not too suire - they sound quite similar to me. and i actually meant that in a good way - they're both phenomenal guitarists

Then you just need to listen to more fusion, then eventually you'll be better able to distinguish the different guitarist from each other. The only thing Tom and Guthrie really have in common is their use of arpeggios and chromatics in phrasing, but even then they use it differently. Tom has a very controlled legato heavy jazz influenced style, where Guthrie is much more of a rock guy with a twist and an amazing ability and ear. His style is much more bend heavy and aggressive.
