you go far away, the chunks unload and nothing progresses. So ur farm wont grow.

Glowstone is a stylish alternative to torches.

Portals do have logic, but some of the stuff is a bit chaotic as you have seen... I love watching you figure it out though!

Villager tip if wanted-> Try upgrading some villagers by trading with them, they have trades that are well worth the grind. (Particularly the armor, weapon, and tool smiths)

I'm gonna be honest I had no clue you would ever find out about the "portal travelling system thing" so quickly. I played the game for years and only realized it like last year. I hope you use it to your advantage in the future if you ever think it necessary, that's awesome

as you figured, the nether isn't 1:1 with the overworld. what's happening is cause the portal on one side is on the range boarder and the game isn't sure weather it is linked to the portal by your base or if it needs to make a new portal for you to come out of closer to the ratio from nether to overworld. also im slightly sad cause I haven't been as able to keep up with the series recently but still enjoying tuning in

Starting watching about a week ago now, been very interesting watching you play through this completely blind... I've got a good ~30,000 hours in the game by now over 12+ years, and very few times have I gotten to reexperience the levels of discovery from those earliest days. Wanted to suggest a few things that aren't spoilers or tips for the game, but a few ideas for ways to approach things so you can more easily learn on your own. Firstly, there's not a lot of bugs/glitches in things like the portal spawning, or really anything major you're likely to discover on your own. I won't mention HOW they work, but they ARE things that are perfectly predictable once you know the rules (even if the rules are occasionally dense), so you don't have to worry about always having exceptions to worry about. One of the biggest things I can suggest for anything you're unsure of is to test rigorously. Set up controlled experiments, measure whatever quantities seem important like a scientific test. Repeat tests a block further about, or two times further apart, or ten, if that seems sensible for a given thing you're investigating. Generally don't try changing multiple different things at once, or else you won't know which one gave you the new result. (Of course, prefacing all this is that this is only if you really want to dive deep into a particular mechanic and puzzle it out, for anyone else out there perhaps reading this also new to the game, or to you Tom, if that's not how you find the fun happily ignore that idea and test your own way.) Then, on a different note of suggestion... You have a lot of redstone, which is one of my favorite types of blocks. Lots of fun mechanics, but the only thing I'll leave here for you is the gentlest nudge to let you know how to start experimenting if you so choose. The dust can be placed, and redstone torches near it can be fun. Anything particularly advanced might require looking up but that's for later if you want to. If anything I've mentioned feels like it falls too close to spoilers or tips, which I hope it doesn't, feel free to note and I'll avoid such commenting in the future.

Seeing you figuring out how portals work on your own is really cool. I know some things get spoiled but you learned a lot by yourself and that alone is amazing.

Don't worry, even old players barely know how portal mechanics work.

I think the reason Minecraft is so popular is the fact that it's so hard to play the game without being engaged with the community. You basically have to ask questions and interact with the community to figure anything out, which makes videos and tutorials really popular among players of the game.

If your want to make your enchanting table look cooler, you should surround it with two block high bookshelves with a one block gap between the table and the bookshelves and leave one side open so you can get in. This would make it look so much cooler and might make the enchantments stonger if you have believe in it hard enough.

Hahaha, ya portals are weird sometimes

I'm not gonna explain everything about portals obviously, but I will say ONE thing that you (probably) already guessed. Read if you want . . . . . . Where the portal is height wise (bottom of the world, on the ground, or even up in the sky) has no effect on where you pop out of.

if you diamond pick breaks you could say the *_f_* word to the number *_3_* key

Yeah, portals are confusing. It's weird how it placed a new portal in the middle of nowhere when you had a perfectly good portal in town... Maybe it IS a bug, who knows.-
