Hello Bob, very nice review. I’m just doing updates on my TomTom Premium 6" . Upgrading from the standard Go version because I have to pay for map and camera updates. I’ve always relied on my TomTom unit, hard to fault. I had real problems linking the premium to my BT home nub so am using my mobile phone instead. For cars with no Bluetooth, these satnavs are a good idea, connect your phone, and you are handsfree, whether you need the GPS feature or not, reviewers should make more of an effort to show this feature working.

These are very handy especially when your vechicle is 14foot high and you start getting worried going under bridges 😂 got myself a tomtom 5200 trucker use it on a daily basis 👍 .

Most of that packaging will probably get thrown in the bin. a bit of an over-kill. I've got a 5100 with worldwide maps and it's great. I downloaded the USA maps onto it last year when I had to make a business trip to California, could check my destination was on the satnav before I left home. My hire car had no navigation so I used my own TomTom, was familiar with how it operated and had set my destination into it already. Was an absolute boon. Next month I have to go to Malaysia to sort out some stuff of my late father, and the TomTom is primed ready to go with me on another adventure. EDIT: the search for "Tesco" could prove very useful in Malaysia!

Hi Bob, can you tell me when you done the search for Tesco’s you said it checks the internet for other Tesco’s, does it do this search using the Sim provided in the unit or do you have to let the Tom Tom use your mobile phone internet. Always been a pain for us when you need to find a particular shop or garage or restaurant Thanks so much for the review

Considering it’s illegal to touch a smart phone while driving, there is technically a market for these. But all the same the cheapest smart phone will do the same job fine (although you shouldn’t be making any inputs while driving) and with mostly free data roaming in the eu, using map data on the fly is no longer an issue. Excellent review and nice product all the same though Bob!

Good review but I wonder how long before these are completely redundant. Like cameras, the best one we have is already in our pocket in the form of a smartphone.

Good review. Do you know if you can still use previously purchased voices with this? I have an old TomTom with Mr Burns on it, I bought the voice from the TomTom store so hoping it's still available on newer devices.

Seems like a quality product but how much does it retail for ? I suspect it isn't cheap and with smartphone technology getting better overheating issues are not what they were and more and more new cars coming with built in sat navs and or android auto/apple car play unless products like this hit a certain price point they are doomed to fail.

Do you have to use the mount in the box,or can you use a dash mount?Will the cable plug in to the GPS to power it?I have a TomTom XXL now,got an e-mail saying I can't get any more updates.

The cleaning cloth and alcohol prep pad is to prepare the screen for installing that screen protector which comes in the same bag😏 If you’re forced to use something for navigation which is hanging from your windscreen and you can’t leave in the car, why not your phone? It’s charging then, it’s in sight, so you don’t forget to take it, and you can play music parallel or make hands free calls. But maybe people just like those things like wired phones, fax machines, flip phones and desktop computers

I loved the old Tomtoms of 10 years ago. So I upgraded to this Supreme. I'm sending it back. They lost all the simplicity and added tons of junk that doesn't work. The route of most software unfortunately.

Alas since moving to a magnet mount the mount point is not strong enough for being bike friendly anymore, instead bikes have the rough end of the stick

Mine came in the mail, about 3 weeks ago and ever since I received it it has been telling me there are 4 updates available, but when I try to access TomTom services I get a message saying cannot access TomTom services at this time try again later. But the most frustrating thing there is no way to contact TomTom by email, or any other method, I have tried the support page and that is about as useful as a pocket on a singlet, can someone please let me know how to access these updates.

hey man. great channel but i would not go near a tomtom and suggests everyone stays away from them! to this day even i feel conned out. so... i purchased a tomtom highspec at the time around 300 pounds with lifetime updates, traffic and maps. 3 years later nothing wrong with the device at all. THEY STOPPED UPDATES FOR ALL OLD MODELS??. they just brought a new one out lol. honestly get one with life time updates and as even thgis reviewer says life time until the product is out dated (around 5 years). work it out if your model came out 2 years ago and you purchased it for a few hundred... its gonna be outed very fast leaving you with a perfectly working device but when the roads change you device wont tell you. WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH AND WASTE OF MONEY. (NICE VIDEO THO)

People still use these?? Smartphone apps are much easier.

Unfortunately, apparently (?) he didn't test this sat nav in broad sunlight. The sun glare is truly ferocious! One can hardly see where one is going - all you can see, depending on where you positioned it are reflection of the back of the car or the driver. It really is very bad. How can TomTom manufacture such a glary screen! Rubbish!

Tom Tom are an awful company living on their past name now as others have caught right up with them, this new premium one is still using the old interface so it is still taking ages to complete. Time for change.

I bought a Garmin. TomTom EU sucks. No service and bad updates.

That TomTom map looks insanely boring and plain, the same as Garmin and Google. TeleAtlas created the most beautifully exotic 3D maps that ever existed on Earth!! I just learned that the TomTom company actually purchased the TeleAtlas map company in order to deliberately DESTROY and get rid of them!!!!! I opened a complaint in an attempt to get more information. This is what happens when you choose to sell your soul to the Devil for money!!! Rolls-Royce also made the stupid decision to sell their company to BMW, and that's why their company is now crap!!!
