Washington, DC (2015) Roger Waters of "Pink Floyd" and Tom Morello of "Rage Against the Machine," played a benefit show with MusiCorps, an organization that gives veterans a chance to live again after war.
Tom Morello is a true artist and a gentleman. The way he sings this song and shows respect @ 4:00 by turning off his pedal to let that warrior play his part is truly inspirational and says a lot about his character. Always loved Tom, but now I feel an all new respect for him...Good dude.
When my buds and I were in Iraq, Audioslave was all over the radio, and they became our music. I love to see Tom Morello here continuing to sing with and for us.
The true embodiment of music..And Tom Morello definitely added something To Bruce Springsteen's lament to the John Steinbeck classic..Great stuff by all up on that stage👍.
Hi greg , i hope you dig this ...we are on YOUR side , greetings from australia ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eB7E2rc3bwg.html BAD UNC SAM>
*One must know who Tom Joad is. He's the protagonist in "The Grapes Of Wrath." He's essential to the human existence, civil liberties and stands tall against inequities!*
I totally agree! He’s one of the best. Billy Corgan, PJ Harvey, Kurt Cobain, Mike McCready, Stephen Malkmus aren’t bad either. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-U7ezOM1zvo4.html
Being a radio operator,Special Forces scuba diving paratrooper, that plays guitar and piano,These guys are awesome and make me wish I were half as good as any one of them.I'm proud to have such talented soldiers as my brothers.
It was my great honor to be one of the video camera ops on this gig. These Vet's proved there are no excuses for playing poorly...every one of them was missing at least one body part...some were missing 2 or 3...the proof is in the music. Thank you for this incredible experience.
Although the original is a great piece, RATM's cover of Ghost of Tom Joad" is the embodiment of what this song should sound like. What i mean by that is well RATM adds, RAGE and anger to it, it adds that edgy "Fuck the system" feel.
This is why I love Tom Morello. Got this guy in the chair jamming on stage with em. He's so passionate about these issues of politics.....I can't stand politics personally but his causes and message is a just one. I admire him as a musician but as a decent human being first. Keep fighting at making this world a better place Tom
Thanks all you Veterans! You paid a debt that can never be repaid!..Much much respect..The dude in the wheelchair was freaking awesome! I'm trying not to tear up..LOVE YOU GUYS! Thanks for your service and sacrifice..
I have never been so inspired to play guitar as I have by watching this video. There is literally, absolutely *nothing* stopping you from learning to play. If our wounded or disabled vets can do it, you can, too. Get out there and do it!
This was such an amazing and inspiring concert. The backing band were fantastic, and absolute rock stars. Tom Morello hits the nail on the head with his speech before the song. The lead guitarist /vet also nailed the solo to Comfortably Numb. I was in tears! Was so glad that I'd come over from the UK to witness this!
Thank you to the wounded warriors and that was amazing. John Steinbeck is proud and happy that you lunatics did that. That was blooming marvelous people. Thank you.
Tom is loved by all those who know HIS guitar a compliment to this song by his brother Bruce... Roger is amazing as well and what would that be like if him and Bruce were on the stage .... BUT ...my oh my TOM’s solo is epic !!
lot of us play and drink every night and it helps you forget. saw tom play with alex and kirk, good shit. thanks tom, music, blues it comes from your soul. go back to the 60's and learn to play old school and it will help you. we can play the shit we listened to on missions!
Muy querido Don Tom Morello, yo lo aprendi a valorar gracias a mis hijos , y hoy en dia por su pensamiento , amo sus rifff y sus twitter de pana compañero, BIG TOM
First of all thank you all for your service God bless you all. This is a very powerful song and seeing you great people doing it with these great rock stars. Damn giving me chills THANK YOU FOR THIS AND YOUR SERVICE
Bow down and confess your sins to Tom Morello. An alien sent to earth to smoke all guitar players. Eternal thanks to the vets for their service -- what incredible musicians they are.
+Fuzzy Dunlop Are you by chance Tom Morello, or maybe his mom? I've noticed you refer to him as one of the top 15 guitarists of all time on another post, a POV no one with a rational mind would agree with. The shitty overwrought, boring solo he performs here, along with the self indulgent posing are utterly inappropriate for a pseudo folk song referencing the Grapes Of Wrath. Did I mention his singing sounds forced and fake as well?
+Josh Smith Did i mention you're an idiot who doesn't understand anything about music? He's AT LEAST one of the 15 beast guitarists of all time, if you knew anything about actual music you'd realize that. The solo here is fantastic as usual, nothing boring unless if you have a crappy hear that doesn't want to listen to anything other than Hendrix. No self indulgent posing here(you're giving away you're pathetic hater nature). It must suck to be you, you're really dumb.
Wow…old lady who didn’t know this guy till the nytimes article That was amazing But I did know Tom Joan Old enough to have read grapes of wrath Thanks for this video
