Approx 600 mph (subsonic) and range is 1000+ miles. Depending on the warhead it can destroy a single large building (1000 lb warhead) or it can disburse 166 bomblets that are the size of a soda can each with about 2 lbs of explosives in them. Then there's the TLAM-A with a 150 Kt warhead that can vaporize a medium size city.
It was also my idea to redesign the wings of the tomahawk or equivalent cruise missile so they are swept-back when extended to allow for the easy transition to supersonic flight. This and a small redesign of the jet engine so it has the ability to use an afterburner should allow the tomahawk or equivalent cruise missile to go supersonic for most or part of it's flight.... With these types of test launches from militaries around the world where do the munitions actually land? I have to believe that they are simulating hitting foreign, belligerent targets, but what's the process like for how to know that the targeting is working if you don't actually hit the target? At what point do they detonate it safely, or choose a benign target or anything like that. The awesome power of these things, and people freaking out about tests from other countries making big news makes me wonder if we as the civilian community just don't fully understand the safety precautions involved in conducting such tests.

The Vertical Launch System shown contains each missile in its individual launch tube. The launch tube acts the same as the firing chamber and barrel of a gun. When the missile engine ignites the instant surge of pressure from the hot gases propels the missile up and out of the tube like a bullet. When the missile is out of the tube the pressure surge is released to the atmosphere and no longer pushes the missile. This causes the missile to slow down for an instant until the thrust of the engine causes it to accelerate upward.
It sickens me that theres even a need for these weapons that dedicated to decimate countries and other human beings. BUT....its human nature...we always fight...
