My dad is a vet ...did tours in Egypt and Afghanistan...came home a different person ...he's now locked up because of a ptsd melt down..my brother served in Iraq he has issues also ..I come from a military family so I understand brother

I am a vet from a different war a lifetime ago, in what is now known as Namibia. I agree with you, I don't want my friends or family, or even others I don't even know to witness the horrors I witnessed. I just want to be left alone to suppress the PTSD in my own way, and try to forget the things seared into my young mind so long ago, that sometimes wake me up in a cold sweat, and make me look at my loved ones and then I thank God that they haven't dropped the bomb yet! Damn it Tom you made me tear up you b****** 😅

My grandfather was in the Navy, retired with a "clean bill of health." Died 6 months later from cancer. My dad was 11 so i never met him. My uncle served in the Navy as well, thank God he is still with us today. My brother went into the army because he wanted to be a federal agent. Ended up in Iraq for 18 months. My son is a Marine, my son in law is an Army drill Sargent my grandson just graduated army boot camp. I salute every veteran and all of thier family. It is not an easy road! ❤

My father was a WWII combat veteran. I witnessed his pain growing up. He took his life at 53 years old. I can see that pain in you. God bless you and please keep making a difference.

It was just happenstance that the guitar actually belonged to Johnny Cash at one point. Tom wasn't looking for it, but he found a black guitar that he needed for the video. My husband served three back to back tours in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive in 1968. He is 77 years old, an Air Force Vet who was part of R.E.D.H.O.R.S.E....he has flashbacks of things like Hamas is doing. It was up close and personal. He dreams of fighting infiltrators in his sleep. My heart goes out to all who have yet to face these realities. War is HELL personalized. Respect to my fellow Veterans.

Great reaction im glad to hear your insight on this as a veteran i am not a vet in the military i will not pretend to know the ordeal you go through my great grandpa was a WW2 vet and he engrained in me that war is not a simple equation and i think the west that for the most part is seeing conflict images most people dont see and the west has not experienced much hardship in recent years other then those who went to the middle east like my father we are secluded human beings arent made to see this kind of stuff and it makes people think about these stories your taught about good and evil people dont know what real war is because were not meant to comprehend it thanks for your insight and thanks for your service.

This song gave me goosies and got all up in my feelings. I'm a veteran that never had to see war. I served during war but never had to go overseas and fight. I was overseas twice on construction projects in Italy and Romania. I have friends that were in battle aNd the stories are breathtaking. I I served one tours in Afghanistan in 2006 since then I go to sleep with my demons the little sleep I get. I wish I could forget everything I've seen and done however that ain't going to ever happen and for that reason I love mankind enough I wish it on nobody. I love you content keep it up

I born in a country in the middle of civil war, when I was 7yo I looked how a hill 2 miles away from my home was being shoot and bombed in the middle of the day and how one stray bullet ended in the kitchen of my house, I have meet a lot of kids that lose arms, legs or both because of landmines even years after the civil war ended, that song hit really hard with me...

Thank you for your service thank you for risking your life for our freedom I understand where you're coming from somebody posted on tiktok today a recording of a woman being tortured by Hamas while somebody was in there safe room recording it it was so horrible it made me sick all I can hear is this lady screaming in the background saying no and oh my God and I can only imagine what was happening to her I can't get it out of my mind and I don't know how to get it out of my mind I don't know why that was on tiktok nobody needs to hear that that was so bad and then a comment on there by some girl saying that's fake and she could do that our world has lost all our morals and all empathy to stick up for terrorists listening to that lady screaming insane oh my God broke my heart and made me want to throw up at the same time cuz I can only imagine what was happening to her

#HOG ❤ I know I said this in another video of yours, but again words cannot express the level of love that I feel for our veterans, because no one is set up to make those decisions you must make to keep us safe, caught in a conflict that it's not even ours makes it something even harder to swallow. So, I truly mean from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your service. I think this song was a harder one because it also spoke about lives on both sides. And I think that's why I think the song was so powerful for the following lines " I hope they see in their crosses what I see in you" and " I know it's shoot be shot men just like you" and it really paints that picture of, as you were talking about, the truly ugly side of War. For myself I'm not seen war, but I've always had this knowing that pTSD is an ugly consequence of being a veteran who has been on the front lines, and I've always believed that those who have had to sacrifice their Mental Health by serving our country should be taken care of when they come home because they will continue to fight a battle that we can't see, and I hate that mental Health services aren't readily provided along with all Health Services but especially mental Health. Thank you for being transparent and sharing with us because I believe it's important for people to realize this. And I think the most telling thing that you said was it you wouldn't wish on your worst enemy the images of what war really is. I hope I explained everything correctly or how I was meaning to. This song really hit me hard, I think Tom is highly empathetic, and that's where these types of songs come from, I also think that that's where his addiction problems come from as well. I myself am an empath, and I can feel other people's feelings as if they were my own, including pain and angst, etc. The hard part about it is especially when you're a child you don't know where these feelings are coming from or understand why you can feel those things, so for me it led me to be very introverted. i tried to be around my friends but it drained me, so in my early twenties in order for me to go out or be around others i had to drink before because it blunted the feelings from others. I was very lucky that it did not lead me to addiction, but I can see that it absolutely could have, I think the only reason it didn't was because of the control issues I developed after not having any sort of normalcy as a child, as a child of an addict. Which led to other problems with feeling the need to control everything in my life, but I'm working on that. And I say all that because that's just from feeling others feelings, so I know how much worse mental health issues can get when you're forced to see and feel what you have had to on the front lines. I think that's why I recommended Tom song wheels keep turning in the past, but I did listen all the way through your video, and if you do not want to stir up those emotions I get it, because it does portray pTSD very vividly, not with images of War, but he portrays someone spiraling with PTSD in the video. It's very powerful, but again, I don't think it's worth reacting if it's not something that you are at a place to do. Again, thank you for your service and your transparency with this reaction. ❤

I think what Tom has done here is speak about veterans in general. He released this on the day before veterans day. Military in general. However, he could be talking about our Creator when referring to superman. God is my Superman
