How to make the most delicious Tomato and Basil Pasta. This recipe is full of flavour and so easy to make. Its fresh, fragrant, cheesy and naturally sweet from the fresh tomatoes. This tomato and basil pasta is perfect for those quick weekday dinners. It's vegetarian and can easily be made vegan.

Ingredients -
400g - Spaghetti or Pasta of your choice
1/2 Bunch (25g) - Fresh Basil Leaves
2 Cloves - Garlic, Thinly Sliced or Diced
1 - Brown Onion, Diced
800g - Gourmet Tomatoes, Diced
1 1/2 Tbs - Olive Oil
2 Tbs - Red Wine or Balsamic Vinegar
Salt and Pepper to taste
Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan Cheese) to serve
Vegan Substitutes -
400g - Vegan Pasta
2 Tbs - Vegan Red Wine or Balsamic Vinegar
Vegan Cheese to Serve

I would suggest adding a few spoons of the noodle water into the sauce, the starches make the sauce cling to the pasta and not run to the ground. Also let the pasta steam out for even better sauce clinging :)

Just my observation as a RU-vidr, but the opening credits are filmed in an echo room, I know this puts people off. The sound must be perfect as there are millions of rival videos. I am amazed also by the subscriber number, Jack is a proper cook.

Great video ! If I may, here are 2 advices I would give you from someone who watches a lot of cooking channels on youtube : first, about the pacing, some unnecessary moments could be cut or speed up (for instance, you showed a great way to dice an onion, therefore it's unnecessary to show the second onion being diced), secondly, it's always easier when a video shows on screen the quantities used/the heat level of a pan/the time it requires. Some people are maybe not too fluent in english to catch what you are saying the first time, or maybe people like me want to pause the video with every info on the screen so they don't have to go back and forth in the video. Anyway, you are making quality content and I would be glad to see your channel grow even more !

Looking forward to trying this. I would probably undercook the pasta just slightly so that when I put it in the tomato sauce it had some time to absorb, and then I would add the basil once the pasta was completely finished.

Videos are nearly perfect. Straight-forward content, great shots, huge variety of recipes. One input I can request is: find better way in communicate with audience, I don't know if the microphone or anything, but I can't seem to understand everything perfectly xD Few texts in highlight tips (or ingredients, techniques, anything) could be used to fix it. Other than that, I can see this channel grows to at least 500k subscribers is less than 2 years. Thanks for providing great contents.

The pasta is cooked, drained and added to the sauce. Theres no need to blanch the pasta as its already hot, you can also add the pasta water to the sauce to thin it out and help the sauce stick to the pasta.

Hi Chef Jack! I have some questions.. Can I also add ground beef with that recipe to add more flavor? Ok so , I can put balsamic vinegar instead of wine, right? Also, I am planning to cook 900 grams of pasta, so I'll just double the ingredients that you put, right? I'm scared that it will turn out dry and won't have enough sauce.. Of course. You can also use canned tomatoes if you’d like to save money. You may need add a bit of sugar if that’s the case though as some canned tomatoes can be really acidic

I would like to ask a few about your dish. Why did you pour the pasta's water, it may be pretty handled to stick your sauce. Another one is, is that okay to add some tomato paste in the sauce to level up the taste and add sugar to the arrange acidity level.

Adding the pasta water is great to help sauces stick, however it’s not necessary in this recipe. You are more than welcome to do that though. Tomato paste will be fine to add in. The sauce has a great balance of flavours and isn’t acidic at all. 😊

You can use vegetable or chicken stock or it can be left out altogether. Please enjoy!

Are you using course or fine ground sea salt? It looks more course (bigger crystals). Excellent btw!
